37th of Summer, Year 510

It was already a decent frosty day in Taldera as the summer season of the year was in full effect. As any Vantha would know however that their region doesn't get much of a noticeable change in the temperature, probably just a bit more sun and brighter to the natives in Avanthal. Either way, today Darren found that he was out with a crew of seemingly spoiled individuals. They were suppose to bring back a decent catch for their hunt but his so called "partners" had other plans. "Tck, whatever. I'm going out and see if we can bring something respectable and come back by myself . I don't care what either of you do, you can deal with not having anything from the hunt" Darren growled as they went off their separate ways. The two ...gentleman he was with insisted on setting up camp in the middle of the field, he heard them going on about the terrain and map making before he finally left.

He had no real ill will towards them as he headed through the light forest, it was just that this might have been the only few times he actually hunted alone in the wild. He soon found out that he wasn't going to like it as he constantly hid from the bigger predators that roamed the lands. He wore his white leather attire that helped with his camouflage, but he knew he would have to find something quick and get out right away. He didn't know what the wilderness had in store for him and he didn't want to find out. Trying to move quietly and unoticably through the snow he tried to track a certain catch he would be able to hunt. Finally he thought he caught on to a surefire hint of what he was looking for, a trail to a Dire Rabbit. If it led to it's home the thing would have a whole family of the creatures he can bring back. Not to impressive he thought, but it was safe and something he knew he could be proud of if he worked hard to get a good amount.

OOCAt this age, Nida's probably around the size of a regular snow leopard, so around the height of 25 inches.

Unbeknownst to Darren, his "hiding" technique wasn't working too well. He'd acquired a little white shadow a few minutes ago. Nida stalked the Vantha playfully, her spotted tail twitching back and forth as she followed the man. She was quite curious as to what exactly he was. The young Kelvic had never seen such a creature before. It looked a bit like her brother when he was in his two-legger form, but this one was taller, older perhaps? Yes, it had to be.

He seemed to be following a rabbit trail. Nida wondered at how much of a hunter this clumsy male could be, stomping about in the snow and scaring away any prey that wasn't blind or deaf. Silly male.

Nida was supposed to be hunting, but her family already knew that probably wasn't going to happen. Her siblings would most likely come back with some sort of kill, while she'd come back with filthy fur and an interesting branch or stone. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy hunting, for when she had a mind to it, she was better than her brother or sister. It was just that she was so easily distracted when not caught up in the full bloodlust of the hunt. But she was only a kit, so her tendency to chase falling leaves or flowers was excusable.

But this time she'd found something far more interesting than those playthings. She'd found a odd patchy-skinned creature! He seemed to be pink, under that fake fur that was wrapped around his body. Unable to bear just following in his wake, the Kelvic stepped out from behind the bush she was hiding behind, and gave a gravely "Meeeeew". If the stranger turned around, he'd see a snow leopard sitting a few yards behind him, head tilted to one side, staring at him quite curiously.

Not all Kelvics are nice polar bears (Nidassasyae)

A sudden mew broke the silence as Darren perked up at the call. Without any hesitation he threw himself to the nearest bush for cover. Opting for quickness rather then concealment he broke the one of the basic rules of staying hidden, 'be quiet'. Laying flat on his stomach, he poked his head from under the bush, looking to find whatever it was that called out earlier.

Morwen keep me safe. Peeking across the snowy expanse his breathing grew ragged as he tried to find whatever was out there. The Vantha's heart furiously from the tension in the air, this he wasn't used to having a possible attacker approach him. It felt as if his heartbeats were fully audible to the area around him, tearing his insides asunder as it took up more and more room inside of him almost to the point that he feared that it may have burst.

"Who's out there?" Darren's voice came out in an almost inaudible whisper as his eyes slowly scanned the area. It was at the last moment he found what he was looking for, curious set of eyes worn by a ferocious predator of Taldera. A feline predator! I've never dealt with one alone...I need to retreat, think of options. I have to run! A sudden noise stole his attention from behind as a feeling of dread soon washed over his system. Looking back he saw a beady set of eyes that struck him with more fear then a meager snow leopard. Dire rabbits, and he just disturbed the family. Fear welled up inside his throat as he could only emit one word in a fashion most girly. "Aieee!!!"

OOCYou can slap me for the delay if you want :(

Nida laughed as Darren made a scene, screaming like her younger sister. Her chuckle was a rough, sand-papery sound, like a cough. At first, she assumed that he was trying to make enough noise to scare her off. But the scent of rabbit suddenly wafted past her, and her nostrils twitched furiously.

Delicious.

The beady-eyed, fuzzy little meal was standing right in front of the two-legger! Was it not going catch the rabbit? Wasn't that was predators did? Nida watched skeptically for a fraction of a second as the two-legger only screamed at the dire rabbit. No, this pink-skinned creature was too slow.

But there was no sense in wasting perfectly good food.

Nida leaped forwards, her big paws barely touched back down on the ground before she had her jaws around the rabbit's neck. The snap of its neck was harsh, but hopefully it would stop the two-legger's screaming.

It wouldn't be good if he woke bigger animals than a dire rabbit and a leopard cub.

Sitting down calmly, and well aware of the burrow of rabbits behind her, Nida graciously offered the rabbit to the two-legger. After all, the rabbit was the pink-skin's. It was the one who found the rabbits.
