The 5th of summer 512AV

The morning was still dark and cool when Tajin woke from his rest a few bells before sunrise and prepared to go to the temple. He quickly slipped on his robe, the stone walls and floor of his room being cold to the touch at this hour. He fumbled with his sandals as the cloud of sleep slowly drifted from his mind, the auras of the room becoming more clear as he reached out to grab the prayer beads that were always close at hand. The relaxing feeling that came from just holding such a familiar piece set him at ease and began to prepare him for worship. He anticipated joyfully the feeling of emptiness followed by a burning passionate joy as his being was filled with worshipful peace. There was nothing that satisfied in the way that meditation and prayer could, and Tajin was never satisfied with the amount of time he was able to spend in fervent devotion.

When his basic preparations were finished Tajin set out to walk the fairly short distance to the temple, letting his mind expand and passively noticing the auras around him rather than specifically focusing on any one thing so as to keep himself from getting tired. As he walked the emptiness of the streets reminded him of the emptiness and solitude that meditation brought just before true worship was attained. The normally bustling streets were empty except for the posted guards and the random early riser, and the skies shone brightly, constellations burning brightly and gloriously. The colors of their auras were fascinating and rich. Telling those beneath of the mighty deeds of the past and of the gods that set them there. The stone walkways of the fortress were oddly peaceful in the hours before the sun rose, as if the very world stopped and remained still.

It was in this state of mind that Tajin stood before the temple. As he walked inside, the feeling of an inherently religious place filled him, this ground felt holy. Not because something great had happened here, but rather that so many simple daily prayers of ordinary people had been offered in this place. The greatness came from the simplicity of their devotion.

Tajin walked softly over to a corner of the great hall of the temple, and knelt upon his knees. He remained in this position in silence, even shutting the auras around him out of his mind as he attempted to clear his thoughts. After a short time he began to utter short phrases of praise, extolling the excellencies of Yahal. His ever living faithfulness to care for and watch over his servants, his unbending devotion to purity of spirit, the excellencies and never ending virtues. These brief and concise statements of praise served two purposes for Tajin. They were simple and repetitive which aided him in entering a religious trance, he would repeat the same seven statements over and over, giving them a chant like quality. Secondly they were a sort of daily personal indoctrination, that kept his mind, heart, and soul constantly devoted to the principles and person of Yahal. As he muttered these praises Tajin began to rock back and forth on his knees, adding motion to his chant and letting his mind release it's grasp on the here and now. Allowing his conscious mind to embrace the supremacy of ultimate truth, rather than permitting it to dwell in the petty revelations of day to day life.

As he chanted Tajin raised his hands into the air and began to sing what he had previously been merely muttering. This song was low and convicting, it's harmony resonated with peace and devotion. But it was merely another step into true worship, when Tajin would enter a meditative trance. After what neared a full bell of this state of praise, Tajin ceased his song and pushed all excess thought out of his mind. Leaving only the idea of purity, the absence of corruption. The essence of Yahal.

As Tajin allowed his mind to rest in a meditative trance, his being was overcome by a deep feeling of warmth and protection. It was this feeling of religious ecstasy that drugged his mind and forced him to return and praise daily. It was a beautiful glorious experience to be entranced and enamored with the concept of the lord of purity, and it was the sensation that drove Tajin to the depths of faithful service that he undertook daily. These sessions of meditation always seemed to alleviate any stress from his psyche and to soothe his mind from the exertions of having his only method of sight being auristic magic. They helped to keep his soul pure of any distractions, to focus him upon his supreme purpose in life, to honor Yahal.

But one can only remain in ecstasy for for so long, and Tajin came back up to the waking world after about a half bell. Coming out of his meditation was like taking a breath of air after holdings ones breath underwater for a few chimes. His mind released suddenly and came up gasping for breath, a release from emptiness. After calming himself and allowing his mind to open and begin to passively notice the auras around him, Tajin stood and uttered a final prayer.

“O god, great is your faithfulness to me. You watch over your children like a shepherd to his sheep. Guard me from vile thoughts, and direct my paths to honor your ways. I praise in the morning and in the evening, let my heart be purified to you.”

Storyteller Notes

Secret :
Pretty good meditation/prayer thread. Magic is one of those things you never want to feel too bashful in describing, especially as you start to get higher in skill levels. You’ll want to push the boundaries of what you can detect you’re your Auristics, or how much you can concentrate on at once, rather than just passively utilizing it. That’s it from me!
