She stands roughly the average height for a human. Her body is lightly toned and her figure agile. Her hands are rough due to the profession she has taken upon herself but they are dextrous and capable. Her bluish eyes are constantly full of emotion. This little nuance can used by both her and others for varying purposes. Her features however are soft and can betray Jocelyn’s strong will. Her dark hair naturally curls and hides streaks of deep red as it falls just below her shoulder. There is a scar on her upper arm that stretches diagonally across the length and another of similar length across her back. Character Concept Jocelyn is the daughter of a merchant. Born and raised on the trade routes between cities, she has seen the highs and lows of much of the life in Sylira. All the way from the terrifying back alleys of Ravok to the beautiful vistas of the Bronze Woods, she understands that nothing could ever be perfect. She loves life for what it is but has found the need to protect her family, her friends and the caravan more often than not. She quickly found her way as one of the guards of the caravan. She was brought up on the tales of the Syliran Knights and found a deep respect for them and what they stand for. Someday, she hopes to be good enough to join their ranks, should they ever return to Syliras again, she would like to try. Jocelyn tries to embody all the virtues that Eyris, Tyveth and Yahal teach the Knights. But she usually gets things wrong. Her heart is in the right place but she usually gets things wrong through sheer eagerness. She is constantly trying to figure out how to get things right but gets easily frustrated when things don’t go the way she wishes. She usually needs a calming hand to help her get things right. Likes Jocelyn loves the sunlight. She loves to bask in, read in it, walk in it and enjoy it. It could be incredibly windy but so long as the sun is out, she would not care. She likes to be active, likes to have something to occupy her time. Granted she enjoys taking a break every now and again but she likes to keep doing things. Jocelyn loves a lot of the more material things as well. Soft and bright coloured fabrics that she can wrap herself in, the calming feel of her weapons and the protection they bring and a nice beef stew. She also enjoys the embrace of others and people to toy with her hair. Dislikes Due to what took place there, Jocelyn dislikes, to the point of a phobia, Ravok. She dislikes people who can help themselves but refuse to over laziness. She also hates failing and making mistakes. She dislikes cruel dishonesty and cheating. She is not too keen on reptiles and creatures of that nature nor does she really enjoy wine.

History Born to Alistair and Matilda Kalin, Jocelyn Kalin was raised to be a merchant like her parents. While she is slightly gifted with her tongue, there was always an eager, playfulness in the girl that led her to be something more. Jocelyn was born on the Kabrid Road, in one of the shelters, surrounded by the rest of their caravan. The group of traders has and always did consist of four carts pulled by two horses and around thirty people in total. Most of her childhood consisted of travelling from one place to another, earning coin through the buying and selling of goods needed in various parts of Sylira. She has visited most of the major cities in Taldera and Syliras and also Mura, on the Konti, though their stays were never very long in any one place. It was always long enough to sell goods and buy new ones. Sometimes it three days, sometimes it was fifteen. It depended on where and when they were travelling. Jocelyn had never been very interested in the skills of being a merchant. One day, she had come across a book on a group of people called the Syliran Knights, since that day she has been besotted by them and their ideals. The search for knowledge, the sense of duty and honour and their faithfulness to their cause all endeared the group to the young impressionable girl. This was only built upon when they came across a group of knights during one of their stays in the Traveller Shelters. She rode on powerful steeds, wielding mighty weapons and wore brilliantly crafted silver armour, each one emblazoned with the Windoak, a fragment of the God, Sylir. Since that day, she used the skills in bartering and the money she earned from their merchant job to pay for weapons and lessons about combat whenever they reached a town. As she reached fifteen, Jocelyn was allowed to practice with the Guards for the caravan. She learnt as she fought to help protect her home against bandits, animals and Zith. Her skills equally good with sword, shield and bow. Jocelyn has not come off the best of all their visits to the various cities, Ravok in particular. During what should have been a routine stop at the city for trading, she was separated from the caravan with just a sword at her side. At the age of seventeen, there are plenty of unsavoury types who would enjoy her company. She was taken by a partially intoxicated man who dragged her in to an alley. As he tried to have his way with her despite her protests, two men came and rescued her, or so she thought. She retrieve her blade, they drew their own concealed long knives. She succeeded in all but killing one. Unable to see his brother in pain, the other ran to get him some help. Jocelyn was left with a long cut on her back and arm, wounds she barely lets the sunlight on. Now though, they are on the road to Syliras at last. With the blessings of her parents, she has decided she will try and become a Knight of Syliras.
