74th Day of Spring
The day came quickly, several creatures began to stir once more, and Aerika didn't make a sound, her body was relaxed and calm. She knew better than to let a simple matter overcome her since the gods Kelwyn were certainly watching over her; if anything horrible would come, the twins were surely come to her rescue. Five men emerged from different tents, followed by different numbers of women, some with chains, several without. Those without waved at the men, even touched their lips before flicking their arms, and walked away. The women with chains were put into individual cages like she was and started crying like some of the other animals. It was then they took notice to Aerika, "You, fox, change." Such a simple sentence, and a simple demand, even though she couldn't understand why they even cared, Aerika changed from her human form back into her turn self. The fox shook her body out, feeling refreshed to be herself again, she couldn't even remember how long it had been. One man grabbed a collar and the others stood close, holding the cage and acting as though they were ready to jump at any moment. "Don't move, or we will kill you," the man with the collar said as she approached the cage himself. The man lifted the lock off of the cage and reached in with his free hand to grab her. Aerika looked up at his hand which made him jump back, so Aerika lowered her head and walked forward, knowing exactly what he was wanting to do. It truly made no difference to her as she liked her true self anyways, so she allowed him to wrap the collar around her neck and just like that, her cage was closed again. The collar was a little tight, but wit a little bit of scratching, the collar repositioned and felt comfortable enough to leave alone.
Closer to the end of the day, the five men began lifting some of the cages and placing them on what could only be explained to her as a giant wagon. At the front of this "wagon" were two large and strong looking horses, neither of which smelled kelvic but its hard to if you're never allowed to be human. When her cage was lifted, she jumped slightly cause it was jerked quickly up and then tossed into the cart. "This one has to be one of the lightest ones so far," the man then chuckled loudly. He looked into the cage to see Aerika, still sitting attentively and laughing at how small she was. "Are you sure this is the girl we heard so much about?"
One of the other men looked over and smiled, almost laughed, but just spoke "Yeah I'm sure alright, she's a killer, an arctic fox kelvic, a young child with a murderous heart, cold and wretched."
"She doesn't look so bad boss, and she looks to small to really be a threat," the other man responded, still looking at her.
"Yeah well tell that to the countless she has killed, some at the local tavern, others in some pit-fights, several out in the streets with no regards to anyone else."
Without saying another word, the man who was starring at her began to frown and hit her cage before walking away. "I guess she also the only fox that has a tattoo like that one." |
