This forum is an OOC forum for PCS and Organizations to work out plans in hardcopy. Each PC or Organization gets a single thread where their players can help work out plans for their PC. Quests, mini-sagas, and Trips can all be organized here as well working out timelines and points of travel and things PCs need to do along the way. Each PC however gets only one Plotnote for their individual PC. Groups get one as well. There is no limit on individuals posting saga or trip plotnote threads. Please denote [PC Plotnotes] or [Group Plotnotes] or [Quest/Trip/Saga Plotnotes] when titling your threads.

[PC Plotnotes] Bear's Plotnotes

Kalinor
For Bear, I'd like to have her visit many places that most wouldn't either because of fear or safety, or both. I've decided to start in Kalinor. Even though the reason was originally because of the knowledge of childbirth there, I realized that as a Zith, her unanswered questions wouldn't be the sole reason she'd travel somewhere. She would need shelter, food, and wouldn't like to stay in a city because 1) she isn't used to being in a largely populated area, and 2) she travels, hunts, and sleeps, usually in that order, and usually with nothing in-between. She also most likely wouldn't have ever heard of Kalinor, because she always stayed in her two-person colony near Xy.

Since the Symenestra are both ghostly and skeletal in appearance, and Bear has never heard of Kalinor, she takes their appearance as an indication that they somehow have defied death and aging. This piques her interest and gives her a reason to stick around. I want her to have a silent sort of respect towards the Symenestra, but still have the brashness to ask whatever questions she has. I would like for her belief that they are death-defying to last for a while, perhaps until she learns of the deaths that occur through childbirth.

I want Bear to learn about some of the things she possibly did wrong, and see a midwife while in Kalinor. Although, I want it clear that there is something wrong with her that does make it extremely difficult to have a healthy child. More than likely, both her and the child would die if she attempted to give birth again.

Her thoughts on the Symenestra birthing process wouldn't be negative, since live, healthy children are born. Bear would see it as interesting that in order for one to be given life, another has to die. Possibly, she may develop the theory that the reason why they appear bone-white and void of color is because it's a mark that they took life to gain their own life.

Ultimately I want her thoughts on Symenestra and Kalinor to be:
They are wise, perhaps even 'all-knowing'
They are nocturnal and cave-dwellers, alike her own kind
They're ghost-like appearance is a mark of the death they caused to be born
This mark is something to be respected, not resented
The Symenestra know much about life and death

Ultimately, while in Kalinor I want her to:
*Treat the Symenestra as higher beings
*Gain answers to her questions about the Symenestra and Kalinor
*Visit a midwife or doctor, learn about pregnancy and childbirth
Learn of local creatures to hunt and avoid
    Visit the local temple
    *Talk with a surrogate
    *Learn about surrogate hunts

Skills
I would like Bear to gain knowledge in:
Hunting (tracking and trapping) - ongoing, continuous effort
Carving (bone) - continuous, out of respect for her food (prey)
Grave keeping- Im not sure if this is the right term but burying the dead and watching over the graveyard
Fletching and archery - to use for hunting as an alternative to close-combat
Candle making - in conjunction with any religious ceremonies or grave keeping she does
Food preservation - to help survive the Winter
Herbalism and botany - for finding edible plant life and medicinal plants
Construction - for a project I'd like her to get to eventually, a castle for a colony that welcomes Zith and non-Zith devoted to the dead, living, and the in-between

Prompts and Development

Prompt 1
Where was your PC during the Massive Djed Storm of 512?
Bear was preparing to leave when the Storm hit. She was still in Cyphrus with her male partner and his female partner. They were sleeping when the storm hit, but once it hit they woke. Only the male had a small sense that it may rain that day based on how the animals were acting.
How did your PC react to the storm?
She acted on instinct, as did the other two Zith, and moved further into the cave, underground. They went as far down as they could to insure safety from the storm. When the storm had passed, she was impressed by the damage it had caused and by the creatures born from it, irked by the lack of food.
How was your PC personally affected by the storm?
Bear personally saw the storm as a event that created new life, just as the Valterrian created Zith. Hunting was affected and landmarks were destroyed, so becoming lost from traveling too far became a very real possibility. Aside from this, she wasn't affected in any other way.
How were your PC's family & friends affected?
Unknown to her, her birth-colony actually suffered some losses. Some of her brothers and sisters, some whom she'd never met, were out during the storm or were reckless enough to travel out into the storm. Bear's male partner used the storm as an opening to find more slaves and claim more territory.

Bonus: If your PC wasn't already in-play for the storm, write a flashback detailing the events as he or she experienced them.

Prompt 2
How did the city where your character grew up influence their present-day personality or habits?
Growing up in Xy for 3 years, Bear has seen Zith at their best and worst. She accepts that slavery, killing, stealing and many other unspeakable things are a part of everyday life and for some, a way of life. She has also been exposed things foreign to Zith culture, such as art and magic and appreciates the ability to create these things more than the resulting creation.

She's been primarily influenced by her lack of living in a city, though, and grew up by herself in a cave nearby Xy. Because of this, Bear has no fear of being alone and is prone to try and learn something herself or at the least capture/find someone to teach her. She has had slaves, and she is used to hunting for survival. Bear respects weather, having experienced the power of rain, snow, and wind. She has a tendency to curse the sun and stars, though, because of the light they create at night.

How is the city where your character currently resides influencing their personality or habits?
Currently, Bear isn't residing in any city but is visiting a few when she discovers them. As of now, she's only visited Kalinor and is greatly impressed by the Symenestra and their city made from rock. This is only affecting her by her trying to learn more from them and wanting to know what they are and essentially, what they're made of. She a bit more reserved, just a bit, but it's more distraction from everything new than respect.

Her habits are still the same.

Bonus: Write a thread where your PC's place of birth strongly impacts their opinions or actions.

Do Gnosis Marks play a part in your PC’s life? If so, was it the gnosis itself that drew you as a player to the god/goddess, or did the PC worship the deity and get a mark as a result?
Bear doesn't have any gnosis marks but may get one in the future. Anything gained would be from her own pursuit, not my own interest. It's possible she may gain a negative gnosis, too, out of her blatant disrespect for the sun and stars.

Do you find yourself continuing the worship of the god/goddess or has that fallen by the wayside? Is this important to your characters development?
It's important to Bear's development that she learns of Tavasi, Oriana, Kisala, and Dira.

If your PC doesn’t have a Gnosis mark but is still dedicated to a god/goddess, are there any reasons why? Is it a racial trend? A cultural? Is it part of your PC’s overall concept? Or none of the above?
It's part of her development. She will pray to Tavasi, Oriana and Kisala in hope of being fertile and creating healthy life. Bear will also turn to Dira to learn about death.

On the other hand, if religion isn’t important to your PC, why?
As a Zith, Bear wasn't raised to worship any God or Goddess. She does see the Valterrian as her 'maker'. Her form of worship won't be traditional or like any others, it will be unique to her and very odd to most. In her lack of common sense about what is and isn't respectable, she may even offend a God or Goddess with how she chooses to worship. But her intentions are not to offend.
