A half-collapsed city of alabaster and gold fiercely governed by Eypharians. Even partially ruined, it is the crown of the desert and a worthy testament to old glories and rising powers.

“Mm, yes. I am. Your proxy…” He stood there, watching her with a cautious eye. The lingering air of want was still about him. He desired.
The difference, Clement learned, between an animal and a creature was that the creature was capable of plotting and plans. The animal was simply instinct. It was nothing but the urge for survival and the need to eat, to sleep, to screw… But the creature had urges beyond that driven by emotion. He was a creature. Cyrah, despite herself, was a creature. They were not animals, though many times they pretended to be. The feeling that was burning in the back of his throat told him to lash out, to force himself upon her whether she would leave or not. His mind, the part that made him a creature, told him to wait. But wait for what?
Creatures desired more than simple survival of their own and their species.
He was not an animal. He just looked like a cornered one standing by the door watching her.
“Don’t worry, love. I’m sure one of these days that fact will get me killed.”
With that he turned again towards the door. He’d leave this time unless she stopped him. |

She locked the door after he was gone.
And then wilted, a half-lean at first, against the edge of the bed. Gradually, she just crawled onto the mattress and buried her face against one of the pillows, trying not to just rip it to tiny feathery pieces for all her anger, and agony at his leaving.
It would fade, though. She told herself it would fade. The longer he stayed away this time, the more surely it would fade.
Eventually, she lifted her head and fetched the ledger off the floor, opening it. No matter what else went wrong, her ledgers were always right. And there was always more work to be done.
THE END! |

Additional notes: What a curious change in demeanor for Clement. I hope we get to see why he so suddenly changed from the brutal abusive creature he was into such a controlled and composed man. Also, it was very fun to watch how Cyrah reacted to such a sudden and unexpected shift in Clement's demeanor. I'm curious where this will lead. Also, what a great take on the Kelvic-human interaction via bonding. As ever, let me know if there is anything you guys need me to do in order to facilitate your next and future scenes. I also applaud you Meg for introducing this interestingly religious side to Clement, and I am curious where it comes from and where it will lead. |
