Summer 12 421 -night-
Vick had another few bells to his name before he had to get back to work on the project. That project he had nicknamed MBA which was Magecraft Boring Arrows. Simple and to the point in his own little head he thought as he took a seat in his office.
He had took a seat in his office and smiled at the box in front of him. Sixty-two bones laid inside a box neatly in a circle. He had counted them all and normally would just had used a few but a few bells ago he overheard talk from other Malediction users boosting about how many bones they used. Vick knew they were nothing but children trying to play with fire but he wanted to also stroke his ego so he made a very simple request. A sparrow, it was caught and killed on the island with the help of a ghost taking over the body. It was clean and the bones sent to Vick once they were done along with the blood they were able to get which was just three ounces.
Sixty-two bones. He was going to work on them all to form one malediction item that would really push his own skills. The most bones he had worked with were in the low numbers but he could work with this many. It would just take time and the results would be more powerful at a cost even if it was from the same being.
His fingers ran along each small bone as he smiled to himself. This was just too much in one night and he would have to split it up in a few nights. If he could do fifteen in a night than it would take four nights to do most of the word and the fifth night to finish the task up.
The bones were already cleaned for him so that part of the task was done. A part of him was thankful on that part since he did not have as much time as he wished. He was going to make this artifact with a simple new idea. He was always working on new ideas to try to make the field of his trade to try to get an upper hand. The upper hand was to beat other people in the same field. Within his life he had to be better compared to people who could do the same but if Vick had new and different techniques he could do better.
A single needle was grabbed by his right hand, he placed it over a open candle’s flame as he waited watching it heat with unblinking eyes. After it came to a good heat in his eyes he dipped it in red ink and then took it to the first small bone. This was going to be a mix of painting and drawing along with using his years of experience with working with bones. The idea was to paint on the bones but as he worked he pressed the needle into the bone. It was not going to dent the soft bones but it was going to stain the bones so even if the paint was cut into or faded the stain itself would last.
The bones were very small. Smaller than what he would have liked to work with but he knew he could do this simply due to the fact of so many years he had done this. He felt that if he did this when he was first starting out he would have made too many mistakes and panic with the work.
The circle was drawn yet not just on the side of the small bone but all around it transforming it into a three dimensional circle in a sense. So the entire bone became the circle as he wrote a single tiny word that was “This” along it . It was not easy but each side of the tiny neck bone held a single letter. The work on the bone was done since now he did not have to carve into it since the paint would do more work to it so he did not have to risk damaging the small bone.
