Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.

Not led by the Garden (Solo)

7th-Fall-511 AV

Keido was running. Running through Alvadas with a net in his hands. A lot of people went out of their way to avoid him, or just stared. But he didn't care. He got the idea in a moment of inspiration. If the maze led him around in circles, what happens if he was led by something else? Would the maze try and trick him or trick the leader? The sheer idea of it, that a maze would be so smart to tell the difference of who to trick was strange. So he had to try and find some way to go behind it.

His net was held right in front of him. And in front of the net was a cat. Running away from Keido. It was a marvel how Keido was able to keep up. The net was long and dragged on the ground. There was a risk of tripping him. And it was proven just earlier in the day when it happened as he chased the cat.

He just started running, the net was really dragging on the ground but Keido did not notice it. The first few steps were fine. Even if the knees kept brushing on the net everytime they had to come up. Until suddenly the net dragged on long enough and covered quite a distance behind him. Keido took a step like normal, but landed on the net. He wasn't aware of this until it was too late. The next leg continued the run, its knee brushing on the net as usual. But the net got a lot more tense with Keido's body weight on it. It stopped the knee's movement, but his body still moved forward. Then the net tripped him. Keido fell on the hard ground.

Which was why now the net was held higher. Straight across his face in between his arms. It might be obscuring his vision, but it was a lot better than failing again after taking another trip. But the risk was still not justified. After the trip, what was stopping him now from running into an innocent pedestrian? So how Keido decided to run this time was simple. He kept peeking his head to the side every few steps. A simple rhythm of one-two-three-four-turn-one-two-three-four-turn repeatedly. Only keeping his head out when he was near the junction on the streets. This new strange method was better. It allowed him to get more distance between his legs as he ran. The cat was fast so this was highly necessary. Each step he took was one stretched as far to the front as possible that his legs would allow.

After passing through countless streets that Keido was not familiar with since the city was always changing its structure, the cat ran into an alley. Keido of course followed it in without hesitation. It was going to be the leader in the Garden whether it wanted to or not. Now was the trial run to see if it was Keido who was a suitable follower. Hurriedly, Keido twisted his foot, allowing his body to face the side. The next foot followed the direction his body was facing instead of the direction it was already going to. After stepping down, the next foot followed. Keido ran into the alley as well. Leaving still curious passerbys behind.

The cat was cornered. The alley was a dead end. It looked back at Keido and straightened itself up. Hissing with a warning not to come any closer. But Keido was still running. Using an opposing force, he tried to go against the downwards front motion of his legs and slowed down into a halt not too far away from the cat. The cat already backed away a little by then. Leaving Keido to think how to approach it.

Keido took a step forward, the cat took a step back. Keido lifted up his net, the cat went back somemore. Instinctively apprehending his intentions. Keido continued another few short steps, creeping closer to the cat while it still took the same big steps earlier until finally, it hit the wall. When Keido saw this, his next step forward came fast and hard. The foot at the back extended to push him forward. Keido dashed forward towards the cat. Each step he took causing the cat to jump in shock. Finally, only a few paces in front he stopped and released his grip on the net. The momentum carried it forward to the cat as it spread out. Lucky the cat was a smaller target or this would have been a lot harder. In the end the cat for ensnared in the net. Meowing loudly to try and get out.

Not led by the Garden (Solo)

Postby Keido on September 14th, 2011, 8:56 pm

At the Garden shortly after, Keido still had the cat which he carried in the net on his back. The cat moved and fidgeted but no longer tried to claw him which was good. Keido walked through the garden. It seemed normal enough today. No shifting its paths right in front of him. But he still felt he was being led. He didn't care, as long as he was led where he wanted to be.

After a while walking, Keido found the large empty space with the fountain like the last time. It may be a different one, but as long as there was water nearby it would serve his purposes. He did not go in, rather choosing to stay on the path at its entrance. Keido put his things down, prepared to start the next phase of his plans.

He did not release the cat. Not right away. The cat will lead him out sure, but not now. Now he needed to train a little bit at least. With all his new weapons he has been neglecting his own skills. He felt like his hands and legs are slightly sluggish now. A cat which was agile would be the perfect partner for him. Keido put the net with the cat in front of him, in between him and a hedge and the path continuing to its sides. Slowly, Keido tried to untangle and unravel the net.

It was harder than he expected. Mostly, he only had to twist the weights on the net which ran into each other. But the hard parts were when he had to unravel the loose ends. After he was done and opened the net spreading it on the ground, the cat bent its legs and tensed its body. Keido saw this and knew it was going to run. After all his efforts he cannot allow that even if it was a little mean. Quickly, his hands went forward, holding on to the cat's body between them.

The cat tried its best to escape Keido. It leaped forward at him suddenly and Keido had to push his arms forward some more to hold it back. Then it started to fidget and shake around to try and force Keido to loosen his grip, but Keido did not relent. He tightened his grip, getting an uncomfortable meow from the cat. The meowing increased as he put the pressure harder then realizing he was hurting the cat, he stopped. The cat took the opportunity of his own confusion and went to scratch at one of his arms.

The attack was effective and Keido released the cat on one side. The cat saw this and started to twist its body to the side, putting all its energy to escaping from the new opening. Keido saw this too. He had failed. He needed to stop the cat from going any further.

"I am sorry, but no!" he said darting his hand back.

But the hand did not reach for the cat. Instead it reached for the side of the net below the cat. Keido quickly pulled it up and when the cat finally ran, it got caught by the net again. Keido saw it's disappointed face, but that was not enough. He will release it when he was done with it.

When the cat finally understood it was not going to go anywhere, Keido released his other hand and brought the net down. Not the cat was in the middle. Waiting. Their game was about to begin. The one which Keido was going to play to improve his movements for his unarmed combat.

Keido just stared at the cat. It was the only subject of his attention now. He took note of all its movements. Like how it moved its paws when it wanted to go to the side and how it prepared its legs when it wanted to pounce and run. He also took note to see when the cat was feeling calm or getting excited. Like when it meowed a lot or tensing its body. Keido just watched and waited. His arms flat on the ground at the two sides of the cat to cut off its escape route.

The cat put a paw to the side which Keido saw, making his left hand twitch. It put its other paw and Keido knew it was committed. When it started to run, Keido lifted his arm up to block it off. The cat did not like this and ran in a circle to try and continue its escape to the other side. Keido knew that the cat had no where else to go and wanted to escape badly. Quickly, he lifted his other arm off. Blocking off any route of escape for the cat. The cat kept running round and round in between Keido's arm looking for a way to escape. Taking the opportunity to escape everytime Keido put his arms back down on the ground. Then he will raise it again everytime he saw the cat heading towards it. This went on for quite a while until finally it got tired and went to lie down and rest.

Keido put his arms back on the ground again and waited for the cat to try again. It started off with opening its eyes. Since Keido was focusing on body movement, he did not see the glittering gleam of its eyes. Thinking it was still resting. Then the cat turned its head into the direction it wanted to run to. Keido should have taken this as a sign, but he still believed that the cat was resting and continued waiting. Suddenly the cat lifted up the front of its body, ready to run. Keido reacted a little slowly and only begun to raise his arms when he saw the cat pushing on its hind legs.

"Damn!" Keido cursed, that was fast.

The sneaky cat started to go front. Keido did not want to let it run yet or he will be stuck in the maze the whole day. He bent his body to the side and raised his arms. Trying to reach out as far as possible. His hand was racing against the cat. Keido's advantage was his height fortunately enough. And he allowed his body weight to bring him down to the ground. It reached past the cat and he pulled back his arm towards him. Swatting the cat back to the middle when he aimed for the body.

This left the other side wide open and the cat saw it too. Keido saw the cat turn its head to look behind him and start to pounce again. He looked at its direction to see that it really was wide open. How was he going to stop the cat? There was only one other thing there. His legs. But Keido did not want to use if for the simple reason that a kick would be more damaging than a swat of his hand. But he had no choice. He bent his knee forward, pointing straight at the hedge opposite it. Then he extended his leg to a full kick forward. The cat was driven to escape and continued on faster. Keido could not bring himself to hurt it so he put pressure away from the cat. Trying to stop his kick and soften the blow. It his the cat he saw. But fortunately he aimed the base of his leg to foot where the force would be weaker. Though softer it did the job and pushed the cat back to the middle.

He needed to recover before the cat to continue because the same moves would not be able to stop the cat. Keido kicked downwards his already extended foot. Using the force to propel his body. Then he twisted his body upwards to follow the movement. His body went up, pushed by the force and Keido soon found himself sitting back up. Even before the cat got back to its feet and faced it. He was already ready and the cat was meowing sadly from its failure.

"Alright I'll give you a better chance right now"

Keido felt sorry for the cat and after all this he felt that he became a lot faster. As a reward to the cat for its assistance and to push himself further, he will try to put himself at a disadvantage. After all he had nothing to lose. Once he was done today with his training with the cat he will undoubtedly be faster in using his body to defend himself and attack others.

Not led by the Garden (Solo)

To give the cat a better chance, Keido clapped his hands on to the ground beside him. The cat heard it with twitching ears, stiffening up its body to regard him. Like it was testing Keido, it put a paw out to the side and then another. Like it did earlier and yet Keido did not move. He was watching its legs. At that time its legs were lazily sitting on the ground. Not prepared to do anything. Then the cat brought its paws back to the front of its body. Keido saw it was putting all its weight on its hind legs. It was the sign he was looking for.

He bent his fingers to pull his hand forward when he saw this. But both him and the cat were preparing themselves. His eyes started to feel dry as he was staring at the cat. He could not allow himself to blink because he would miss it. Finally he saw the cat catapulting itself forward with its legs. Keido pushed on his finger, springing his hand forward. It flew out straight in front of the cat's path to block it off. The cat again wanted to take this chance and committed itself to its escape. So Keido brought his hand towards it, sweeping it back to the middle.

Keido put back his hand in its standy position as he waited for the cat to recover. The two paths to the side were open to if only it was fast enough to pass it. It looked around as if trying to decide. Keido's had turned as well trying to predict which path it would take. Its head stopped, looking to the side and it body tensed. Keido could see which path it wanted to take and he bent his fingers to pull his hand to the front again. Like it shown him, the cat pounced to the side. Only to be denied when Keido bent his fingers down to the ground and straightened them, launching his hand forward to block the cat off. The cat hissed wildly annoyed that Keido kept disturbing it.

As soon as it did it turned his head to the other side and saw it was empty. The cat threw its paws wildly towards it. There was nothing in its mind but to escape. Keido too knew that it was the only thing the cat had on its mind that it wanted to do. And his other hand clapped on the ground hard, pushing his hand forward and across the cat's path of escape. The cat after so many times of being blocked off and pushed back in a strong sweep stopped and waited for its next chance.

The game between them. The one which the cat decided which path to escape with and Keido watching the cat's every movements to try and predict it to cut it off continued this way. Always ending with the cat either being blocked off or getting pushed back with a sweeping blow from Keido's arms. Until finally both of the participants got tired. Keido's hand was sore from having to put so much weight on it on the ground and his arm hurt from always having to hit the cat. When the cat rested, Keido decided to do the same. His arms were still at the same position pressing down to the ground. But this time to support him as he folded his legs upwards. He decided it was time to try and give his legs a shot at practicing kicking.

This cat was a smart animal. It noticed that Keido was trying something new. Something he was unfamiliar and uncomfortable with. But that did not mean that Keido would stop trying, just like the cat. They were very much alike. The cat kept running for the open paths and Keido kept kicking his legs forward to block him off. Still, it was unfamiliar and uncomfortable so he could only keep it up for so long. After numerous kicks, he finally made a mistake. He watched as the cat tensed its body and limbs to pounce. Keido prepared himself. Lifting his shoulder, twisting his waist to the side and pressing on to the other leg and his arms to support his kick. They took a lot of energy and strength. Uncontrolled they can cause him to injure himself.

Keido's hand slipped from all the sweat his hand accumulated. Pushing back suddenly his arm flew up but his weight still traveled down. His kick still went forward but as he fell to the side his aim was off and the kick went far upwards. Falling down he saw the cat run through the empty space opened to it. Keido had failed.

Not led by the Garden (Solo)

Postby Keido on September 15th, 2011, 2:11 pm

He realized that he cannot let the cat escape from him. The cat was the one which was supposed to lead him out. Like it tried to escape him earlier, it will surely try to escape the maze. Keido had to move fast. Quickly he put his weight on the leg above and did a kick downwards as hard as he could. Once it hit the floor, he used his remaining strength left over to push himself up. His remaining arm on the ground contributed as well. Both limbs pushed and lifted him up a.d Keido was kneeling on the ground. His arm still on the ground he reached the other to the net and grabbed it. Keido pushed the arm to propel him forward and he straightened his legs to start moving. Quickly he forced a run to chase after the cat.

"Stop right there and come back!" he yelled as he gave the chase.

Luckily there were a lot of twists and turns they had to take at the Garden. Even if the cat was faster, Keido was still able to keep up. But the cat was slowly getting further. Why? Was it because Keido was already tired? No, because he used his legs less than his arms. Right now even if each step hurt a little bit he could tolerate it. Maybe it was because of the net on his hands. With Keido doing his normal running habits of moving his arm up and down with his legs, it was dragging around even getting caught in the hedges causing him to slow down.

After chasing the cat over many turns, Keido thought he finally found the cat's secret. While Keido had to turn his arms and legs into the direction he wanted to turn, the cat used its small body to its advantage. Instead of doing the same, it leaned into the direction it wanted to turn to. Keido chased it for a while longer with stepping into corners and bringing the rest of his body to follow after changing directions while thinking if he should copy it. After he lost sight of the cat at one turn, he decided he should.

At the next turn to the left, Keido stuck his left foot up. Then he leaned his body to the left as well. His right leg straightened following the length of his body and Keido stomped down on the ground with it. Propelling him in the direction of the turn. Then he stepped his left leg forward into a normal run chasing the cat. He found this was faster and did the same on the next right turn as well.

Finally, Keido started to feel out of breath after a while. He needed to stop the cat soon. He was already had the net on hand so he decided to use that. He took one more turn following the cat and saw that the path was a straight one to the end. Now was his chance. He ran like normal, arms going up and down with his legs on the ground. Then he brought his net down. On the next time he brought it up, he cast it at the cat. He thought, that even if he missed the net falling might stop the cat long enough for him to catch up.

"What are you doing?!?" he shouted at the hedge in front of him.

After so long of not disturbing him, the Garden finally acted. Keido saw that the net fell right on the net but the next moment the hedge started to grow out from the side and formed a hedge right in front of him between him and the cat. Keido got angry and took out his kodachi.

"If that is how it is, fine!" he cried out raising his weapon up.

Keido slashed downwards to the hedge. Intending to cut his way through to the cat. The Garden will not deny him his escape. He needed to see if he was right. He felt it as the blade was going down, cutting through branches and leaves alike. It caused his sword to get slower as it crashed into each branch. Lucky his target was so big and even getting diverted the sword would still hit.

Once it reached down Keido continued his attack. Cutting through across to the other side. A lot of leaves and branches started falling. But no matter how many he cut, he still could not get through. Wildly, Keido started slashing into the hedge. Maybe the Garden could feel pain because finally it opened the path to show the cat.

Keido went to release the cat from the net. But when he did he turned only to find the exit? He knew it. Following the cat would have taken him to the exit. The Garden didn't care about the cat, it only cared about keeping Keido lost.

"Goodbye and thanks" letting the cat on his way and he headed back. Happily thinking he was closer to beating the maze.

Hitting or punching or kicking the cat enough to push it back would definitely injure it.

Also, you don’t need to go and intimately describe every movement your character makes. We know what someone push/jumping to their feet looks like; yet you describe everything in terms of muscles and now he did this and then that—not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it should be saved for the feats of strength that actually requires him to shut down and focus on exactly what he’s doing.

And you should know that his ‘confirmed’ theory is not true, the garden would not have let the cat out easily. That is not the nature of the place. It could still happen by chance, so, what happened in still possible, but I want you to know that so there will be no misunderstandings.
