The hooded man and the yak (Krivak)

11th of winter 511 AV

At this very moment, coren was not very happy as he pushed himself out of the thick layer of snow that he had met face to face only a few moments earlier, grumbling as the huge amount of snow stuffed underneath his robe dropped further down his back and some slipped into his breeches he was wearing underneath thim. Did they really have to be such hardarses about a simple joke he played on them? Sheesh, old people these day's they really are a humorless lot.
Coren tapped his gnosis and melted down the snow stuffed down his robe, hissing as the cold water ran down his back and soaked everything he was wearing underneath his robes. Cursing his own stupidity at that move and blessing morwen for the fact her mark made him more resistant to the cold. Still he rather heat himself up a bit and get some fresh clothes before he got frostbite.

He quickly scrambled towards the edge of the roof and looked over the sides, looking for the ladder that he should have left standing on the edge. Only to let out another growl of frustration as he saw it lying on the ground, those bastards having thrown it down so he would be stuck. Coren snorted as he sat down on the edge of the roof and shoved his hands in his pockets and closed his eyes concentrating on the steady glow of his djed as he slowly pushed the astral body of both his arms out of his real body. As he opened his eyes he took a look at the ghostly hands only visible to his own eyes and flexed them out of habit to check if they worked right. As he had done that he quickly stretched his projected arms to the ladder lying on the ground and began dragging it upwards and lifted one part of it up and slowly, but surely began dragging it over towards the edge of the roof. As his entire mind was focused on that single task he didn't keep an eye on anything else.

The hooded man and the yak (Krivak)

Postby Krivak on December 20th, 2011, 1:54 am

Krivak had just finished eating some fruit he'd never seen before. He had no idea what it was called or where it was from but it was delicious. It had a sour kick in the teeth, followed by an everlasting sweetness and juiciness. And he was about to pay for stealing it.

He had just left his own private stall, and was meandering down the corridor that led out to the stable yard. A large male Frostfawn that he'd seen several times before was carrying a strange spiky fruit. It was yellowish brown, and had some green spiked leaves sticking out the top of it. The man had set the strange fruit down on a shelf jutting from the stable walls. He then drew a large knife and lopped off the top and the sides, leaving a large, rectangular chunk of glowing, dripping, golden fruit.

CRASH!

There was a loud clatter of something at the opposite end of the stable, and the Frostfawn man took off toward it, leaving his fruit in the open. Krivak wandered up to it and sniffed at it. It had a sweet, tasty smell to it. So, Krivak licked it. It was a glorious and exotic flavor! Krivak had never experienced anything sour before, so this was definitely new to him. He kept licking at it vigorously until the initial taste was gone. So he grasped it in his jaws and bit down. The juice exploded into his mouth and down his throat. He couldn't stop himself, so he kept munching on the fruit, even eating the rinds the man had cut off earlier. Krivak even licked the spot the fruit had rested until there was nothing left.

It was about a bell later after Krivak had wandered off from the scene of the crime when he felt the repercussions of his dirty deed. His stomach was rolling, and gurgling, and causing him a hefty amount of discomfort. He noticed he was behind some building or other, and decided this would be a good place to relieve himself of the pressure building. The result was not pleasant in the least, but he felt much better and was sitting there enjoying his relaxed state.

Then a large stick thing began to rise from the ground. It was two really long branches connected by several small branches. And it was rising right toward him. He saw nothing that could be causing this to happen so he did the only thing he could in this situation. He defended himself. He stamped his feet, snorted, and lowered his horns. He charged forward at the ladder. His thick skull struck one of the rungs, his horns hooking over it. He was now pulling at the ladder as he continued to charge from the building.

The hooded man and the yak (Krivak)

Postby Coren on December 20th, 2011, 1:42 pm

Coren didn't notice the yak that was walking up on his work until it was to late and the yak charged the ladder he was trying to lift up, accidentally hooking his horns in the ladder and pulling it away. Coren's eyes widenend in shock as he saw what happened and felt the strain the massive beast was putting on his projected limbs. So he did the only thing that shot into his mind right now and let go of the ladder, before the strain would drive him into overgiving and pulled his projected arms back out of a reflex.

“Who the hell let that damned wild animal loose!!” Coren yelled out in a mixture of anger and shock as he stood up and looked around for anybody who could be his handler slowly angling his projected limbs so that they lined up with their respective limb once more and slowly began pushing it back inside, hoping that the damn yak would let the ladder drop and get out.
“And will whoever let that dumb animal loose calm it down and give me my ladder back!” Coren continued his yelling, strangly though enough he didn't see any vantha around. So he doubted the handler was even near here. What vantha would be dumb enough to let a dumb yak run around without any kind of control? What if somebody got hurt by the dumb beast? Coren let out a sigh, he better get down here so he could go and inform the icewatch about the yak running around in avantal. They probably would be able to capture it without getting gored by its horns. That got him to the current problem.. how in the name of morwen would he get down from here?

The hooded man and the yak (Krivak)

The ladder that hung awkwardly from his horns skewed to the side, so that the two ends were pointing out to each side. He continued sprinting forward trying to get the blasted thing off of him. He lowered his head in the hopes that it would slide off, his eyes drifting off the path ahead. As his muscles surged him forward, a pair of trees loomed ahead. The two ends of the ladder connected with the trunks.

CRACK!!!

As Krivak's thick skull forced its way through the center of the ladder, the satisfying sound confirmed the death of the strange object for Krivak. He continued his charge, curving back toward the building at which the infernal thing had appeared. He slowed to a walk and neared where the object began to rise. He sniffed at the print it left in the snow. It smelled like the trees in the area. He continued looking around for something that could have caused it to move. A loud yelling filled the air, in the language of the local people. He still hadn't learned it, but it didn't matter. He looked up at the source, and saw an angry, robed man. Krivak didn't know, or care for that matter, as to why he was so angry. So, he stamped out the imprint of the object and began looking around for something else to eat.

Coren's eyes where twitching as the yak stormed off with the ladder he had been using still hanging from the animal's horns. Here he was, stranded on the top of a roof without a ladder, his clothes where soaked in cold water and he probably was going to get hell from the person who needed his ladder back. How was he going to explain a yak broke the damn thing? Even he barely believed what happened here and he was the one who saw it. Coren suppressed letting out a string of curses as he began looking around for any other way he could get down without breaking any of his limbs.

As he was looking around for anything to get down, and finding exactly nothing to get down he just plopped down on the edge of the building, hoping somebody would just walk past him and see the predicament he was in and hopefully before he got a small case of frostbite. His blessing of morwen wasn't potent enough yet to ward that off completely. As he sat down however he noticed the same dirty yak slowly trodding down towards the same place his ladder used to lay, snif around for a little bit and then looked up at him for a few seconds before stamping out the imprint of the ladder and beginning to sniff around the building.
“Stupid animal.” Mutered coren underneat his breath as he glared at the yak below him. Grabbing a handfull of snow and throwing it at the massive creature out of pure spite.

The hooded man and the yak (Krivak)

Postby Krivak on December 29th, 2011, 11:58 pm

The angry man hurled a ball of snow at Krivak. Krivak saw it coming and didn't flinch. The snowball hit him between the horns, crumbling upon impact. He shook his head roughly, the loose snow falling away. It didn't hurt, but it did anger him. But the man was on a roof. There was nothing he could do if the man was still up there. He snorted and kicked up some snow, then began to circle the building, all while keeping an eye on the angry man.

On his way back around, he saw an idea forming in his mind, a trick he used back in Ravok. He saw a large, thick, wide beam leaning against the neighboring house. He was used to hauling wood around, now it would finally become useful. He got between the beam and the house and began pushing with his shoulder. He grunted and strained as he pushed the heavy beam. He continued to push and push and push, until he felt the weight disappear. The beam fell toward the building the man was on, and collided into the beam that was part of the roof. He breathed a sigh of relief when nothing broke, master hated it when he broke things.

Then he began the climb.

He stepped shakily onto the now slanted beam. Surprisingly, it didn't wobble or shake a bit. He continued upwards, slowly but surely, the beam easily supporting his weight. He got confident, and rushed a few more steps up the beam, and found himself atop the central beam of the house. He bellowed loudly, challenging the man, where ever he was, while looking around for him.

Coren felt his frustration ebb away as he could easily pelt the dumb animal snowballs with as much snowballs as he wanted. Sure any frostfawn who would see him would probably hit him for being cruel to animals but the dumb beast broke the only way he could get off the roof that didn't involve him falling off for morwen's sake! When the beast let out an angry snort and began circling the house, trying to find a way to get to his tormentor coren couldn't help to let out a laugh. No way that the yak could ever climb up here. He just shook his head and stopped irritating the yak, ignoring it as it wandered out of his sight and began to try and think up a way to get of the damn roof without breaking a leg in the process.

Coren was pulled out of his thoughts by the sound of something heavy falling against the roof, His eyes widened in horror as the yak was now climbing the wide and heavy beam it seemingly had pushed over.
“Oh crap.” Coren muttered to himself as he quickly slid the the edge of the roof just as the yak led out a loud chalenging bellow. He either underestimated how smart the thing was or he was a kelvic and he seriously was doubting the yak was a normal animal, no animal was that smart! Having no choice to just do the first plan that had come to his mind coren just grabbed on to the ledge and slowly lowered himself downwards, trying to get at least some less distance between him and the ground before dropping himself, landing hard on the cold ground and scrambled back on his feet, he really was going to feel that in the morning as he began to run away as quickly as he could from the place, slightly limping from the fact he just dropped from the roof of a single story building.

The hooded man and the yak (Krivak)

Postby Krivak on December 31st, 2011, 4:44 am

Krivak's eyes fell on the man, and he issued another challenging bellow. And then he his challenger did the most shameful thing any male could do. He turned tale and fled the challenge. This confused Krivak for a moment. Why would any male not want to challenge him? If they beat him, which was impossible, but still, they would gain the respect of all the females in the town. But instead, he ran, shaming him and his heirs forever. Did he not want to increase the size of his herd? After all, the man challenged him first with his snow attacks.

The man slid off of the roof to the snow below. Krivak snorted in disgust. He hoped the man got hurt in his fleeing. Krivak now needed to get himself down. But the beam wasn't wide enough to turn around, and he wasn't dumb enough to jump off of the roof and hurt himself. So he began backing up, back toward the beam he had used to get up here. He made sure to watch behind him, so that he wouldn't veer off to the side. He made his first step onto the slanted beam, testing it to make sure it was safe. He continued onward, putting the second of his hind legs onto the beam. At first it seemed fine. Then his weigh shifted, and his hind legs began to slip. He had a split second to react, and he did so by backing up further. He didn't want to bust up his stomach on the end of the beam, so by backing up, he slipped further down the beam, but was able to get his forelegs beneath him. He then knelt down on to them as his full weight slid down the beam. The friction burned the skin on his forelegs, and he bellowed in pain when he crashed into the snow below.

He was angry, hurt, and shamed. He recovered his footing and looked around for the challenger that had brought all this upon him. He didn't see him right away, so he walked around the building to where the man had leapt off. He saw a deep pit in the snow, so he assumed that's where the shamed one had landed. He sniffed it, trying to get a scent for the man. His nose wasn't his strongest sense, but it was something. While sniffing at the spot, his eye noticed tracks walking away from the pit. One side of tracks was slightly longer than the other. Krivak was pleased. His challenger had been injured. He began following the tracks, taking care to keep a good eye on them, as well as the path ahead. He kept a moderate to slow pace, as his shins still hurt. He would find this man and show him what happens when you challenge a bull.

The hooded man and the yak (Krivak)

Postby Coren on January 3rd, 2012, 10:34 pm

Coren didn't pay any attention to the loud pained cry he hard coming from the building he had been running away from just a few moments earlier, he had only one thought on his mind, lose that yak that was probably going after him, seeing as how pissed it was before he bailed from the scene as fast as his limp allowed. He wasn't an whitevine but he guessed his left ankle was sprained by the way a pang of pain always followed whenever he tried to put to much weight on it. Well it seemed that running away or trying to climb on another roof wasn't an option, though he doubted the yak wouldn't just find another way on the roof and he couldn't outrun a yak anyway. So he had only one way left, try to find a crowd and lose the beast in it, sure it might let a few vantha panic when a yak bull was on the lose, there where always icewatch members nearby busy centers just in case. So if anything happened it would be contained fast enough so there where no casualties. At least he hoped so.

Making as much haste as his left foot could handle towards the frozen falls market, it was the closest place where there was sure to be lots of people at this time of the day and maybe there where a few nice frostfawn there who would be willing to take this beast back to the stable's where it belonged. Before it really flipped out and hurt somebody. Trying to make sure he didn't make any tracks that where to easy to follow, he didn't think the yak would have any hunting instincts so no need to track anything but he underestimated the yak once, better not dismiss something outright with that darn animal!

The hooded man and the yak (Krivak)

Postby Krivak on January 8th, 2012, 3:42 pm

Krivak nearly bumped into a surprised man when he saw that the tracks had led into a large group of people. He grunted in annoyance. The coward had hidden from him, and Krivak wasn't about to start hurting others in his pursuit of his challenger. He almost gave up on the chase, but knew that bulls never give up. He tried to smell the air, but didn't know the man's scent. His ears weren't picking up anything either.

So he set off at a decent trot, looking around for a robed man. He still didn't know the full city real well. He quickly found himself staring up at a strange sight. It looked like a river that got frozen as it fell off a cliff. He'd never seen anything like it before in his life. He was momentarily stopped by its beauty. He quickly recovered, remembering why he was here in the first place. He began looking around wildly. Where could this man---

There he was! The robe! The limp! It had to be him.

Krivak then realized that his prey was already injured. The snowball hadn't hurt much. Maybe. Maybe this fight was already over. After all, his prey was clearly the weaker of them. So Krivak made sure he was in the path where the man would eventually see him. And there he laid down, keeping his head up and watching him from afar.
