Fall Day 26, 511 AV Lyth watched from his adoptive father's office as he spoke to the young lady in his studio. He had watched as she came for the last ten years, taking sword lessons from his father. Sometimes taking up his entire day. At the beginning he had hoped that her visits would make Talcum cancel his own lessons for the day. However the man seemed to have endless amounts of energy, training the girl all day, forcing Lyth to train throughout the night, and still be up at dawn. It was unnatural, and more than once he had asked how he managed it. Talcum would just smile, and answer that he never felt tired. The girl left, and Lyth slipped out of the office, coming to stand beside Talcum. The man looked over at him, frowning lightly. "You know you can be present when she's here, Lyth. She'll be one of us soon." One of us meaning a night angel; a form of assassin. The younger male matched his father's frown. "She seems too soft. She can't kill." He sounded jealous, even to his own ears, and he was pretty sure Talcum could see it. It was an act, one he knew the older man enjoyed. Proving that his thoughts were correct, the man's arms wrapped around him, pulling him backwards and pinning the younger man to his chest. "Lyth, we've been through this. You have nothing to be jealous for." Those dry lips, chapped and rough, ran down the expanse of his neck, eliciting a small shiver from the younger. If there was one complaint he had about Talcum, it was his pervertedness. He hid it well from the rest of the world, but the man had the strangest fantasies. And since his adoption, Lyth had been an outlet for them. "You're my son, and no one will ever replace you." The young man's eyes flicked to the mirrored walls, checking if Talcum could see his expression, and seeing that he could, brought a gentle smile to his lips. Talcum practically purred at his compliance, looking as though he wanted to devour his adoptive son. "Hnn~ I wish you weren't so busy today~" Lyth was released, able to turn around and face the man, confusion etched on his features. Had someone asked for him to take a contract? From the smile that stretched Talcum's lips, it was something a bit more important. "I agree, that girl is too soft. So we're going to make her experience a bit of suffering, which should toughen her up." Lyth raised a brow. This seemed interesting. "There is no one closer to that girl than her mother, Maeva. So, I want you to leave a nice scene for her to come home to." Lyth's customary smile broke out into a wide grin. It was comparable to that of a child being given a new toy. "You mean... I get to break the rules?" he asked tentatively. The rules, or at least the ones that Talcum had given him to follow, were that he only take a life if he was getting paid, and that the kills had to be as clean as he was possibly capable of. Which, in the beginning, wasn't very impressive. Talcum smiled, giving his boy a small nod. Lyth, in an uncharacteristic show of emotion, laughed. A real laugh, full of happiness and excitement. "Oh~ This brings out the artist in me!" The white haired male did a spin, clapping his hands together. It had been years since he had been allowed to properly mutilate a body. A hand came down on his shoulder, bringing Lyth back down from his sudden elation. His bright eyes looked up to meet those of his father's. "Keep the damage inside the house, Lyth." |
