(Flashback) A Lucky Meeting (Fraha)

The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

"Hm..." Zakal smiled his usual smile. "Well I don't always get the chance to go off saving girls all the time now do I?" He laughed. "Like I said, my name is Zakal Shadowrunner. I'm almost eighteen, and I'm a Drykas." Zakal wished that he had windmarks to show off but he didn't. "I haven't met my strider yet though." Zakal didn't even think about the fact that Fraha might not know what he was talking about.

"I live in Endrykas, not far from here. I have a puppy waiting for me to make it back though." He noticed that the fog was slowly beginning to lift. He couldn't tell how hot the air was with being close to the fire.

Fraha listened carefully to him, and raised an eyebrow as he mentioned strider. And Endrykas wasn't a new name to her. "By strider you mean...?" Asked Fraha respectfully. She quickly turned away to look at the blade, it didn't change colour but it sure was hot.

Meanwhile the stink of burned bird, still in the air, began to be less powerfull, a sign that Fraha was getting used to it. The for was raising, Fraha almost felt sad about it. She liked the feeling before.

"It's hard to explain. Think of a horse that you're drawn to. Like you fell like you know this horse already when you've just met." He really wasn't too sure on how to answer her question.

"What about you?" Zakal was curious why a girl like her was traveling in the wilderness alone. It was very dangerous and she had to know that. "What are you doing out here on your own?"

Fraha nodded curious. Well, actually i'm travelling, I escaped from Yahebah as I turned 17 and now i'm heading to Syliras. Fraha stood up and went to check the blade. It was now slightly blackned from the oxidation process and Fraha felt that it was hot enough to use it for the purpose. She took it grabbing the hilt through the cloth of her cloak.

It was rather hot and she realized that soon the hilt would start burning too. It was good she renembered how to manage heat like her father told her. Untill you feel the pinching an all the surface it means that the heat is still manageble.

She went to Zakal kneeld near him. I think it will hurt as hell, want a stick for the mouth? said she, a bit worried.

Zakal nodded. He had been burned a few times, but never on purpose. He knew that the pain would be excruciating, so he looked around for anything he could bite. He then realized he was on a dead beast with two arrows in it. Turning his body slightly, he grunted in pain as his smaller cuts opened back up. He placed his hand on the arrow that he had used his hand to stab the alpha male with, and yank it out. It hurt a lot, but he needed something in his teeth for something like this.

Placing the arrow in his mouth, blood dripping off of the arrowhead, he bit down. Nodding again to Fraha, his arms tensed up as he prepared himself for what would come. It just then occurred to him, that Fraha had probably never done anything like this before and he knew this was a terrible idea. And it would probably end badly.

And so was thinking Fraha, which found herself in an uncomfortable position. She had a great responsability on what she was doing, but was olso the only one that could do it. Save his life, or maybe kill him faster? Fraha was in that situation. But there was no time, the balde was cooling and the anxiety of time passing stressed every second more. Fraha decided how to proceed. She went on Zakal's left, then lowed down and placed a knee and the instep on his legs just to keep you still said she smiling, trying to be confident and make him confident too. His legs were muscular, she could feel it, and so was his chest, she confirmed that when she placed the right forearm on it. Don't worry, i did this some times now and the shape of the Wakizashi id good for fitting any wounds Sitting on him she slowly moved the hot hot blade near his wound.

All she had to do was push the edge against the open, odd space and hold it so everything fould melt together. Ready? on the count of three She made a short break, shook some hair away and took and blinked with the eyes, while focusing on the wound One...Two...! She didn't make it to the three as she pointed quickly the flat part of the hot blade against his skeen releasing some smoke and that special sound that Fraha usually heard only when frying meet or eggs. Keep it still keep it still!!!!

Said Fraha while pressing on Zakal's chest with the elbow to keep him still and with the hot metal ion his wound. The smell of burning flesh mixed with other burning flesh, Zakal's probable imminent grouls and her desperated mental state were hard to handle and Fraha concentrated deeply to not loose control.

Zakal shouted in pure agony. He bit down as hard as he could on the arrow, breaking it. Now his teeth were grinding as he tried to push out the pain. The burning flesh was the most painful thing Zakal had ever experienced in his life.

Zakal didn't care if he bled out! He just wanted the the burning pain to stop. He screamed again in agony, his shouts carried out over the plains. Just make it stop! Zakal thought to himself. He no longer cared about the burning flesh of the giant birds. His own burning scent seemed a thousand times worse.

Thread Awards!

Fraha :
Experience:
Medicine 2
Observation 2
Wakizashi 2
Wilderness Survival 1

Lore:
Easy to Get Lost in the Sea of Grass
The Smell of Roasting Glassbeak
Zakal Shadowrunner: Drykas
Cauterizing a Wound

Additional Notes :
This would have been a lovely thread save for the Glassbeaks. An important thing to remember about them is that they are an apex predator. They are like Velociraptors, but the tendency seems to be that they are as easy to kill as a standard wolf. I understand the instinct to select them as the random monster encounter because as an enemy they are the most well known to populate the Sea of Grass, but they are also the most dangerous predator of the area and cannot simply be taken down by a shot to the jugular by a competent level archer, so please consider that in the future. One of the greatest aspects of Mizahar is the progression of a character from their relatively unimportant and unskilled beginnings to the powerful individual they turn into through threading and experience, save the Glassbeaks for later, or you can't have any satisfaction when you are finally able to kill them!

I did not include Zakal's grade due to the dated nature of this thread, but if you ever return, Zakal, just PM me and I'll be happy to turn it over.
