“I want a coffee.”

Vondra’s look showed only shock as her head swiveled in Matt’s general direction. Rarely did he ask for things and rarely did he ever demand them in such a tone. Before she could ask anything though his fingers laced through hers and she felt the familiar tug of him pulling her along to a proper destination. “Come on.”

“Alright, alright!” she laughed a bit, feeling a bit giddy, “No need to be pushy.”

She didn’t hear a reply and only allowed him to practically drag her, trying to keep her feet paced evenly and keep some shred of her dignity in tack. There were times when she wondered if people though he was her child and most likely they did. It would surprise her, he had to show her around enough times.

Asking him whether he preferred sweet coffee or black she did not miss the way he stumbled slightly, losing some of his previous self-assured manner. It made her grin widely, she enjoyed his company better when he did not act like one of her customers. She enjoyed them but Matt was more than a customer, he wasn’t a brief bit of fun. He was her friend. No matter his weird preferences in keeping her mood up. Not that her mood ever really needed much help unless she was rejected.

Finally mischievous she tugged ahead of him a bit and made it seemed like a small race, him moving faster to get ahead of her and keep her from walking into anything. They continued back and forth, Vondra cheating and tugging him back as she scurried forward around turns and such. She continued to do so even as his nearly accidental belated warning reached her ears. Her entire body thudding none to gently into a door and pushing open. She didn’t need to see his face to know he was smirking and silently laughing at her little blunder.

Straightening herself quickly and mutter almost good naturedly about vengeance she allowed him to nudge her in the direction of the tables and take a seat.

[Yae Varone's]Tea for Two (Valerius)

Postby Valerius Nitrozian on August 2nd, 2012, 6:24 am

For once Valerius Nitrozian didn’t drive to his favourite cafe in a ravosala. He wasn’t accompagnied by a slave that cleared the path for him and made sure people left him alone either. He actually walked there, on foot, alone and unaccompagnied like a normal person. He was still dressed in expensive clothes though so that nobody would mistake him for a normal person. Valerius Nitrozian was not normal. He was an important person, special, a future leader of the Ravokian people and members of the Black Sun – at least in his mind.

He entered the cafe with his head held high and smiled slightly at the sight of the people that were already gathered there, enjoying Yae Varone’s famous coffee. Most of the people that frequented Yae Varone’s were just like him, rich people, members of Ravokian society. Commoners were rarely seen here. That was one of the reasons why he liked the place so much. And of course there were those delicious cookies (although he would never admit it – people like him were not supposed to have a weakness for sweet things).

He sat down at the same table as usual, near one of the windows so that he could see what was going on on the patio and on the canal. He was just about to gesture for a waitress to come closer when he heard a loud thud. He frowned and turned around, looking irritated.

As he saw the woman and her – brother? son? slave? – the frown on his face deepened. She wasn’t unappealing, but there was something about her, about her attire and the way she acted that made it obvious that she didn’t belong to any of the families he usually associated with.

And the boy … while she might have some potential despite the way in which she had entered the cafe, he was just annoying. He decided at once that he didn’t want the likes of him sitting on the table next to him. Valerius did not like children, especially if they were laughing and having fun.

„I’m sorry“, he said and turned to face her. The tone of his voice was cool, a sign that he wasn’t really sorry. „But this isn’t a playground. Either make sure that the boy is quiet and behaves or tell him to wait outside.“
