47th day of Winter 505 AV
Reimancy, glyphing, new element, bla bla bla. Always the same time over and over again and Bob still could not do some of it or...why not do some of it? Did he need Clyde to tell him to do anything? He already knew the basics, he could do it on his own. Yes, he will do it on himself and surprise Clyde with the fact that he can learn how to do things on his own. But the question now is what should he start with first? Should he try getting on that new element first? Or maybe not. He should just start of normally first and see how it goes on after that. Kind of like an equation and what he knew about the ice he was thinking of since it was winter, he only needed to add a little air to his water. The first element he learned how to command.

Being his first that was not too long ago, Bob still remembered how he learned it well. While he was learning a completely new element, he knew it would be easier if he used something that he knew already to help him reach that point. Maybe with some extra things to help now that he also knew it. Taking some of the ink he brought along, Bob dabbed it on his finger since he somehow forgot to bring a brush. Stupid. At least he would never forget his fingers unless they were somehow chopped off. At least no one would find him doing something this childish at this secluded spot where he picked so that he will not be interrupted or disturbed. On his palm he started at one point and then went along the edge getting a rather squarish looking circle. Squarish looking only because he still was aware enough to know that a circle did not have any edges.

The line joined right back at the starting point. "Well that is the focus completed" Bob said quite satisfied with the way he looked and all that was left to finish the glyph was the barriers. Does he even need that? It was not like he was trying to store anything in the glyph but it should be safer to just do it. Being the only thing he was going to make at this point, Bob wrote around the side of his hands Water water water water... since his ill preparation left no space on his palm but looking at it from the proper angle seemed right? Hopefully the glyph looked at it this way too or what he learned about the focus being the only thing required at this point was right.

Now that he was ready, it was time-for-res! Staring at his inked up palm, Bob tried to look at nothing else as he visualized something growing in the middle of the focus the best he could since it was tough to do it on something he was already looking at. It was the djed he wanted and after some time, he felt something growing beneath his skin and when he told it to come out as he imagined it, the smooth liquid that was his res appeared and moved dangerously towards the glyph. "Oh no, that isn't happening again!" he told himself remembering what happened the last time and slanted his hand slightly as he mentally told, actually begged the res to go to the middle.

"Phew" that was a close one. Now that the danger has passed all there was left is to make the water and the res should also know that since the words was all over the surface Bob made it on and instead it did not, he told it "water...water...water... telling the res to chance, transform and transmute. While the changes were not visible, Bob could feel it as the substance became colder in the cool winter air when it lost its magical energy becoming the boring and mundane element he told the res to become even if it did retain its magical nature.

His excitement turned into terror when he saw the water starting to go to the side and as much as he wanted it to turn around, it did not. He only wanted it to become water as a test and he did not have any other use for that so he would have discarded it. He should have left some of it as res to retain some control and shutting his eyes when the water reached the side to trickle down he waited for...nothing... "No explosion!" he yelled with relief. What was the difference? After remembering he knew it was because there was nothing in the glyph. Lucky he did not put anything into it this time.

But still, the glyph was partially gone with half of the letters faded and the line parting halfway through. Bob had to do it all over again before he tried making air this time. Rubbing his hands together with the water he made between them, Bob did his best to try washing away the markings on his hands. Cold, nearly clean and clear, Bob went to making another glyph. Just like the last one but maybe a little neater if he could do that. Starting of from the top, Bob with his inked finger went along the same places it did the first time. At the sides he did his best to cut it cleaner so it would look more circly and "that just has to be a better looking glyph."

It was only lacking something and adding to the glyph Bob wrote around the circle air air air air right above the focus line now that his palm had enough space. With the water being fairly easy the air should be better especially with the glyph being as nice as it was in inviting the element. Just what sort of a res would not want to be on that? Not res from Bob that was for sure because this time, the res came up faster. Perhaps Bob was more confident or the path to his palm was already cleared up and prepared because there was a little less waiting and staring stupidly at his hand until he felt the djed moving from his arm and settling under his skin. A little while after that he saw it again. The liquid res resting on his hand just waiting to turn into air.

"Hmmmmm..." with air being all around him maybe he should try attracting it? No "that won't work..." since Bob would not be able to tell the difference. Now being the first time maybe he should try transmuting it first. He would feel something when the res changed just like the water or maybe when it all turns into air he won't see anything anymore. "Sounds like a plan" he said trying to hype himself up. Confident that something has to happen at least Bob started to command the res to transmute. The sheer intensity of his stare. If the res really was ice it would have melted right then but all it was is Bob focusing all his attention to the res. Only the results mattered.

And the results was a fail. Because Bob was drawing on his first attempt at reimancy ever and his first attempt of the day to guide him he felt the cold liquid solution on his hands again. No changes except the temperature. No res going poof to tell him it turned into air. Just...water again. This time though he remembered to leave some res behind so he can control whatever came up and even if there was no air he was not going to stop him. "Why couldn't it be air...or even ice right away..." since the cold feeling touching his skin really made him feel that he did it.

But water was what it is and Bob commanded the res at the center to move around his palm. Concentrating on keeping all the liquid together so it would not spill out he watched along the lines and word that the res it had to follow, sparing some thought into taking a breath each time the res was on a line which was easier than the bends. Round and round until the line and words faded off before he gave in to the headache he had from following the motions like an idiot. Maybe he should have just washed his hands like a normal person as normal as reimancy water could be.

Clapping away what was left of the water, Bob thought to himself how easy it would be if the reimancy could control the ink to create the perfect circle but it could not so he had to contend with his finger. This better be the last time since he would not like to put up with another failure. Dipping the finger into the ink, Bob traced another circle round his palm. As blacky and dirty his hand now was he could still tell the difference between the glyph he was making and the old ones. Still he took care to avoid the old ones and with the distance they had between them he was still able to squeeze in the lines he was making without being blocked. "Still looks like a circle..." maybe? It would have to do even if it was a going a little into the middle at one point.

Anddddd..."petch!" If he made the barrier it would go over the first one but was there a choice? Even if it did not help with the reimancy much the barriers in common helped him to remember what exactly he was aiming for and not lose sight of it. Even if it fails. But he will get it this time. Writing air air air air more times when he squeezed the words together should make the glyph even more stronger! Yes, now he was prepared. "This time...this time..." he told himself when he worked the djed from himself towards his hand before turning it into the res resting on his palm. "This time..." it has to turn into air!

Was he really doing it? He was quite unsure himself as he looked at the barriers to remind him of what he wanted. It looked like aiaiaiai at some point but Bob will not be distracted or confused. He was going to make air! It would help if air was visible but sadly it was not so he shut his eyes when he realized that it would not help much. Air is empty, nothing just like the blackness and that was what he was going for. It did not even make a sound like his surroundings unless it moved fast enough like wind... Wind? Suddenly a quick breeze hit him in the face and Bob concentration broke with the exclaimation "what the petch! Why did..." the res all...disappear... "Hah!" he did it!

He had to make sure that he really did it and Bob who learned from the first time and kept some res to control tried to regain control over the res. To tell it to come and hit his face one more time but then his concentration was already broken earlier. His projectile, his makeshift wind was gone and he was going to have to make "another one?" Should he? He was already successful. Maybe he should just take a break and resume some other time. However Bob was no quitter! He should do it at least one more time before he forgets how to do it altogether.

"Fine!" One last time then. And with his hand all smudged up he will not be able to use it again. Still fine since if he was going to end it he was going to end it big! Bob rolled up his sleeve. The new spot he was going to place his glyph. Stretching it out he put a dot slightly below the joint. Assuming that his res was used the way the thought it was, the would should be more the closer he was to his body and he was only going to use a bit of the res there to make sure that he can really make his air.

Being so long in the cold outdoors, Bob actually felt uncomfortable this time when he drew the line along the sides of his skin but that should be bearable for the moment and...an oval was something like a circle right? Bah! The glyph was his and it should not be so picky about how he drew the circle as long as it was right. At least there was still space for him to make the barr- oh bother! Stupid sleeve. Bob rolled it up to start writing a...i... before it came down and then he had to roll it up again to finish up with ...r before it came down again. How hard did it have to be for him to successfully write air for the glyph, thats it! What Bob wanted this time was not only air, he also wanted to succeed.

Adding to what he originally intended, Bob put a success behind the air and continued the rest with air success air success until he had to roll up his sleeve one last time to put in the finishing touch. Now he was done, he will succeed with his air. He had to produce his res first though and using his arm for it seemed a little weird. He was not used to it too much. Fortunately the glyph was helping him. He could feel the djed redirecting itself from some other spot that Bob did not want it to be and accumulating at his arm before it came over his skin. A shiny liquid that glowed in the sun that was not sweat. It had to be perfect. Thinking hard that it only needed to stay on his arm, Bob rubbed it a little with his hand to spread it out.

And now it was the moment of truth. Bob breathed in and out, producing his own air that he could feel in hopes that the same will come from his skin. Feeling it was a lot better than thinking about it somehow and Bob shut his eyes and brought his arm in front of his mouth taking deep breaths as the air kept pushing on his skin. Wait, he was supposed to watch it now so he would be sure that it was not a fluke. Taking a few more breaths until he got into rhythm he opened his eyes trying to keep it up as he thought about the air each time he drew breath then slowly but surely the res reduced and he felt air blowing at his ears before it went against his breath and pushed his nose.

"it cough works!" Bob said quite pleased trying to take control of the air again and directing it all around him hitting his sensitive parts, eyes-nose-ears in succession over and over like an imaginary snake he was moving in the air. He could not see it but the picture in his mind helped him a lot. It coiled and curled around until Bob got his headache before the snake swallowed itself and disappeared just as the wind that was blowing around him. It was done, he was done and...and...eh, "time to rest." Whatever was left can be done tomorrow.
