His third day in Syliar, and in her eponymous Knighthood was much the same as his first two. Barely any sleep followed by a grueling days training in the hot sun. But at least there was food, as much as there was for anyone anyway. As evening settled in toward night, Eachann was standing on a street corner, chewing on the dessicated corpse of what might once have been a decent apple. But no flavor and scarcely any juice remained to the fruit, and so it was a slow, rueful manner with which the youth ate.
Despite all of his attempts to make it appear otherwise, he was struck by the sights of the city, from the simple appearances of races he had not seen before to the craftsmanship of a fine piece or the simple costumes some people chose to wear. He had managed to eat most of the apple before he spotted the hulking frame of a midnight black horse maneuvering, alone and apparently unaided through the throng. The animals bulk not only differentiated it from the masses, but also provided a bubble through which to move. No one, it seemed, wanted to be stepped on by such an intimidatingly large creature. One small child in particular.
Oddly, not only did the horse stop for the little girl (an oddity in and of itself) but it also apparently soothed the child. The fallen drykas had never seen such behavior from a seemingly unrelated animal. Palming the remains of the apple, Eachann approached the horse as she stood by the wayside, allowing traffic to move around her. Since he was not a fool, he did so from the front, keeping both his hands visible as he made his approach.
"Hey there.." he greeted the animal in tones as soft as he could use and still make himself heard. From here he noted the white blaze on the animals face and stockings. He decided to make a play on the animals vanity. "You're a pretty one aren't you?" He did not point out that the horse was in a desperate need of a currying. "Do you like apples?" He said, offering the remains of the snack he had been eating. "Here ya go..."
