Out of the Wilds

"My name is Alyvina," she said, slowly making her way around the room, gently touching different objects in front of her. As she neared the fire, she stopped and put her hands out to warm them.

"Always a mystery," she mumbled to herself, then more loudly, "The wilds are near unbearable during the colder seasons. I decided to take refuge in the city." She curled up on the floor, for once in a long time she felt safe. The room was small but cozy, and these strangers seemed like they wanted to take care of her. She sighed and relaxed, some of the tension leaving her body.
"Sometimes it is not the blind who cannot see."

Out of the Wilds

Talorin worked diligently over the stew trying to make sure everything comes out perfectly. While it is cooking he continues the conversation.

"So what is is like outside the city limits? I've never been further than the fields, but someday soon will be leaving to search for my brother."

He stirs the food gently, while keeping a close watch and ear on his guests.

Out of the Wilds

Postby Alyvina Theldin on November 18th, 2012, 7:07 pm

"The wilds are unforgiving," Alyvina said, "dangerous and hostile. Living without sight is hard, for not all things make noise. Then again, not all things can be seen. It tests all of your senses, and sometimes it tests your life. Their is a system of weakness and strength. If you cannot compensate your weaknesses, you die."

She paused, remembering all of her struggles and the brushes with death she had. Then her mind turned to what the wilds really were to her.

"The wilds are harsh," she continued, "but it makes you stronger and pushes you to be more than what you thought you could be. It is beautiful and mysteries, full of strange things that I could never possibly fathom. It is home to me, I've lived there most of my life. I am a part of it, and I'll most likely return when spring arrives. Or if I run out of money and can no longer live here. Which ever comes first."

Out of the Wilds

Postby Yohan on November 19th, 2012, 3:37 am

Yohan warmed by the fire, sitting next to the blind girl as she spoke. Listening to her describe the wilds, and then her true feelings for it, he couldn't help but compare her life with his own.

"To live alone in the wilderness..Though a great challenge, it would not be the life I would chose. I seek companionship. Someone who understands what I am and accepts me for it. I could not bear to live a life of solitude by choice, though mostly, I am forced to." He gazed into the fire as he spoke. His deep voice resonating with the loneliness he faced from night to night.

Out of the Wilds

Alyvina's voice was distant when she spoke again, "I am not one to like solitude either, but the wilds are my home. I cannot be without it for a long time or else I get restless. It is a harsh place and no one ventures where I do."

She thought of her mother, how the wilds claimed her life. She didn't know if she could bare losing someone again. It was a lonely life, except for the occasional traveler or merchant. Then she thought of these gentlemen who gave her company tonight. She then felt a deep connection with them. All have struggled the battles of living alone and caring for themselves. Suddenly, she did not feel alone.

(OOC: As you may or may not know, my character is having a hard time being approved of and I'm constantly having to make changes about her past. I'm trying really hard to get it all cleared up. I'm going to try to keep her main concepts and history the same, but I might have to change her items and skills to accommodate her story. I'll finish this thread with what she's been having. I hope this doesn't affect our future adventures. I'm having a lot of fun here :) )

Out of the Wilds

Postby Talorin Ki on November 19th, 2012, 9:59 pm

Talorin listened intently to what the other two were saying about the wilds. Leaving in search of his brother has always weighed heavily on his mind, but his fear of the unknown kept him close to the city.

"Here you go Aly," Talorin handed her a bowl and spoon, "I hope you enjoy. It is one of my specialties" he said beaming.

Talorin turned and ladled another bowl out of the small pot and handed it to Yohan. The man didn't seem like the stew type, but Talorin would never be rude and not offer him a share. Afterwards, Talorin sat down with the pot and began eating directly.

"Sorry, I only have 2 bowls." he grinned.

Out of the Wilds

Postby Alyvina Theldin on November 20th, 2012, 6:00 am

Alyvina carefully took the stew and was greatful to have a hot meal. As she ate it, she tried to remember the last time she ate something other than berries, nuts and herbs. Every once in a while she was able to get a small animal, but she tried not to catch anything because she never had much luck with fire. Then their were the occasional merchant or traveler that would share a meal with her.

She carefully spooned it into her mouth after gently blowing on it. When she swallowed, she could feel the pit in her stomach from constantly having little to eat. It was better than anything she had in months, maybe over a year, and made quick work of it. When she was done, her stomach felt swollen and she sighed contentedly.

Yohan sniffed the stew slowly. It smelled delicious but he still wasn't quite sure what to make of it. He hadn't eaten a cooked meal since he left Mura. And even then he was used to the Konti style of cooking. He sniffed at it again, taking a glance at Alyvina. Well she seems to be enjoying it well enough.

"What is in this Talorin?" He asked curiously, looking his way. "I've never smelt food so..odd."

"Mostly vegetables, a little venison, and some seasonings."

Talorin looked at Yohan in hopes that he would at least not spit it out. Alyvina seemed content and satisfied with the warm meal.

"Aly, why don't you take the bunk. I'm more than willing to curl up on the floor. So um...."

Talorin looked like he wanted to ask or say something, but was very nervous to spit it out. After stuttering a couple times, he swallowed his words and turned to look in the fire. A small tear could be seen in his eye.
