Basic Information

Race: Isur
Birthday & Age :2 Winter 452 AV (58 years old)
Gender: Male

Physical Description :
Physically, the Isur is a powerful specimen of his race. Brooding eyes set over a stern mouth, sometimes split with a smile. His dark hair is usually kept short, out of his eyes and thus never obscuring his work. His facial hair is kept minimal, but tends to creep on him without the ready ability to rid himself of it. His right arm is bright yellow, an oddity among his kind with meaning he does not yet fully grasp. Needless to say, his physique is impressive if not daunting. Largely muscled, Aberdon has spent years in manual labor honing his ability to pound the rigid hold out of iron and taming any metal he is given. He cares about the shape of his body, viewing indolence and ease as weakness, thus filling his time with motion and life. Now that he is free, he tends to hide his back from wandering eyes, not possessed of all the pride his race seems to have. Instead the whip marks on his back are a mark of shame, a brand of slavery burned into his arm is covered by rough cloth, also seared with the flat of a blade to mar the shape on his left arm. Aberdon is a creature with great power, presence, and personality, but beset with a sort of brooding darkness remnant of his slavery days. His eyes tend to look down out of habit and making eye contact is never maintained long. He was a man broken, and has only managed to shape himself into a semblance of what he once looked like.

History :
Born to Azer and Ilias Fullswing Pitrius, Aberdon was still an infant when his parents decided to flee Sultros. The details of the baby’s birth had been delivered to the clan elder and both Isur parents knew the repercussions of his discovery. Likely the city would wage a social war over which direction the boy should go, who would control him, and his eventual seat among the Council.
They sought, although tearfully in farewell, a calmer place for their son in Zeltiva. With both parents well versed in their native arts, it was not difficult for them to find a job. Fullswing Smithy, one of a few in the port town but not the least among them. Together they told him nothing of his heritage, insisting the coloring of his arm was simply a product of chance and nothing more. Unconcerned with the higher politics, Aberdon devoted himself to the forge, assisting his parents in turning out tools for the city and farmers of the surrounding area, even tools for ships setting out to sea. While they dealt in quiet respect, Aberdon seemed to leech to the visitors, conversationally engaging them to almost frightening them away with his overt presence. It was his nature, a slow respect his parents had to develop for him.
The young Isur always seemed in touch with things, innately knowing when something bothered someone else, or if there was an ill feeling in the air. His parents marked his spiritual awareness calmly, comforted by the fact he would only return to the city when ready, when THEY felt he was ready.
Tragedy struck when the young Isur, somewhat distracted as he always seemed to be, did not take the necessary precautions to make sure the forge fire was out. Leaving the fire to burn as he left his home, the flames were quick to overtake both the shop and the house beside it, burning his livelihood, home, and parents to ash. Shocked beyond measure, suddenly alone in a world he had before taken for granted, the Isur did not seek aid for relocation and instead fled into the Wilds. Only his father’s Isurian steel hammer, an object Aberdon carried by habit only, remained of what he once had. Lost and alone, Aberdon was not able to find his way home…instead falling victim to the Wilds and falling deeper into their embrace.
It was below a rolling hill, as dawn touched the sky with amber fingers that slavers came upon the Isur. Alone and without escort, he was easy prey for the slavers who, after apprehending him, took him to Sunberth to sell. Aberdon was quiet, his entire world consumed and caged in a few short days. His life, as he knew it, had simply ceased to be.
The fifteen years after were the most difficult for the slave. Gladatorial combat, owing to his strong rock-like arm and natural size, made him a popular bet in the ring. He killed back then, furious and enraged, but it was when he stopped killing the enslaved that he was sold again. His hands had become too weak for killing, his heart would not allow him to crush a fellow slave. He was sold with his father's hammer as a blacksmith to a fat merchant based in Ravok. Ozon, the merchant, was obsessed with the Isur, sporting a few of their weapons and works as treasures of his own. He bought Aberdon for quite a price and believed he had purchased the Isur body and soul, treating him like property. Abuse calloused and scarred his back with whip marks and his hammer churned out whatever the merchant commanded him to. Toiling day in and out, the Isur tried not to let hate take his heart, malice turn his hammer to softer materials. For another ten years he worked until the merchant, Ozon died, a victim of his own gluttony. Sold with the remainder of the merchants supplies to a traveling seller, Aberdon followed quietly. But his new master was a cruel one, cutting against the young Isur when angry or drunk, touching him…differently when he wasn’t. Caged in fury for so long, the Isur tried to hold back his passion. He was convinced he was being punished for the death of his parents, a mistake he has yet to forgive himself for. Five years following the merchant Lanid had beaten down Aberdon. His blows fell heavily on the anvil, his eyes were poisonous when he did not want them to be. His dreams were violated by fear and fury. Within him, he wanted to laugh again, wanted to smile again…but Lanid had him fight, had him strip, had him do deplorable things until during the Spring of 508 in the Cyphrus region, Aberdon caved in his captor’s skull with his fist. The old manacle cuffs still cling to Aberdon’s hands, a reminder of what he was and what he always would have been…it is his testament, his punishment. Likewise is the mark of a slave on his forehead from Ravok, usually covered with a bandanna. Taking little from the merchant save what he felt was his in birthright, the isurian steel, his hammer, and gauntlet, he set out into the endless grasslands looking for a way back. Slowly he has begun trying to live again, to pursue his once lofty dreams of creation and joy. He found himself in Nyka, turning his creative skills, rage, and combat to a protective purpose. A monk in the service of Xannos and represented by a senior monk named Nylos, Aberdon is trying to control the fury still beating beneath his form. Whether he can run from his past far enough to find comfort remains to be seen. Far off, Sultros calls to him hauntingly, its people hungry for his arrival.

Character Concept/Personality :
The rough exterior of a quartz scarcely compares to the beauty within. So thus is Aberdon. The cold contours of his face, an expression of stoic fortitude, is a poor representation of the volcano simmering in his guts. Far more approachable than the majority of his race, Aberdon laughs heartily, drinks merrily, and speaks incessantly when given an opportunity. His talkative nature seems to emanate from the raw desire to know, to understand, to feel the people around him through voice and laughter. Men are more to him than a collection of bones and blood, they breath with their souls, speak with their hearts, and laugh with their entire being. He likens his people to selective volcanos, erupting only when around their own. For Aberdon it was not enough. Despite the admonishments of his parents to keep his voice down, his presence selective, and his arm secret…Aberdon could not help but make himself a figure in the community. The Isur tends to be overly emotive however, his emotions always on his sleeve and his nature uncompromisingly blunt. His rage is as passionate as his glee and as equally difficult to stop as a rockslide. When faced with what he believes to be injustice, it is difficult to deter his sense of right. It seems the only times one can find such a being silent is in sleep, unconsciousness, or when devoting his time to the forge. Such work is encoded within his history and being as sacred and thus he has a rigid respect for any who partake in its art.

When his parents passed, Aberdon blamed himself for a poor mistake. To compensate he obsesses about small details, frightened to the core of small mistakes causing havoc and peril. His time as a slave taught him obedience and to silence his gleeful heart and grin. Despite locking it beneath a layer of necessity, there is little that can truly hold down the momentous power of Aberdon’s personality. Whenever speaking to other slaves or given free rein to speak and act by his master, Aberdon slips back into his loud somewhat happy demeanor.

But slavery hurts something deep inside, twists it, kills it, or at least warps it. Beneath every bit of powerful smile, laugh, and even the stoic silence he masks himself within if ordered…there is a killer. Aberdon is a being wronged in one of the most profound ways. He was enslaved, his right to exist as a being was stripped from him with rough hands and cold iron. It reflects in his work, in his style, but there is little worse to him than the suffering of those imprisoned, those enslaved.
