8th day of Spring 510
Atoro had been settling into life down south, he had got a little spot outside of the city to pitch his tent, slowly getting used to the heat, steadily loosing more money as the days go by. I am going to have to get a job soon or else Monox and I will go hungry! With this in mind, Atoro made his way into Sylrias.
As he passed the post office, someone ran out to greet him. "Atoro! Wait a moment..." Turning around in surprise, eyes a bright green colour, Atoro looked at the man he met in the shop the other day.
Sliding of Monox, Atoro shook the man's hand. "Hello friend, good to see you. What the matter?" Words coming more easily now, he waited for the answer. Instead of one, his friend handed him an envelope. "Just have to give you this, see you later maybe? I gotta get back to work". Waving, the man walked back into the building.
Holding the envelope, all thoughts of provisions gone, Atoro jumped back onto his horse and sped back to his tent. Securing Monox, he went inside and sat down, quickly opened the letter and devoured the contents:
Dear Atoro, how are you going. We know you have not been gone long but we just want to give you a little help. Seek out Karik and ask him for a little assistance, you will find him in the Rearing Stallion. Make sure you have a place outside of the city for it. Anyway, hope it goes well. Love, mother and father.
Smiling at the letter, a little confused at how cryptic it was, Atoro felt he might as well not waste any time. Heading back to the city, Monox was getting a little fed up by now, Atoro headed to the tavern for the second time.
Remembering the last time Atoro visited this dreadful place, he mentally prepared himself to enter the tavern. Placing Monox in the stables, Atoro walked towards the tavern. Eyes rapidly cycling through colours showed his agitation. Taking one last breath from the outside, he entered the tavern.
The first thing he noticed was the smell. Smells of all different potent brews assaulted his nose and then the warmth reached him. Slightly more calm, Atoro headed over to the bar where he asked if they knew the man he was searching for. A small point of the hand and the barman went back to taking orders.
Walking through the crowd, Atoro approached the man with his eyes set in a steady blue colour. "Mr Karik?" A nod from the man, "My parents, Aras and Taril, sent me to you. They sai-." Karik's hand grasped Atoro's arm and led him out of the tavern in a rapid manner.
Blinking in the sunlight, Atoro had moments before the man spoke to him. "You get here on a horse?" A nod, "Okay, take me to your tent with your horse." Utterly confused, Atoro headed to his horse and mounted up with Karik behind him.
Keeping his silence the whole ride, Karik waited until they were inside Atoro's tent before speaking. "So, you want to learn the ways of Familiary no?" This was greeted with a yellow eyed stare and not a word. "I know it is a big step in life, getting a familiar and all, but they are not all evil you know. Look, here is mine." A small mouse climbed from within his pocket and grew to the size of a large loaf of bread.
"Did... Did that mouse just-" The spectacle wasn't over just yet. The mouse then transformed into a miniature tiger. Simply stunned into silence, all Atoro could do was listen to Karik.
"So I have your interest now? It is relatively simple to get your own you know. But, keep it a secret. People don't like to know we have been summoning. Anyway, let us begin." With that, Karik began to draw a summoning circle.
Slowly, everything that had just been said and seen clicked inside of Atoro's mind. "You are saying I can get one of these??" The only thing he got in reply was a nod, the circle writing was taxing. "But how?" Sighing, Karik stopped the incantation and explained it to Atoro.
"Okay, as I am sure you know we had Djed running through our veins. Now with this we can summon the creature. Then in this realm you will share Djed. This means that if you get hurt, so does the familiar, if you feel unhappy, your familiar will be able to know. It also allows you to telepathically speak with one another. Now, back onto the circle." As he said, Karik helped his own familiar with the summoning.
This gave Atoro to think about the idea of having a Familiar. So far, Syliras had not been too friendly. He was miles and miles away from the two people he cared the most about. Too be truthful, Atoro was lonely. So to have a animal of sorts that would talk to him and comfort him, to have a friend all the way out here. How could he resist?? Smiling, eyes a bright blue colour, he waited for the summoning to begin.
Now, Karik's familiar had a few people in mind. Friends who he had left behind when coming over to this world. With that in mind, he opened the portal.
The surface of the circle shimmered and began to ripple as thought it was water. All of a sudden a blob appeared. Frowning, Atoro thought it didn't work. However, this blob formed arms, legs, head and a mouth. With the mouth it spoke. "Ahh, so this is Mizahar! And are you the one who wants me as your familiar?" Bound by the circle, the blob pointed at Atoro.
A little surprised by the blob, Atoro was silent for a moment or two. Finding his voice, he spoke in Vani for that was what the creature spoke in. "Hi. I am Atoro and indeed I am seeking a familiar. I am not too sure how to go about this, so, who are you and how would you feel being my familiar?"
A laugh escaped the blobs lips as Atoro asked his question. "I am Mizaki, a pleasure to meet you. I would love to be your familiar, as you can see I am a Sarawanki. I would love the opportunity to become your familiar. I am an excellent listener and a great talker. Damn, time to go and for you to meet another one. Don't forget me though." With that Mizaki went back into the water.
This is how most of the interviews went on and it was pretty late in the day by the time Karik's familiar had introduced everyone. For the first time in a while, Karik spoke. "Okay, you have met everyone now. Time to make your desicion. Of course, you can wait a day or two to ma-" "No, I wish to have Mizaki." Atoro cut in with a very affirmative voice. Nodding, Karik got out some paper and wrote down a few sentences, his familiar was also busy re-summoning Mizaki.
"All I need you to do is sign here in blood, and your familiar to sign just underneath yours." Handing the document over to Atoro, who pricked his finger with his fathers Tamo Dagger, signed his name and passed it to Mizaki who did the same.
It was almost immediate. Atoro felt a weird draining of his very life. Falling down into a kneeling position, Atoro looked up towards Mizaki, the weird creature was shrinking and walking to the edge of the summoning circle. Fuelled by Atoro's Djed, he walked straight out of it and sat down next to Atoro. "Hey there Mizaki... Nice to meet you." Then, with the thought of Mizaki on his mind, Atoro fell into a deep sleep along with his familiar. Smiling, Karik left the tent and disappeared into the city once again.
