WORK RANT SAD FACT: I work at McDonald’s DID YOU KNOW? The more McDonald’s you eat, the more delicious you become for Almighty Lord Ronald. And guess who’s making sure you get your daily dose of McDonalds? Me. That’s right. I’m the kid in the kitchen, making sure to sprinkle the patties with enough artery-clogging poison so that when you finish your thirtieth Big Mac you’ll keel over and die so that Ronald can claim your innards for himself. On to reality: people are dumb. My manager is an intolerable prick. I’ve tried contacting her three days in a row to cancel my shift since I’m out of town. As soon as I told her I needed to give away my shift, she hung up on me and wouldn’t pick up when I called again. And again. And again. As if I don’t get enough crap dealing with intolerable teenagers or immigrants who can’t be bothered to learn the English language, now I have to deal with a crappy boss? No offense to immigrants, my parents are immigrants and I think they’re amazing, but seriously these people make my life HELL. This one man walks in with seven rowdy children and custom-orders a dozen sandwiches using a middle-eastern language and some mangled English. And when I struggle to decipher what he’s been trying to tell me, he has the audacity to facepalm and shake his head derisively? GOOD SIR. I did NOT laugh at you when you wriggled your hand in my face exclaiming “FEESH, FEESH, FEESH!” I gave you your stupid fish sandwich with no “sooce”.

This is where the scenario, and my words, get vulgar: You have been warned! Men who use the bathrooms. ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS? It’s a toilet BOWL, it’s HUGE, how do you miss that? And evolution was nice enough to grant you a PENIS. You have a directional tool for your bodily fluids, plus we’ve been nice enough to give you a mounted piss receptacle that stands at a perfect height and flushes itself. Unless you use your phallus to put out fires, there should be NOTHING, abso-fucking-lutely NOTHING on the walls and floor. We aim to please. Would you aim too, please!? Women who use the washroom, you’re amazing. Thank you for making my job easier. A shoutout to the guy who’s always in the back with his laptop: Our free Wi-Fi is NOT there so you can enjoy porn! That’s right. I’ve seen you and your naked latina girls. What the FUCK is wrong with you? Okay, I’m done for now. I know what you mean! For me, if you go to a country NOT your own, you should know that not everybody's going to have an easy time understanding you. I've seen some Westerners get bugged that most of the local people here can't understand their accent. I'm like, oh c'mon, you're the one who came here. >:p

Seriously? I just moved to America with my husband myself, I'm Swedish, and while I have an accent, as you can tell I speak/write English decently. I get to deal with Mexican immigrants all the time (In Texas) who bring their Chihuahuas in for check ups, and of course they can't be bothered to learn English in a fashion in which I can understand them, they just combine spanish and english and expect me to know what they're saying.

I also agree with Gabrielle, I had that problem in Sweden when American Tourists came.

Also insufferable co-workers? I also feel your pain there as well.

Saeriel: Swedish accents are amazing! One of my neighbors is this sweet little old Swedish lady and I love the way she speaks. There's this fullness and richness to the sounds and an almost musical intonation. And I understand every word she says.

Thank you all for your support and empathy! Being on Miz is just a big reminder that there are decent people in the world.

Ah, I'm all the way in Asia. Hahaha! I'm so envious, I've always wanted to go to London and France. At least you know some French... I went through a whole trimester of it and I can only introduce myself. Plus my English accent may be off for them, so then I'd be one of those people we were talking about who goes to another country and can't be understood. Bwahaha.

Yay, another fellow Canadian! There are simply never enough of us. Anyway, I too have known the plight of working at a McDonalds...It has made me hate working with the public and I shall never work there again. I lasted a year and only because I needed money for university. I was stuck on cash though since they needed another male there or else it would look sexist since before me they only had females on cash. I do agree with you though, for the shit we have to put up with we should be making obscene amounts of money. People today are horrible, McDonalds taught me that was customers would lie through their teeth to get free food and say what ever they want about everyone working there simply because they were on the other side of the counter. I even had a horrible manager just like you, though she was only a Swing Manager mostly, she did everything she could to make me feel bad because I was a shy male. Also, it is true, Ronald McDonald does eat the flesh of those who consume his food. The spices make the flesh taste better for him, so I have heard through the grape vine. Beware the clown. Trust me though, McDonalds is not all that bad as it was only due to working there that I got the motivation I have now to get a good job that I will enjoy. Being there taught me just how bad things can get and with that came the motivation to get good enough grades and a degree so that I will never have to go back there, ever. On a complete side note, I hope you enjoy RPing on Mizahar! I may possible stalk your threads since after skimming your CS I like your character...you have been warned.

K E A R N E Y

One of the best places in the world


So I've been meaning to post about this for a while now. The weekend of March 23rd - 26th, I was up North on the border of Algonquin Park in the tiny town of Kearney. Camp Kearney is basically an outdoor retreat where students are encouraged to develop in ways that regular school just doesn't allow. Each of the four days is jam-packed with activities that are both mentally challenging and physically challenging.

I went with a group of grade twelve students, 6 guys and 7 girls. Just a note that since I've known four of the girls since forever and we always got along famously, the teachers and guides actually dubbed us "Daniel and his harem". Of course, when we were around the younger kids, we referred to ourselves as the "Hello Kitty Fanclub".Here I am with three of my "mistresses", the fourth is taking the picture. Not quite sure what we were doing, but judging from the stupid-happy expression on my face, it must've been fun:

The first day was dedicated to getting to know the place, and there was a crazy amount of team-building activities. The picture above was taken during one of those activities.

The second night was intense. We woke up at 6 in the morning, got our camping gear, and hiked into the middle of the forest and found a spot to set up camp. Then we hiked all the way back for lunch, and the rest of the afternoon was filled with climbing rock-walls and aerial courses. Tons of fun, really tiring.



I hated that overhang so very much.

Afterwards, dinner and packing some clothes, and we headed up to the campsite to spend the rest of the night playing games.

The third day was pretty much just as crazy. We all woke up at 5:30 in the morning to pack up our tents with basically no light. The night was freezing by the way. I woke up three times shivering my butt off, but it was so worth it.

The rest of the day was an orientation hike. Basically, we were led into the forest in groups of three/four, given a compass with a bearing (78 degrees north for me) and we were told to make our way to the other side of the forest. I specifically asked for a challenging route, so I had to find a way over three cliffs, two ponds, and dense forest. It's amazing to see what a real forest is like. Sadly, I didn't bring my camera, so I couldn't get any good shots, but here's a picture of when we finally made it to the other side, made another campfire, and made hot dogs:



I'm not in this picture because I'm busy getting my everything dried.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with archery practice. And trust me, there were a lot of failed imitations of Katniss Everdeen. We didn't do anything that night since we all needed the sleep.

The last day was sad since all we basically did was pack up and prepare to leave. This is my third and final trip to kearney with these amazing people. We can't go back together since we won't be part of the school board.

One last picture of us. I'm on the far left, the super yellow kid. That whole ensemble is borrowed from Camp Kearney and it managed to keep all the mud, mud, and more mud off of me.



I made so many amazing memories here with such amazing people that I honestly only covered a fraction of what happened in this post. I wish I could go back again and again, but we've all got to grow up someday. Hopefully I can find those other pictures and put them up here.
