On the outskirts of Endrykas, Erzotol ran. He ran for many reasons, but today, he ran to clear his mind of the shadows that cobwebbed there. It was a city he thought about leaving soon, a place where all his family lived, and that fact made him falter in the slightest. Could he actually leave his family, abandon them without word just to trek to far off lands that didn't remind him so much of his past. He wanted a new start yes, but was he willing to hurt all the people he knew and loved just to get that chance. It was tempting to say no, but in his heart, he knew it had to be done. Whether or not he would tell his family though was another matter entirely. He wasn't sure he could face the disdain on their faces at the announcement that he was leaving, or the possibility of his mother’s tears. When did things get so complicated he thought, but he already knew the answer to that. It was a mixture of his father’s death and his own inadequacies that spurred him on, to seek fresher horizons, and better yet a new start where nobody knew who his was, knew of his failures, or could pity him for the loss of his father.
Putting one leg in front of the other, he kicked off the ground continually trying to increase the speed of his run, his eyes almost squinted shut. Exercising came as a release for him, his mind not so clouded with such thoughts on whether or not he was doing it right, or even about what he was going to do for the rest of the day. It was just simply that he was there, running around the great moving city, and burning his energy into exhaustion. Turning around another tent, he heard a faint melody on the wind, a high and breathy voice singing a song he had not heard of among his people. It was a girl's voice of that he was certain, and though he couldn't actually make out ever word that was sung the tune was quite nice, and his mind could fill in the words that he himself could not hear. Cutting through between two large pavilions he came to a stop between them and listened carefully, the music closer now. There not a few paces away from him a girl sat in front of a tent, a harp in hand, and was now humming the pretty tune she was singing to only moments earlier. A small smile came to his face as he strode over to her, loosening the straps of his coin purse and procuring two gold mizas from it, but keeping them in his hand for now. " That was quite the nice song, forgive me for my interruption, but where did you hear that? " he asked in a soft voice, his eyes watching her.
