Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.

A day of work

Fall, 1, 512 AV

It had been almost a full year since Rein started a major project in the city. Well major in his own green eyes. He had started work at Matilda's Jewels. A small place that called itself a jewelry shop but the owner had no skill in making just the art of buying and selling. At that cost it had a bunch of crap that she had no idea on the value. While that meant tourist came and left it also meant that the people in the city knew not to come. It was Reins job to get the shop in some type of working order.

It had been a long year to say the least.

The owner, Matilda, did not like the idea at first of him working for her. She had no forge or the right area for him to make his craft but Alvadas had another say in the matter since overnight the shop had been shaped differently with a new door along the back of the shop. Past that door was a room just for Rein it would seem with the right tools for his job. Afterwards she did not mind him working other than the fact that he told her he would scrap a lot of junk in the shop, broken chains and the like to turn them into something better.

They had a lot of fights.

She won often.

Thankfully since she knew little to nothing of crafting the items he was able to find peace in his small forge in the backroom. A room she did not enter often due to she enjoyed the front. She did have that he found, she could sell. Either by forcing the person to buy in a sense or just with her wits she could sell and make a profit.

Today Rein was working on fixing simple gold rings. Thankfully his job was going to be rather easy since he had found a good number of broken ones in the shop; yet fixing them would be rather easy since he would reheat the rings one at a time then mold them into working order before letting them cool.

He held one ring onto a vice while placing it in the heat. He did not have to wait long while the fire heated the metal for him to mold as he kept his green eyes along the object. He waited until the ring looked like a putty, moldable and movable before he took it out.

This was where the real work took place. He had to move fast and carefully since he could mold the ring now but he could not wait long for the metal would cool than he would have to reheat it which reheating more times could damage the ring.

Using his tools he quickly worked to fix the crack in the bottom part of the ring by moving the substance of the gold over to cover and fill in the crack. While it would weaken the ring down the road it was a quick fix for now.

He moved the metal along the ring from the sides, then he smoothed it more out with files before placing the ring down along a holder. It would take a few Bells for it to cool all the way and he could not touch it until then. It would both hurt him and ruin the ring.

One ring down and four more to go. A lot of them just had cracks along the bottoms and sides. One was missing a gem on top but still rather easy fixes. By tomorrow he would have them in the shop for sale.

Really he could have them done for the afternoon but he wanted to work on getting that shop cleaned up and in order. Everything was just a mess in his eyes as he took another ring into the vice and placed it in the forge.

The shop just was messy and out of order. Nothing could be found but that was a mix of the size and just junk was everywhere. When he heard that she kept broken items as prizes he thought she was kidding but one look into the store told him otherwise. It was why he was working on fixing the rings to sell but maybe she just had to throw things out. That would never happen he thought as he took the second ring out of the forge.

This ring was just a faint hint of a crack along the left side. He used his tools to shift the gold from the sides but he knew in the end this would damage it more once he started working. It would had seemed this ring was fixed beforehand while back ago. He placed it in a clay bowl then placed that bowl into the forge. He would just melt it all and use it to craft a new ring all together.

The ring size was a 7, he would have to go down to size as he moved about the little workshop finding his ring sizer casts. They were out of a hard metal, neatly in a row of sizes. A 6 was the lowest it went, then it moved up in the sizes.

The old ring turned into a pile of gop soon enough as he poured it in the cast. It would take longer but this way he knew the puddle of metal would sit and cool into the new ring size. It would not be the same as pure new gold but in the end it would still be more than fine. A few years at least until anything broke on it or signs of damage would be seen if the person was careful.

It would be tomorrow before he could take it out of the cast but it would be fine as he moved to the third ring. The third ring was missing a gem on top of it. He would reheat the metal like the others, heat the ring; place the gem onto the ring itself letting the gold wrap around it then to let it cool.

The gem itself, was already cut and was called blood agate. He could not recall the meaning but it looked pretty and would sell. He knew meaning of stones did not matter all that much. As long as someone found it to be pretty they would buy it even if it meant death. The ring was heated just right as he pulled it out and placed the the gem on top of it. Using his tools to mold the gold around it to hold it in place before sitting it down to cool and set.

The fourth ring was just bent slightly at the bottom. The heat was given as Rein used his tools to carefully mold it back into shape. Rings bending was a much faster fix than cracks and the payment showed since it was a cheaper fix. If a buyer came to him to fix this it would just cost them a gold or two depending on how fast they wanted it. Really that was a steal since a gold ring was around 30 gold miza to make. A lot of fixes could cost half that and that was without any gemstones inside the ring. With them added the price could easily reach above 100.

The last ring he placed in the clay bowl with a bit of other gold and placed it in the forge. The ring was a size 6, he was going to make a new one with a size 8. For that he had to have more gold to cast it but it was the same as downgrading it. No gems would go in it for a quicker sale.

The shop did okay but he was trying his best to get more sales out of it. Really he should have opened his own shop but he had to learn more. Had to get his name out more as he poured the melted gold into the new cast. He was slowly getting his name out in the city but one day at a time.

Once the ring was in the cast he placed it with the others. By tomorrow they would go for sale. Broken they would have just been a few gold at most. Now they were worth about 30 gold each, the one with the gemstone was about 50 gold. All in all a good profit once he could sell them or rather once she could sell them.

With that he left the room and took a long needed break from the heat. He would return in a few bells and the owner would just deal. Besides he was out of her hair and she was out of his for the time being.

Less fights that way.
