Fall 50 - 511 AV
It was an early breezy morning the salt fresh in the air, the wind blowing in from the sea bringing sounds of gulls and crashing waves with it. The sun only just creeping over the horizon forging long darkened shadows from the buildings, Herb still resting in his small bed wrapped up in warm thick blankets of fur. Morning was coming, along with it the grand tasks for the day. He'd been hearing of a tutor down at the University that knew a lot of things about his favorite topic of herbs and plants, so today he would wander down there and try to find her, he wanted so much to learn every bit of information, use and remedy that a herb could provide. This was his one chance he thought.
An hour or so passed, as he began to stir the sun now lit up the room, illuminating the contents and shining into his eyes. Squirming and lifting his blanket up over his eyes, he moaned about the early hour, but rolled out and sat up on his bed, legs dangling over not quite long enough to reach the floor, but being his usual self pushes off the bed and lands feet first on the floor, turns round and makes his bed, which mostly consists of arranging the furs. His morning routine was done with almost no delay, washing his face in the bowl on the side, grabs a small slab of clay from the cupboard and gingerly eating it while going about tidying up the workspaces from the previous nights work. Outside his little herb garden was sheltered just enough to let the sun and rain in, but to keep some of the frost to come off his precious plants, looked it over to check the plot was still growing properly, removing some of the weeds that he deemed shouldn't be there, and if he thought it might be useful replanting it in another section.
The morning rode on slowly, but his morning chores were finally done, now was the time to get about what he needed to do with the day. Back in the shack he grabbed his staff from it's resting place on the wall, and slung his bag over his shoulder before leaving, making sure to lock the door behind him. Walking slowly through the streets making sure to avoid the giants stomping about on their own morning adventures. Before long he was standing outside the University, looking up at the truly daunting prospect of going inside this massive building, but he soldiered on and in through the main door's looking for the reception desk, which as he found out was almost directly in front of him, as he got close he noticed a sign with various names and their subjects along with arrows pointing off in each directions. Looking through the list he spotted what he was looking for a Lilia Allis, now he had a name and a direction, so off he marched, staff tapping lightly along with this quiet foot steps on the tiled floor, following every arrow he spotted or if he couldn't spot one he'd ask a passerby on which way to go.
After about ten minutes of wandering round, and getting lost a few times he found the door he was after, which by pure fortune was open. He knocked loudly on the door and walked inside, ' Erm hello there, is this the room of Lilia Allis? ' He looked around the room as best he could due to his short stature. |
