You Picked the Wrong House

Timestamp: Spring 23rd, 510 AV

The sun had long since disappeared behind the distant horizon, casting a shadow over the majestic city of Ravok. It was a full moon and thus the sky still maintained some semblance of light, however dull it might be. The streets of Ravok were almost barren at this hour. The only beings that would be out at this hour either were things that knew how to remain unseen.

While Ravok slumbered, Rycust still found himself awake. He sat quietly in the main common area, some distance from the door. Next to him was a glass filled with some kind of red liquid. The only light came from a pair of candles that sat in front of Rycust. Wersef had retired hours ago, and Rycust was trying to keep his activities to himself.

The light cast a strange shadow over the scene. Rycust was at the center, kneeling with his head straight forward, dressed in his finest black linens. On his right lay the red liquid and his dagger. His sword lay on his left. The two candled were spaced perfectly apart from each side, right in front of Rycust. The set up gave the common area a very ominous mood.

Rycust bowed his head just slightly, in reverence for the God that he would address. "Lord Defiler," He said in a whisper that only he would hear. "I feel the power growing. I can feel the change beginning. The world is preparing itself. Oh Father of Lies, I can feel the energies building. Something is about to happen." Rycust let a sly smile form on his face; He had been feeling a strange feeling the entire day, perhaps the entire week. Hell, he new at the beginning of the season that change was coming, but this was somehow different. "I pledge now that I will use it for the power of Chaos."

He looked down to his liquid, but then turned back after a moment's consideration. He let a silence fall over the household at he sat in quiet contemplation. It was an exercise he liked to use often. He cleared his mind of all distractions and let himself drift into a semi-conscious state of existence.

[Chez Morcio] You Picked the Wrong House [Dragan]

Being one with the shadows was never hard for one like Dragan. He moved silently through the dead night while letting his gaze wander off to the distant corners of atractive stores. It did not matter to him, an hour, two, even three....as long as he can perfrom his job before the sunrise. After all this was not just any other day, this was the day that he steals from Ebonstryfe and once and for all denies the overpowering preassure of the cultists, or at least it seemed so grandiose in his ambitious mind.

After an hour of dodging gurad patrols and avoiding any signs of life he arrived to the street he was looking for...after all it was not often for him to steal from people with this influence. He calmly walked the street knowing there will not be any patrols here, after all, these bastards never question their might, and that is their weakest spot.He felt all so powerfull and he felt the adrenaline rushing to his head as he slowly walked the street coming closer and closer to the mark.

At the same moment he arrived in front of a house that looked like a palace to ordinary people of his stature. As his hand slowly gripped around the door handle he stopped like something had him cut in half and turned around in the direction of the temple whispering slowly: "I hope you are watching, for tonight, i challenge you...and all your freaks" He smiled softly as he buttoned up his cloak and put a black hood on his head...therefore completing his burglar outfit. After all they did not call him the reaper for nothing.

He than turned his head back towards the door and slowly used a single fireball who he previously made as small as possible to melt the lock. The door squeeked slightly as he was now looking into a open and empt....."wait there is some light here" he thought to himself while finally gazing his eyes upon the young cultist who was bathing in the light of two candles that were in his vicinity. He waited for the cultist to turn around, he waited with a smile upon his face.

Rycust heard the door squeak slightly as it opened. In the pure silence that was there previously, it was as loud as a thunderclap. Accompanying it was the unmistakable sound of footsteps and breathing. He smiled. He though he heard something outside. A touch of fear licked the edge of his consciousness, his adrenaline started pumping. An excitement rose up in him.

He moved slowly and deliberately, listening for any change in the environment, particularly for the footsteps of the intruder and any who accompanied him. His heightened senses weren't quite due to a sense of fear, but more of a blood lust. He wanted the kill. For himself and for Rhysol. The open door had been a free license to take care of whatever stepped through and he wasn't going to rush it.

Rycust picked up the glassware with the red liquid and poured it over the edge of his bare sword and dagger. Then Rycust fit the dagger into his belt sheath and turned his head towards the intruder, smiling as he saw the outfit he had worn, presumably to intimidate. He chuckled to himself, unaffected.

The light, now behind Rycust's face, left him to be only a silhouette to the intruder; A faceless being of pure shadow. Rycust on the other hand, could see the intruder just fine.

He smiled, positioning himself into a crouch, "This will be your only chance." Rycust paused for a moment. "I will offer you 15 seconds to get as far away as you can." He knew fear was a powerful weapon, and planned to use it to it's fullest extend.

He counted the seconds in his head slowly as he was slowly using flux to reinforce his right hand and forming a palm sized fireball in his left. "You are a foolish man to question the powers of the arcane...heretic scum". He growled at him a bit while waiting for the 13th second. And so it came...a quick thunder like movement and he went for the traitors left forearm with fire and his right thie with the flux reinfoced hand prepearing to tear it open

Rycust smiled as the man decided to ignore his generous offer. The Res that pooled in his left hand was practically a beacon that said 'Hi, I'm about to throw fire at you." As he saw the ball of Res, he realize that there would be a fight. No normal burglar would be a proficient Reimancer. This might turn out to be interesting.

Rycust picked up his sword, keeping his eyes continuously on the intruder. The intruder muttered "You are a foolish man to question the powers of the arcane...heretic scum." Then there was an explosion of action. A fireball flew from the attacker's hand, as he rushed at Rycust.

The servant of Rhysol sprang from his crouch to the intruders right, and to a defensive stance. It was barely a second before the attacker was next to Rycust, throwing a punch at his left thigh. An odd attack to say the least. Rycust rotated his body to the left and brought his shortsword down in a strike aimed at the attacker's shoulder.

Smiles realising this will be a first true challenge for him and his majestic power. He blows the sword away with his gaze using basic wind spells and without any major strain continues his path towards the traitor still smiling playfully. As the traitor is unarmed he points his strikes at the neck and again the right thie this time making it much faster and making sure that there is enough magic power in his feet to make the intruder not able to dodge both blows. As they moved as close as an inch he whispered quickly: " Forgive me for taking this life teacher".

Rycust was almost surprised when his sword was batted away by a gust of wind. It was a very creative use of Reimancy for sure, Rycust would have to note that. He used the gust of air to his advantage.

As Dragan moved to attack both his neck and his thigh with simultaneous punches, Rycust's martial arts training took over. Instinct and honed skill both came into play as he pivoted his left foot, while ducking and shifting his body weight back onto his right foot, which was now back behind his left. His opponent's naivety in hand to hand combat was evident in the inaccuracy of his strikes. Even so, the upper strike grazed Rycust's cheek, though the backwards motion and Rycust's martial skill at rolling with a punch lessened the blow considerably.

As he moved back, while the intruder half-connected with his cheek, Rycust threw a left hook at the man head, which was angled down. He then rocked back, bringing back momentum for an abdominal slash with his shortsword.

Starts to realise his weakness in close range combat and dodges the slash while letting his opponent punch him so he could gain some distance between them. He started breathing quickly, for the strain was about reach it`s peak. He growled slowly in agony for a few moments as he realized this is a battle that can not be won on enemy territory and he jumped out through the still open door quickly while grabbing the nearby sash of gold and running away and yelling to his adversary : " I may have underestimated you this time...but you will not be so lucky next time, oh and look on the bright side, at least i got something out of this" he smiled quickly as he showed a small bag of gold to the traitor. "Thank you for your donation, and may we meet again if you can catch me that is". He than ran into one of the dark alleys surrounding the house as he was sure the herretic will follow him.
