Relax Krys. Its alright. You’re okay. Really. Okay, you have to turn away from the gift table now. Just turn. Its okay. Krysanthe thought a few encouraging words to herself as she tore her eyes away from the gift table that was now scattered with many presents of all shapes and sizes. She didn’t do well with crowds, and this party made her feel incredibly claustrophobic. She regretted ever coming. Making her way over to the buffet-style table, she picked up a plate. She was somewhat amazed by the vast array of food. She had never seen so much food in such a variety at one place at one time. In fact, she was uncertain if she had seen this much food at all. It blew her mind, and she convinced herself that she was dreaming for a moment, but the smell was all too real. It almost made her feel faint. Reaching for a bit of meat, she realized that it must have made someone feel the same way, for not five feet away, a girl collapsed. Krysanthe set down her plate and joined the crowd that surrounded her. Krys had never met Alstroemeria, but that did not change her level of concern when she watched the girl clean up the bit of blood that had appeared after her fall. The cheit wondered where she had cut herself, wondered if she was in pain, wondered why she fell, wondered if she was okay, but she couldn’t ask, for just like that, the girl stuttered an apology and disappeared from the crowd. Giving a glare to a few of the surrounding people who didn’t appear to care in the slightest, Krysanthe kept her eye on the direction where the woman disappeared from. She found that her appetite decreased greatly, and she looked at her empty plate, then to the piece of meat she was reaching for before the woman fainted. She chose not to pick it up, and instead went for a lovely green vegetable. She took a few bites, and not but a moment later, the girl reappeared. Krysanthe got very aggravated at how many people turned to stare at her, like she was some sort of freak. So the woman had fainted, so what? Feeling oddly protective as the girl stood there, Krys made her way to the woman’s side. Helping her to a table, she tried to be gentle. She was not exactly a social butterfly, and to actually help someone willingly… Well, it made her feel like the pressure of this party was getting to her, forcing her to act out of her norm. She always had a taste for the different, and it seemed that this girl was anything but normal. It was the average people that bothered her, the people who acted like they were supposed to, the people that had stood there around Alstroemeria and stared, acting like they cared, when in reality their looks meant nothing and their words even less. Getting the girl a glass of water, Krys sat across from her, and couldn’t help but stare as the water seemed to give life back to her. She must have been incredibly dehydrated. Mentally slapping herself when the woman caught her staring, Krysanthe did not interject. She tried to offer a smile to the stuttering woman, but it wasn’t very natural. Krys was not used to talking to other Inarta, and she certainly had no talent in comforting someone, but still she tried her best. “Hey, it’s okay. No trouble… Yeah… Flashbacks? That’s not your fault… I mean, you don’t need to be sorry…” Okay, that was akward. After a moment, which for Krysanthe felt like a lifetime, Krys spoke, fidgeting with a bit of her bryda, grabbing a bit of the pants in her hands. “I’m… I mean, my name is Krysanthe. You can call me Krys… if you want…” Wishing she could ease this situation, Krysanthe offered another smile, and although this one was more believeable, it still lacked something, something very important. Happiness. |
