Built high in the massive branches of Taldera's bloodwood forest, The Spires is a city crafted by the peaceful and scholarly Jamoura. Considered a haven for scholars and sages Mizahar-wide, The Spires is a mecca of philosophy and science that draws people from far and wide with its promise of deeper thinking and higher reasoning.

1st of Winter 512 A.V.
The time had come.
Much of the past season Woath had spent merely planning the layout of what would be his home. The Petal of the Climbing Snake beckoned with it's grand homes grown from the very roots of the trees that made up the city of The Spires. Homes grand enough for building familes, or at least upholding the fragile egos of wealthy landowners. Woath pondered and struggled with newfound personal challenges in Summer. When Fall came, he put the arcane sickness plaguing him out of his mind and went to work drawing up plans for what would be his home. He had a vision of his dwelling, a mass of winding roots and boughs wrapping around a great space that while maintaining space above ground, delved well into the earth. Above and around the structure boughs stretched upward and across, blessed with the growth of leaf and blossoms in Spring and Summer.
Opposite the entrance, a large braided bridge of tree limbs would extend into an elevated scaffold which would hold earth enough to support a modest garden.
He had more plans for the inner structure. The house would consist of a basement, and two stories above it. Then a third and final elevation with a confined space, and an opening to view the branches hanging outside, a meditation chamber free of mundane distractions.
But for now, the seeds had barely just been planted, and Araisha had a ways to go before weaving the structure. Woath smiled warmly as she arrived at the site that had been designated for his house construction. "Greetings, sister Araisha. I'm eager to start our work."
"That's good, I've seen your plans, and they're nothing short of ambitious, to put it kindly." Araisha smiled crookedly. Behind her, a group of Jamoura teamsters had brought some live wood which would serve as the base of the structure.
Without much more ceremony, Woath joined Araisha and her workers carrying the materials to the site he'd chosen. Inside their packs were also some tools for digging, a necessary accessory to bring his design to life. He took a broad, long-handled spade from them, and went to the site to dig out the basement. Meanwhile, the teamsters gathered all around him and laid their materials where they could be retrieved quickly once the work required it.
Woath breathed evenly as he dug a trench. One by one, after laying down the materials the teamsters joined him. Araisha, who obviously had more know-how and experience in designing homes directed their efforts. Working together for several hours, Woath and the others dug a circular trench a few feet deep, and then a ramp leading out of the trench. The plan that seemed to be forming was for them to simply plow and cart the remaining earth in the middle out of the trench little by little. Woath tried to rein in his excitement, but couldn't help but allow himself a smile to witness the progress he was making with the builders. |
