[Solo] Skill Flux

29th day of Fall, 511 AV

Miro began today with a spring in his step. He woke up extra early, and got some items for training. He grabbed his robe and put it on, emitting a hefty amount of res into it. He was really feeling pumped, except for that headache that had been plaguing his mind. It thumped in his mind, tearing away at his conscious thoughts. His actions became instinct, driven by pain. He grabbex his harness and put it on over his robe. It hung loosely over his hip holding his sword cane behind him.

He walked over to his bookcase. 'Basics of Morphing' perfect. Miro nodded as he grabbed the book. Suppressing the headache for a brief amount of time. His entire head was throbbing. He walked outside and tossed the book to the floor. He pulled his sword out in his right hand and held it out to his side. He focused his djed into his gut, centering his mind. He ran forward letting the blade trail behind him. he neared the training dummy, its arms standing out menacingly. The weight of his robe weighed down with res slowed his movements. Ducking under one of its arms, he brought his sword upwards into the wooden arm. Jumping away, Miro landed and readied himself once more. His head throbbed slightly, but he was able to center himself. Producing the res earlier didn't feel right, perhaps the Flux would be different.

Miro ran up, stopping just short of an arm. He pooled the djed around his right leg. He stretched his legs out, and with each muscle he would stretch. he would fortify the muscle with amounts of djed. His muscles sung to him as they were stretched long and hard being pumped full of the Flux. He backed away and readied his djed into his legs. Running at full speed, he slowed as he neared the arm. The Flux seeped deep into his muscles, he dropped low to the ground letting the Flux fill both legs completely. He sprung up with one leg, and kicked off the arm with the other. He leaped over it upside down and slashed the top of it several times before landing hard, falling off balance.

Miro ran up and focused a slight stream of flux into his arm as he ran by. he slashed it, ducking under. Upon standing from the slash, he turned and drove his blades end deep into its back, pushing flux into his muscles giving it speed. Over and over again he dug the blade.

The back of the dummy was showing signs of use. He took his sword cane and started to slash downward. "Left, right, left, right, left, right..." Miro gave himself simple commands to keep pace. His headache started to ease and fatigue started to kick in. His slashes slowed, the energy that once sat in his gut, was now a shallow pain. He was tired, and ready to think given the opportunity. He walked over to the book and sat down.

'Basics of Morphing' read the title on the book. Morphing, a magic he had only hear tales of. He could alter his body using magic. What better skill could he ask for. "Morphing is a personal magic, that will allow you to reshape your body using djed. Most commonly through models. Using the model of a bird, you could shape wings. These wings may look useful, but in reality would lack practicality. However, a model of something more practical, involving perhaps a tail could prove functional." Miro flipped through the book until something caught his eye. A picture of a monkey from the front and side. He carefully examined the picture, noting every detail he could. He looked at each proportion, the location, sizes. He turned the page and began reading. "In order to learn a model you should focus your body as the creature, then use your djed to alter a body part. Beginners should focus on small areas, practicing as much as possible. Note all of the details of a model, feel it with your mind." He turned and looked at the monkey more, visualizing it as if he were it. He focused his remaining djed into face. He focused on the large rounded ears. He focused his djed feeling as if he had the ears himself. His ears started to pull out and stood out away from his head.

Hearing everything with such intensity was amazing. He felt like he was in a whole new world. He pulled the res out from his jacket and let it float in the air around him. he grabbed his blade and drew it. He focused the res into several small balls. He launched them into the air as he transmuted them then steadied his blade. He focused djed into his arm enhancing his reactions with flux. as they fell he slashed through them. One, two, three. One passed to the ground and he missed. Hearing the blade screech through the ice dazzled his ears. Four, five. He hit two more as the other pieces of ice crashed down. He looked down at the ground and noting the ice he missed.

It was getting late, the day was just starting up and he was exhausted. Perhaps a stroll would liven up his day. For now, He was going to take a nap. On second thought, there is always tomorrow for shopping. An early night would be just what he needed.

Notes:

Ok, I did not grant you any models, or even monkey parts. It seemed to me that Miro got the hang of Morphing way to easy. You cannot just pick up a book, read a couple things, and then be able to do it. It takes the understanding of the theory first before you can put it into practice.

Morphing is mostly a practical discipline learned through experience on the field. There is relatively little theory and a lot of practice and trial-and-error involved. Much like Voiding, there is no real initiation ritual required to start practicing it, just weeks of constant meditation and focus. Aspiring Morphers fast, meditate and empty their minds until they completely separate their minds from their physical forms, at which point Morphing first becomes possible.

There is a quote for those who are inspired to learn morphing. It does say there is little theory, but there is theory nonetheless. Please, next time try to stick to the lore a little better.

Other than that it was a great (short) little thread.

Any questions or concerns about the rewards gained please send a PM :)
