Most Humans wouldn't understand the importance of grooming. They had their clothing and their hair but other then that it was pretty harmless. To an animal and especially a bird. Grooming was far from trivial. To trust another to take care of his plumage was a great honor. And one gladly given to Hadrian. He loathed how much he trusted the Mage. How far his guard was being lowered. How easy it would be for the man to betray him. Logically speaking this never should of happened. No lover had come this close. And even his own brother wasn't given this much trust. It was appalling, but it felt too good to resist. He let Hadrian pamper him, and tie the note gently around his leg. When Hadrian lowered his arm. Ethan climbed on as gently as he could and let the mage walk him over to the window. The sky was covered with a thick Grey sheet of clouds. The wind was picking up nicely and had a bite to it. Ethan couldn't ask for a more beautiful day. But he was hesitant, reluctant to leave his family. With a deep breath and plenty of regret. He stepped off the window sill and took flight. Ethan had to remember his most important lesson. Never get attached. Attachment only led to more pain. The End
