Now more confident with his new weapons, it was time to test them out in a real fight. There was no better place to do that than at Akeldama since Shale would want to put a good match for an entertaining fight. With all his weapons, Keido went to Alvadas to try and get what he wanted. A familiar face greeted him almost straight away.

"Ah Keido. Thought after what happened with the boys you will have ran. Hurry up then. I got the perfect match for you." the shark kelvic told him, rushing him through the black gates.

"It is good that you have brought all these weapons with you. Your new opponent is special. A real monster. And you are going to end him" pointing his finger straight at Keido's chest.

End him? Did Shale mean kill? He knew Keido does not sign up for deathmatches. What is this colosseum owner up to? Keido would have to reject him right away before he gets thrown into anything else.

"Shale, I don't kill for entertainment. You know that." he said in a cold voice. Glaring at Shale as he did.

"Ah, but you will be doing the world a favor. You see, your opponent is one of those ziths. And we caught him with a lot of bodies around him. All smaller than he was." Shale said with a grin.

Shale was good. Very good at manipulating Keido. Hinting that the zith was a mass murderer, and killing children while he was at it? It just made Keido mad. Without thinking he held his weapons looking all serious and stared intensely at Shale.

"That is a good look, I take it you want to see justice?" Shale asked again with a smirk of success.

Keido just nodded. Justice must be done. And anymore talking he might waver. The zith was a monster and for the sake of the world must be destroyed. He had spent quite some time in Cyphrus. He knew how the natives treated the zith. With hostility and aggression. With good reason. The zith were nothing more than wild animals. If they could even be seen as people, it would only mean they were the worst and if you cannot control them you will have to exterminate them.

"I'll do it, just take me to him" with a gulp, he said these words softly. If he didn't finish this dangerous predator, then it might hurt other people who went against him without mercy as its nature.

With his decision made, Keido passed the black gates. His spear and net already drawn. His eyes searched all over for his hated foe and found him at the side. Claws already held up and wings spread trying to intimidate him. Keido returned its hissing with a roar of his own. Holding the spear and throwing wild thrusts at the air towards it.

The zith seemed unfazed by Keido's returned and his roaring only excited it more. The hiss became into a low growl and then into a louder roar and it extended its wings to look bigger. Licking its lips at fresh blood, it started to advance menacingly at Keido ready to strike.

But without weapons how can it be any threat to Keido? Keido may be using the weapons he was just learning right now but he still had his favorite kodachi to fall back on if it fails. The spear was still dangerous all the same. A little swipe or stab is still capable of wounding the zith. And what did the zith have? Keido could not see nothing amiss. Besides the loincloth there was nothing else. Unless the zith was hiding a weapon under it, Keido could not think how it was going to fight him.

Keido still had his back at the gates with no where else to go with the zith coming from the front. It looks like he was going to have to stand his ground and try and chase it off until he could get a better position. So it was good he brought his spear even if he was not too good with it. Keido planted his feet to the ground and started looking for the targets he wanted on the zith's body.

"Keep away unless you want to get hurt!"

Which was a stupid warning. This was a deathmatch and in the end, someone will die and if Keido did not want to be that person he would have to kill the zith. The zith laughed ignoring the warning and continued on. Keido's eyes scanned and found that the largest target on the zith's body would be its spread wings. While not ideal, he hoped that the pain would make the zith retreat long enough.

He brought the spear back still pointed at the zith. Keido wanted to be prepared to strike at a moments notice and also keep the zith confused as to his actual range. He watched the zith taking his steps. Just a few more. Closer, closer... Keido leaned forward, plunging the spear upwards and to the side at the zith's wing. It saw it, laughed and made a circular motion to push the spear away.

The problem with the spear for Keido was once it moved, it took him quite some time to recover. He won't be able to get faster until some more practice he knew. He should have taken some extra time before attempting to use it in a real fight. The zith still casually took its time to get closer. Keido had to recover quickly and hope that he would have enough time for another attack.

He allowed the spear to follow through its movements and brought it to the ground. Keido pulled back his shoulders and arms while leaning forward even more. Putting pressure on the spear. Then he extended his arms, pushing on the spear even more and lifting him back. His body went backwards. He took his arms with him and carried the spear towards him. Thankfully his legs were firm and he did not fall and the spear got back on his hands.

"You think you are safe?" the zith suddenly taunted.

Who knew it could talk? Keido always thought it was some primitive monster. But this one just showed some sign of intelligence. It still won't convince Keido to not kill even if taking the life of a sentient was bad. This revelation only strengthened his resolve. Intelligence and cruelty just made the zith a lot more dangerous to leave alone.

Keido circled the spear in hands around the bottom to the other side taking aim at the next wing. How long could the zith block him off? He pulled back the spear again for another attack. In a yell he threw it forward, going straight for the wings as fast as his arms could take it.

Another crude laugh was accompanied by the zith sweeping Keido's spear to the side. By then it was already very close. Keido did not have enough time to draw back his spear for another stab. So he had to attack another way. Forget about wounding, he needed to get some distance. So Keido tensed up his arms and put his strength to go against the direction of there the zith sent the spear. It slowed down and stop. But Keido still continued with his efforts. The spear picked up speed as it headed to the zith. By the time the zith could tell what has happened, the spear shaft smashed right into its arm and pushed the zith to the side until he fell on the ground on the other side.

Without waiting, as soon as he heard the crash Keido made a mad dash to the middle of the arena as fast as he could get his legs to move. He turned around to see that the zith was recovering and getting up. Looking very angrily at him. If he had enough time to get scared, it meant he had enough time to fight and so after a few seconds wasted of getting his emotions in check Keido gripped the spear in front of him pointed at the zith.

"You are going to regret that human!" the zith yelled angrily.

It was the zith's mindset changed. It got more serious and Keido could see that. The way it looked like the zith moved its legs were the same as a predator stalking its prey. The zith took big, silent steps to get closer to Keido but he could see that it had its knees bent as well. Ready to at any time pounce on him if given the chance.

The zith no longer spoke. It just walked round and round Keido was it waited patiently. Keido always spun in place to follow. Keeping his spear aimed at its body. It was good that he decided to change his location from the entrance gate to the middle of the arena. He gave his spear enough room to maneuver while allowing him a better position to defend from. While his hands started to get tired from holding up the heavy spear in hand to keep the zith away, he knew that the zith must be tired as well with having to walk around a large circle and keeping up his legs in its stance.

While it was stalking Keido, he saw that the zith twisted its foot to spin its body towards its prey. Keido knew that the attack was coming and held up his spear higher. Always trained on the zith's chest. Then when he saw it was getting too close, he pulled back the spear and threw it forward with a great yell. Eventhough he always had his eye on his target, the zith's chest, the spear hit nothing but thin air. Keido who was still not used enough to his new weapon took too long in drawing back his spear. The zith when it was the movement leaped up and started to flap its wings to fly up.

"You have to do better than that human" he said tauntingly as it picked up its height.

Keido wouldn't give up just because the zith had a height advantage. And he had a spear. A spear which was very long. Keido bent his knees getting down into a squat and followed through with his arms. He would appear very small to the zith with half of the spear sticking out from the top. Keido just circled and swung the spear on top of him randomly. Trying to throw the zith off. Until finally the zith had enough and started diving to swoop down in an attack.

Because he had his eye on the zith, he could tell when it was about to dive when the wings stopped moving and got positioned upwards to offer less wing resistance. Keido was down, far enough to give him enough time to react. Once he saw that the zith has picked up enough speed that it could not change his movements, he pressed his weight on his feet to propel his body upwards. Before his feet got straightened, he watched for the zith's chest. It was coming down head first. Keido was going to have trouble sticking it into the chest since the head was blocking.

What was he actually thinking of. He was meant to kill the zith. Hitting the chest, hitting the head, the end result would be the same. The zith will die and justice will be done. But the time he took to decide this brought the zith closer and probably gave the zith enough time to guess Keido's intentions. Keido extended his arms up to the air at the zith. The spear pointed straight out at it. No matter where he hit it would hurt. With the combination of his own thrust and the zith's dive. But once the spear was in the air, the zith suddenly brought its claws forward and held on to the spearhead. Carrying it to the side where it would miss the zith completely.

"You should have hit me faster!" the zith shrieked as if enjoying itself.

It threw Keido's spear to the side as it landed and body slammed into him. Keido had no choice. The spear was moving too fast and the impact of the zith forced him to release the spear where it flew to the side. The zith was right on top of him. Pulling its claws back to attack with a malicious grin on its face. Without the spear, Keido's own hands were free. This would be the zith's mistake to think Keido needed a weapon to fight as well.

The zith brought one claw down which Keido threw his own open palm forward towards. Closing and clutching the wrists of the zith to hold it in place. Then the zith brought its other claw down which Keido also intercepted and held in mid air. Both fighters were struggling against each other. The zith who was trying to get its claws on Keido and Keido who was trying to get the claws away from him. It got closer and closer until it was very close to Keido's face. The disgusting smell got Keido's attention right to the zith's mouth.

Keido threw his arm to one side and allowed the other arm to follow it. His hips twisted to help propel them to that direction. The zith's claws which were still being held tightly followed, along with its entire body. Once the claws were away from Keido's face he stopped fighting with the zith's downwards pressure. Pulling down towards the ground as well to help it. Then when it started falling, Keido released his grip and threw a backhanded punch at the zith while he swung the arm back to its side of his body. The zith screamed in pain before joining Keido down on the floor.

It did not stop there. Keido lifted his arm on the same side of the zith up in the air and brought down its entire length on what he hoped was the zith's chest. Even when it landed he continued putting his energy on it. Squeezing at the zith. He could feel the zith struggling to move and get up, so Keido had to move first. His free hand he pushed on the ground besides him. Using the force on both arms, one on the ground and one of the zith, he pushed his own body up and once it got high enough he started pushing on his legs as well.

Keido stood up with his net. The only other weapon he had. The zith was still on the ground. Delayed from its recovery by what Keido did. Keido will not be allowing the beast to get up. He spread out the net as far as he could stretch his arms. The zith was so near that he did not even have to throw. Taking a few steps forward towards it, he flicked his wrist upwards causing the net to go up. Once it extended across the zith's body he released his grip on the net. Causing it to fall to the body lying on the ground.

The zith started pulling and pushing the net to try and get it off him. But the weights kept it down where Keido needed it to be. Keido started to look around the arena and caught the familiar gleam of shining metal. He walked up to it and lifted up the spear. The weapon was resilient and well made. Isurs really knew how to do their work. He took some time to see if the spear was still good. Despite the roaring of the crowds for him to do something, Keido held the spear behind him and plunged it forward into thin air. Good, it was still the same and undamaged.

With a weapon in hand Keido can finish the job just like the crowd wanted him to. He turned around to face the zith. All he needed was a simple plunge in. But he saw that the space below the zith was empty. Somehow the zith escaped and was on the loose. Keido knew that it wanted to kill him.

Keido searched wildly in front of him failing to see anything else other than the fallen net. Then he looked up to where he thought the zith might be since it liked to fly. Again there was nothing. Nothing but the sky and the excited looks of the spectators. Some shouted about attacking and looking out. Keido wondered what they meant and found out when the zith smashed him from behind and threw him forward. The zith somehow escaped and got behind him, it was a formidable opponent.

In order to catch himself from falling, Keido had to throw the spear in front. Again he had lost his weapon. His two arms which stretched outwards caught his fall and he kicked off his legs to run. Hearing the sound of something slashing at the air right behind him where the zith missed. Keido stopped at the front and turned around, only to see the zith charging at him.

Without any other weapon on hand, Keido had to use his hands. He bent his arms and brought down his fists to his waist, opening the legs below to give him a good and solid stance. He saw that the zith was going to swing its claws at him again in its attacks. Keido turned to face the downwards slashing claw which attacked his side in a dodge. Then he turned his eyes to the next claw. Leaning forward to move out of his path. With both the claws needing time to recover, Keido straightened his body to face the zith again. With a smile he drew back his fists some more, throwing them forward right at the zith's torso and sent it staggering backwards.

The zith grabbed its chest and started to breath loudly. Keido used the time to draw out his other weapon, his kodachi. This would be a good time for him to switch from its usual defensive use to offence seeing that he wanted to kill the zith and a blade would be the most effective. He charged forward at it, holding with both hands on the hilt drawn back to his waist. Keido intended to put all his strength into this strike and finish off the zith once and for all.

He got closer and closer. And the zith started to straighten up and recover. Keido would put it back down where it stood and extended his leg one last time to help stabilize his aim. once he felt his foot on the ground, he threw his arms forward, straight at the zith full of speed. The zith saw this with not much time to block and decided to dodge. It weaved its body to the side in an attempt to dodge but its wings were just too big. What Keido failed to do earlier with the spear worked with the kodachi and it ripped through the wing making a big hole in the wing. The zith won't be able to use his flight to escape any longer.

"Stupid human. That was my wing!" it cried out with renewed ferocity.

Keido held out his weapon again to defend himself from the zith's charge. He was hoping that the sight of the weapon will make the zith think twice but it did not slow down. It continued on waving its claws around with Keido getting confused on which would come first. He only had one sword and the zith had two claws. If only it wasn't waving the claws like that.

He decided that he would take a risk. He focused on the zith's left claw. If the zith attacked with the right he will take the hit but try to reduce the damage however he can. Like he thought the zith slashed at him. Keido leaned his right shoulder back. Narrowly dodging the claw which slashed across. But that brought his other shoulder forward. The zith took advantage and made a grab at the shoulder. Squeezing its claws into Keido to try and hold him. Trying to forget about the pain, Keido slashed his kodachi upwards. But he forgot about wanting to attack the left claw. Instead hitting into the outstretched claw in his shoulder. It dug deep into zith flesh and Keido hoped that the zith now feels the same pain he feels with the claws in his shoulder as the zith released him.

The zith wrapped its claw on the wound to stop the bleeding. In a howl it started to lift its arm up. Keido could see where this was going. He done it sometimes himself. Supporting one arm with another to throw in a strong punch with the accumulated force. Keido had to stop it and fast. Dropping both his arms, he focused all the energy to his leg. Keido lifted the leg up and then extended it at the charging zith. Hitting into the zith's chest and sending it backwards.

The fight has gone on long enough. Keido darted to the net behind him. Dropping to his knee and picking it up. It happened soon as he wanted. He turned only to see the zith charging again this time with one thing in his mind. Keido would have no time to throw this net. He would have to try the same trick he had done last time.

Keido extended the net across him. Waiting for the zith to smash into him. He felt the zith hitting into his chest and brought his hands together. Just like how he did it the first time. Simple. The let followed his arms and wrapped around he zith. Catching the zith and bringing both Keido and the zith to the ground. The zith on top of him continued. Even though its movements were halted by the net it still wanted to attack. Keido had a hard time blocking off its short and quick movements. Pushing back the zith's elbow or bringing his knee up to block leg for leg. The net which was being pushed forward by the zith's own attacks started to make their mark of long lines in Keido's skin.

The pain and annoyance for to Keido. Taking a few blows, he pulled his arms back. He waited until the zith was more sure with its own movements. Consistently hitting in a rhythm. Keido timed the next hit from the zith and after getting it in his chest he threw his arms forward. He could feel the net digging into his hands and the zith's furry body behind it. Keido continued pressing forward until he lifted the zith up.

Once it got high enough, Keido sent his own knee to the zith. The force of the impact went into the zith and lifted it up forward. Keido twisted his body to the side, directing the zith to where it should fall and it remained trashing in the net while Keido got himself up again.

He was not going to make the same mistake twice. Keido forgot all about the spear and took his kodachi in hand again. He stood before the zith who was still trying to escape. If he was lucky he might be able to see how it did it. But he would not take the chance. If it did escape then Keido would have to fight again. Keido stood before the zith. His face cold and without expression. Then he lifted up his kodachi for one final strike.

Keido was going to have to aim in between the net. It cost him quite some money and he did not want to damage it before he got better with it. The kodachi was lifted up and pointed down at the zith. Keido tried to aim between one of the holes so it would go through and cut into flesh instead of cutting into mesh but the zith which was trashing around made it hard. Keido got a little angry and lifted his leg backwards.

"Stop moving around!" Keido snarled.

The sent the foot back forward in a kick at the zith. The zith yelled and rolled to the side following the blow. It was good then. With its face on the ground Keido would not have to see it when he delivered the killing blow. A good things for small favors. Keido crouched down beside the zith put the kodachi above. He saw that the Keido was focused on getting back on its feet. Instead of trashing around it put its claws to the ground to lift itself up. The linear movements made things easier.

As the zith lifted its back up, Keido did the same with his kodachi. When it stopped to try and get back on its feet the kodachi came down. It brushed against the mesh of the net without cutting it fortunately but the net started to become crimson red. Red where the blood of the zith was absorbed while Keido cut into it. But it was still up. Keido wanted the monster down and pushed the kodachi some more and with it the zith who crashed on the ground.

So Keido did one of his first kills in the arena. Satisfied that he ended the life of a bloodthirsty beast but regretting that he had to resort to killing all the same. The crowd did not share his sentiment and cheered at seeing blood being spilled for them. Keido pulled out his weapon and untangled the net. Grabbing all his equipment he left to go home and rest for the day. Hopefully to sleep off the fact that there is not blood on his hands.
