Character Concept
Ill-tempered, aggressive, and competitive are three words that could be used to describe Nader. Nander has a very small tolerance level, getting him into trouble on a regular basis. It doesn't help that Nander drinks either. The alcohol only helps to anger Nander.
Being one who is easily angered, it's only natural that Nander is quite aggressive. This part of him usually comes out in battle, though. He can't help it. With every hit his opponent gets on him, Nander gets weaker & subsequently angrier. Even if he's simply sparring, he'll be quite ferocious. It comes with being self-taught.
Nander's competitive side comes out whenever he's around others. Whether it's drinking, fighting, or even simply waking up, everything's a competition to Nander. He can't help it. It's just how he was raised. So if someone were to start a race in the middle of town, Nander would join in without even asking. It's for this reason that Nander can also be seen as a bit of a show-off.
Attentive, Intelligent, and Cunning are some of Nander's better qualities. Being someone who gets competitive at everything, it's only natural for Nander to also be quite attentive. He can't compete if he doesn't follow the actual rules of the competition. Not only that, but in Nander's eyes, attentiveness is just another competition. Who can learn the most, who can pay attention the best, who can remember what they learned, etc. are all different criteria of the attentiveness competition.
Attentiveness can of course lead to intelligence. With all he's learned, Nander of course is quite knowledgeable. Unfortunately, it's this intelligence coupled with his show-offy attitude that sometimes leads Nander to play the "know-it-all." He may not be the smartest guy around, but he is above average for his age. It's thanks to this intelligence that Nander is also quite cunning & calculating in battle.
It should be noted that Nander has a strange fascination for the abnormal. This includes magic, the different races, gnosis, ect. Despite coming off as an angry know-it-all, Nander's personality seems to change when he's investigating the abnormal. He becomes quite and extremely tolerant, though in truth he really just blocks out the rest of the world. When he's done, it's back to drinking and beating up strangers.
In terms of morality, Nander thinks of himself as a neutral party. He doesn't like to "play the hero", but he does know how and will if he feels like it. More times than not he has to be bribed, especially when hostages are involved. If they're anything Nander hates in the world it's hostages. In his opinion, damsels in distress are weak. If they're weak they'll just get kidnapped again even after he saved them.
Nander can also "play the villain" if he wants to, or is paid to do so. However, this usually means theft, since even Nander has standards. He isn't some crazy assassin who'd kill for cash. In this way, Nander can be seen as lawful neutral. He prefers to play the hero, but he still doesn't like to do so. Moving on, while Nander does have a few fears and weaknesses, including motion sickness, acrophobia, and certain women.
It's strange, but Nander can't seem to ride any vehicle or animal without getting sick. Depending on the ride, the motion sickness can get so bad that Nander may vomit multiple times. This is usually while Nander's traveling over rocky terrain. Otherwise he simply becomes completely still as he holds on for dear life. Though he's tried many times, he can't get over his motion sickness.
For some reason, Nander always freezes up when he's high up. He could be looking over a balcony or simply looking down from a tree. Either way, he simply freezes up. Nander's acrophobia is almost as bad as his motion sickness, except when he's frozen he immediately forgets about every nearby. It's as if he's lost in a trance.
Another strange fear, and perhaps the strangest of all, is Nander's fear of the female body. Not to say that Nander is actually afraid of women, since he'd fight one without hesitation. However, it seems that Nander becomes embarrassed whenever he sees women in revealing clothing. This of course makes him look quite childish, since he freaks out over only a little skin. However, like motion sickness, Nander can't seem to get over this fear. Maybe it's because Nander has a more uptight personality deep inside him or perhaps he's just weird. Not even Nander knows the truth.
Nander's view of religion is neutral like himself. Sure he believes the gods exist and protect, but that doesn't mean he openly worships them. Since he's always on the move and learns about so many different gods, how could he possibly choose one out of them all. Likewise, he simply acknowledges them as residents of Mizahar...no more. |
