[Solo] Night Before the Fight

Postby Miro on September 8th, 2011, 2:41 am

29th day of Fall, 511 AV

The house was quiet except for the soft sounds of snoring and whistling through the cracks in the house. Miro was tired from a long day of training his skills, and it was well into the night. A dream turned rancid had Miro tossing and turning. His dream consisted of several enemies tearing into him with blades. All he could do was scream as his flesh was ripped from his body. As he lost one of his arms, he flipped over off of his bed, landing square on his face. "Owww!" He rubbed his face. "It sure beats being hacked to pieces though."

Miro was awake now. He didn't sleep well, but it was restful. He wasn't ready to get back to sleep, and who could blame him, since his dreams had been so sour lately. The tournament weighed heavy on his mind, he could not get it out of his head. He knew what tomorrow was. What it would mean showing up. A quick run, that would be fine. Nothing too tiring, nothing too stressful. He didn't bother to throw on his shirt, but would still take to grabbing his new robe out of the closet. He needed to get used to the weight it carried. He transmuted loose res all over his body then turned it into water to weigh it down even more.

"I should stretch some first." He began to spread his legs as far apart as he could manage getting quite close to the ground. He pressed his weight to one side. His muscles screamed in agony, not like normal, this felt like it was pushing it a bit too far. He held it for only a few seconds, before switching to his other leg. Again the pain screamed through his muscles that were being pushed further than they were usual taken. Getting to his feet was a bit of a hassle, his muscles were getting used to the stretch put into them. He knelt down on his left knee, letting his right trail out heel down. He slid his left knee backwards as far as his body would allow while pushing his pelvis as low to the ground as possible. His eyes welled up with tears. Teeth were clenched hard. He eased up on the stretch only to switch leg positions and repeat the process. This time the pain was even worse, he let out a light high pitched squeak that lasted the duration of the stretch. He stood up and took a moment to regain composure. His legs still ached and his stance was wobbly. Continuing his warm up, he began to do squats rapidly. After a couple hundred his knees were getting weak. His legs were starting to ease up, but he was in no condition to run. He plopped down on the bed. Noticing his robe was even heavier now drenched in his sweat, as well as the water he added caused him to let out a long heavy sigh. He was tired, but this was just the warm up. Maybe after a few chimes his stamina would return and he could proceed to finish his night training.

Miro, after laying down started to doze off for a bit. He woke with a start. His eyes sprang open, and he stood up. His eye caught the bed. There was a definite wet spot from his robe, and he was sure it did not smell pleasant. Starting to reproduce the res around his body he tested his muscles. Legs, they felt fine. Knees were sturdy, nothing ached too much. "Perfect!" Miro was ready now. He transmuted his res into water again to add the weight to his clothing.

He started out the door at a pace not much more than a run, yet still keeping at least one foot off of the ground at a time. He started on the road, picking up pace slightly. His stamina would hopefully hold out until the town decided to drop him back at his home.

Gradually he picked up more speed, the town was dull and silent at night. He saw nearly nobody, allowing him to run freely. The town seemed to blend as he blazed through the town at the speed. All that could be heard was him panting heavily, trying to keep regular breathing and form. The air stung against his face briskly, feeling ever so refreshing. The city at night was so much more beautiful. Life always seemed peaceful at night, Miro found himself loving the night setting throughout all of his life. He turned a corner here and there, keeping his route interesting. He was unsure why it was necessary to turn at all. Sometimes he would walk straight without turning at all and find himself where he needed to go anyways. With each turn he picked up pace a bit more, increasing the panting coming from him. The cool robe felt refreshing as the night air cooled the water. Fatigue would start to hit him soon. Part of him wanted to use the Flux to sustain his endurance, but it would hit him too hard in return. His heart was starting to thud quite a bit. Passing the library yet again annoyed him slightly. He was not sure how long he had been out or when the sun might come up, but he was feeling ready to rest up for the tournament that laid in store for him. His heart was pounding in his chest, his stride slowed down gradually.

Eventually his jog fell to a walk, then stopped entirely. He took a break leaning against a wall that sat on the edge of the road. Gaining his breath he started in with a steady jog, keeping that pace until he returned home. Outside of the manor, in the yard, he stripped his clothes from his body. He was drenched in sweat from head to toe. Creating a pool of res between his hands took a few minutes, but he managed to get it ready. He had it above his head, robe at his feet, then transmuted it to water, letting it splash down over him. He shook off the water and grabbed his robe up and draped it over the table inside his room. He stripped the rest of his clothing and held them up before returning to his bed. Before laying to sleep, he said a small prayer to Morwen, asking for strength and her blessing. He slept long and hard, not waking until late the next morning.
