| Fall 23 Sarel double checked that the disused tunnel was indeed empty before he set down his backpack, the small bucket of water he had a dek fetch for him, swiped the dust of a part of the rocky floor and began rummaging in his backpack, taking out a bunch of thin wooden sticks, some dried plant parts he would use as kindling and carefully began arranging them into such a shape that if one lighted the kindling the fire would be able to easily grown and consume the heavier wood. After some chimse of diligent and carefull work so the fire would easily spread through the little construction he made he sat down on his knees next to it, held his hand up and began to concentrate. Slowly extruding minute amounts of a gaseous res above his palm. A small smile tugged at his lips as he willed the ress to move from his hands. The res sluggishly moved towards the dried plants lying in the middle of the heap. Just like he commanded it. He let the res float into the many gabs in between the gaps of the kindling, he didn't want to waste any res, so he wanted that when he lighted the kindle no ress was just floating somewhere it couldn't reach anything. After a chime of careful guiding he finally lighted his res up, and the sight that followed warmed his heart. The flames quickly lighted up the kindle and began to burn steadily, slowly lighting up the thicker branches and within a few chimes the small and fragile flame had consumed parts of the branches to grown into a small but mighty fire. He watched the fire for a few more moments with a stupidly happy grin on his face before he went back to business. He had the fire now so he could begin with practicing, the blacksmith stood up and held his hand, palm down, a foot or two above the fire, relishing the heat the small fire was radiating. He then began to concentrate and slowly began to extrude his ress from his palm and let it slowly and clumsily glide towards the flame, not stopping until the small cloud of res was completely surrounded by the flames and was only a few inches above the burning wood itself. Then he willed the ress to pull the flames towards it and slowly began lifting the ball out of the fire. He couldn't help the smile and the giddy feeling in the pit of his stomach as he saw the hungry flames that clung to his little orb of res rise out of the flame he raised the ball up till it was about at the same height as his torse before he pulled his gaze of the beautiful flame that was burning on his res and let his gaze wander towards the empty wall on the other side of the mostly deserted tunnel wall. He solidified his mental grasp on the ball of res as good as he could and let it shot forwards a few feet, when it neared the end of what he knew was his reach he could keep control over his ress he stopped the pull of the ress on the eliments and stopped the ball of ress before it would fly out of it, he had to take a few quick steps forwards to make sure the balld idn't fly out of his mental grasp and he would waste the ress. But he made it, more or less, a few tufts of ress did escape his grasp and where wasted anyway. And the flames he had launched traveled a few more foot and hit against the wall, leaving a few faint scorchmarks on the part it had hit and what used to be a kind of moss had slightly caught fire and was smoldering, letting off an arid stench |
