Derailey couldn't help but notice how blue the skies were this morning. She walked down the long line of tents that housed several members of the Diamond Clan, her large white dog Solo padding along beside her, searching for the perfect spot to set up her tent so that when she returned to Endrykas, every so often, she would actually have a place to sleep instead of just shacking up somewhere in the War Storm Pavilion. Carrying the large bundle of covering in her arms, her eyes scanned the surrounding area, until finally she spotted a nice little clearing next to a large tree. There were a few other occupants there, but at least it wasn't crowded. Walking over to the clearing, she let the bundle fall to the ground, covered in nicely cut grass, starting to lose it's dark green color from lack of rain. Solo settled down next to a large revealed root that came up out of the ground next to the tree, resting his gigantic head down on the surface, to watch his master try to pitch up a tent. Derailey, sent him an annoyed look, "Thanks for your help." Sighing, she turned her head to see who all was out and about at this hour. Not many, it appeared. Only a few other Drykas roamed. Taking one more second to take in everything around her, she turned to the bundle on the ground and went to work setting up her new home. It wasn't that Derailey had never set up a tent before, no, she had helped her father and brother back when she was younger several times, it's just, she was never any good at it. It took three collapses, two knocked over by the winds, and one misshapenly set up attempts before she was finally satisfied with the work she had done, though, it still didn't look as magnificent as the surrounding tents, it was still stable, and that was good enough for her. She took a few steps back, placing a hand over her eyes so she could see it passed the sun, while her other hand rested on her hip. She gave it a satisfied smirk, motioning toward Solo with her head. "How does it look?" The dog lifted it's head to look at the tent, but put his head right back down to continue sleeping. Derailey frowned at him, "Well I think it looks pretty good." She crossed her arms, letting the breeze ruffle her clothes and blow her hair. It felt nice against this heat wave they were having. Vaguely she wondered how Chel was being treated back at the stables she had left her in, but she wasn't too worried, Chel was smarter than your average horse, in Derailey's opinion and could take care of herself. Walking forward, she lifted up the front flap of the tent, entering it. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was enough to call a home. She tossed her bag to the left corner of the 'room', already taking note that that was probably going to be it's new resting place from now on. She didn't have any blankets or a bed roll, so she would probably have to use her bag to rest her head on. She ran her fingers through her hair. Furniture could wait for a while. She didn't have the money to buy anything at the moment. Derailey left the tent, going to sit next to Solo under the tree. Silently she plopped down next to him, reaching a hand over to scratch behind his ear. "This should do, for now," she said more to herself than anyone. Yawning, she shifted her position so that she was laying against the toned side of Solo, and shut her eyes. She hadn't slept well in a very long time. She had been so stressed with everything going on around her, and the increase of people that no matter how long she slept, she wakes up being more tired than she was when she passed out. Slowly, her consciousness seemed to slip away, as the comforting breeze and the pull of sleep took her in. |
