Winter 30th 512 AV
4th Bell (4pm)

Nai’a had been working her shift at the Infirmary for 8 bells already, she was supposed to get off, but it seemed that everyone and their brother had become sick as of late. She did not mind though, she enjoyed the work, and enjoyed helping other people. She even enjoyed the stern elder lady, Mistress Claira, bustling around giving commands to the others. She could not help but smile at the woman, even when she was telling Nai’a that she was doing something wrong. Mistress Claira was a great mentor, and she looked up to her, always ready and willing to learn whatever the woman threw her way.

Nai’a looked over at her previous patient, checking to see if he was done retching the contents in his belly yet. The poor man was a sailor, and was out celebrating with his fellows into the wee morning hours, and seemed to have upset one of his fellow crew members and found himself bruised up and hung over. Unfortunately he was paying for all the consumption of that Kelp beer he consumed. There wasn’t much that could be done for the hangover, but she did use her mark of Rak’keli to heal the bruising on his face. She made a medicine to alleviate the headache of his hang over, fluids to hydrate his body, and of course he was vomiting the alcohol up and out of his system. She had to make she he kept plenty of water in his system though. Most people assumed that water makes one more drunk, but in reality it hydrates your dehydrated body, which sort of shocks your system. Alcohol dehydrates you, and of course so does vomiting. Nai’a shook her head from side to side with a jovial smile at the man, and patted him on the back, wiping his face and lips with a wet cloth.

Nai’a left the man to his vomiting and walked down the hall to find Mistress Claira, to see what else she could do to help. Nai’a planned on being in the Infirmary until late in the evening helping Mistres Claira out. The poor old woman worked long hard days, she enjoyed of that Nai’a was sure, but she still wanted to help Claira out, plus the more she learned the more she could help, it was a win-win situation really.

[Infirmary] ~Healing the Sick,Wounded, & Depressed

Postby C'Arya Tomva on January 20th, 2013, 4:00 am

C’Arya just felt...hot. Even though the tiger blood in her made her average temperature a few degrees above normal, this was different. Her entire body ached, shivers racked here spine, despite the heat she felt. She walked down the street, her body wet with sweat, though the air was cool. She wiped her forehead clean, nausea gripping her stomach. She vomited her recent meal of bread and cheese into a drain, convulsions running up and down her body. She needed help. She knocked on the door of a nearby house, and someone looked through the peep hole. She inquired, voice trembling where the nearest hospital was. The voice told her through the door that the infirmary was the closest, just up the road a ways. She thanked the man, walking back onto the road, heading in the directions the man had given her.

Her strength was failing, there was only one way she could get there in time. She started to strip off her clothes, and when she was nude, she stuffed her clothes in a pack, arms trembling, and in a shower of golden sparks, Shifted into a tiger. Then she loped along at the twice running pace of a human, arriving at the infirmary in mere minutes. Many townspeople would have stories to tell to their families when they came home. When she came up to the entrance to the infirmary, she gave a roar and, with a huge paw, burst open the door, splintering wood and bending hinges. She walked through the halls, slower and slower every second, eyes lazily drooping. She came to a girl with pink hair, who looked more than a bit startled, and fell unconscious. With an explosion of gold sparks, now tainted with black, the tiger Shifted back into her human form, and lay there, naked, on the cold floor.

Mistress Claira handed Nai’a a list of people to be seen and checked on, as well as things to be cleaned that she needed help with. Nai’a examined the list, about to go to one of the patients when a rather large tiger walking up to her. She would have been startled had it not been for the fact that the tiger was probably a Kelvic. She heard Mistress Claira’s shocked and rather startled gasp from behind her, but she ignored it. The tiger dropped to the floor and shifted in a human, which laid there unconscious.

Nai’a wasted no time in wondering what was going on, it was obvious by the hue of the woman’s skin, and the flushed face that she was sick. Nai’a ran over to her, dropping to her knees, examining the woman’s naked body. She felt the woman’s forehead with the back of her hand; it was hot as fire and clammy from sweat. Nai’a opened the girl’s eyes, checking the dilation of her pupils; she laid her head down on the woman’s exposed chest, listening to the ragged breathing and rattle of her chest.

It was clear the woman was affected with a cold, possibly from eating a rat in her kelvic form. It seemed a lot of the citizens were suffering from the same symptoms as this woman; it was so common now, so similar to the common cold. But she had let the illness go on too long without proper medical care, and that lead to her body shutting down from its weakened state. Nai’a was not worried though, she knew she could heal the woman with the mark of Rak’Keli, she was confident in her ability to heal the weak, the sick.

Nai’a laid her palms over the woman’s chest, sending a quick prayer to her deity Rak’Keli, as the soft, warm, glowing light with a blue tint emanated from her palms, entering the woman’s body to search out the damage, and repairing what her mark could repair.

”You two! Come here. NOW. Nai’a said to two men chatting by the desk, with a stern tone full of that of a leader. The two man looked at her with a frown and confused look on their faces, but came over without a comment.

Nai’a pointed to the younger dark haired man, barking orders at him. “Go prep a room for this woman, now. You need to hurry.” The dark haired man looked down at the woman’s naked body, a flush blooming on his face, his eyes only lingered for a few seconds, then he nodded and scurried off hurriedly to a vacant room.

Once she saw the young man leaving she looked at the slightly older man and started ordering him around too. “You will be carrying this woman to the room. Do not get any ideas of touching her exposed flesh, or you WILL deal with me, and Mistress Claira. Understood?” Nai’a said in a calm voice rising to her feet. The blonde man nodded his head, and picked up the woman’s body, following the dark haired man. Nai’a then turned her attention to Mistress Claira.

“Mistress Claira, I need you to make a medicine for the woman to take home with her. I healed her of the cold and fever, but she needs to take medicine with her in case she becomes sick again. The sickness has weakened her immune system, and she is prone to becoming sick again, unless she strengthens it.” Nai’a said this to Mistress Claira in a voice that carried a order underneath it, but with a respectful manner.

A smile formed on Claira’s old withered face, making her eyes sparkle. “I will make a master healer out of you yet girly. I will get right to that medicine in thirty chimes, there is some other things that need my attention before I make it.” Mistress Claira turned her back to Nai’a, then turned back to face her, her wrinkled finger pointing at Nai’a. “Oh, and I forgive you this time for that tone, but next time I will not be so forgiving. I am the boss around here.” Mistress Claira said this in a stern tone, but chuckled at the end, making Nai’a relax. The woman then turned and headed off to her duties, and Nai’a inhaled a deep breath calming her nerves as she went down the hall to check on her fellow Kelvic.

[Infirmary] ~Healing the Sick,Wounded, & Depressed

Postby C'Arya Tomva on January 20th, 2013, 5:23 am

C’Arya awoke suddenly, with a deep inhale. She felt weak, as one might after walking for a day, but not hot anymore. Her fever was gone. She opened her eyes and was blinded by the light. She blinked and her vision cleared, revealing a pink haired woman, smelling slightly of salt. Pink hair, impossible unless dyed. No, this was no die, she had to be a Kelvic. It had been so long since she had seen another one of her own kind, her heart was brimming with joy. She been the one that healed me, she thought, such powers she must posses. The joy of seeing her sister of the lab, and being healed, she could not contain herself. She quickly reached up and hugged the pink haired woman, the cool feeling of her skin relaxing her.

C’Arya then said, “Thank you for healing me, I’m sorry about the door, but couldn’t I Shift in time. I would be happy to repay you. I don’t know how I got sick, I had only had some bread and cheese at the Inn. Wait, the ale! The ale tasted funny, like something was rotting in the stills. If that spoiled beer is what caused this, I fear you may have many more like me coming in.” She then muttered to herself, “This is why I don’t drink!”

She then looked up at the girl, “I simply must have your name, for you are the best doctor I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Granted I haven’t visited many doctors...” She was lost in thought for a few more moments. Her thoughts were interrupted by the woman’s response.

She watched over the red headed kelvic for 3 bells, only leaving the room when she had to, and quickly coming back to check in on her. When the woman awoke and looked up at her with her squinted deep green eyes, with vertical slit pupils, a overwhelming sense of joy flooded over her features. Nai’a was a bit shocked, and slightly stunned, that the woman hugged her. But she returned the hug, with a reassuring pat on the woman’s back.

The woman’s voice rushed out, slightly rough from not using her voice for a long period of time, but still held a soft tune. “Thank you for healing me, I’m sorry about the door, but couldn’t I Shift in time. I would be happy to repay you. I don’t know how I got sick; I had only had some bread and cheese at the Inn. Wait, the ale! The ale tasted funny, like something was rotting in the stills. If that spoiled beer is what caused this, I fear you may have many more like me coming in.” She then muttered to herself, “This is why I don’t drink!”

Nai’a smiled down at the woman, a warm smile reaching her eyes, her voice carrying a calm, soft melody as she spoke to the young woman. “You are welcome, and the door can be easily fixed. Payment is not necessary, I have already received payment in knowing that you are healed, that is all the payment a healer needs, is the knowing that her patient is healed and happy.” Nai’a chuckled softly, as the girl explained how she must of gotten sick. “We do not know much about what is causing people to become so sick and have fevers. It is happening to quite a few citizens, and I fear that it will only become worse before it gets better. I advise staying away from rats and insects, do not touch them, and do not eat them. As for the ale… I would also advise to stay away from that as well. A rat could have gotten into the barrel, making the sickness spread to individuals who drank. I am not saying to be in complete utter panic and shelter yourself, just to be more careful about what you do, eat, and drink. Nai’a touched the woman’s shoulder, giving her a comforting squeeze as she smiled, letting the woman speak once more.

“I simply must have your name, for you are the best doctor I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Granted I haven’t visited many doctors...”

Nai’a was a bit taken back, she did not believe herself to be the ‘best’ doctor, but she was more than confident in her abilities to heal. It warmed her heart to hear her patient compliment her so though, a healer always aims to please her patients, make them happy, comfortable, and of course well again.

“My name is Nai’a, I am an assistance her at the infirmary, I heal with the mark of Rak’Keli. I am very pleased that you are feeling better now. I have Mistress Claira making you some medicine, as I am still learning that trade right now. You are to take this medicine twice a day, for one week. Preferably one dose in the morning, and one dose at night. Your body has been weakened by the sickness that had taken over your body. This medicine will help you regain that strength once again, and after the week mark is over, you will feel good as new. Nai’a spoke with a business tone, but friendly as well, grinning at the young red headed woman. “I am sure you are feeling well now, but you will notice the weakness in your body. You may not be able to exert as much energy as you used to.”

Nai’a cleared her throat and realized she did not get the woman’s name, did she not hear her tell her? Or did the woman not give it? Nai’a felt slightly embarrassed by the fact that she may of not heard the woman say her name, so she had to make amends for this. “I am sorry; I did not catch your name..?”

[Infirmary] ~Healing the Sick,Wounded, & Depressed

Postby C'Arya Tomva on January 20th, 2013, 6:21 pm

C’Arya was still smiling when the girl replied.“My name is Nai’a, I am an assistance her at the infirmary, I heal with the mark of Rak’Keli. I am very pleased that you are feeling better now. I have Mistress Claira making you some medicine, as I am still learning that trade right now. You are to take this medicine twice a day, for one week. This medicine will help you regain that strength once again, and after the week mark is over, you will feel good as new.” Nai’a, as she was called, spoke with a serious tone, but it was quite soothing as well, as she grinned back at C’Arya. “I am sure you are feeling well now, but you will notice the weakness in your body. You may not be able to exert as much energy as you used to.”

She flexed her fingers, testing the strength of her hand, finding that they were trembling with the small effort. She felt helpless, a feeling she did not care for at all. The moment she recovered, she would go on a hunt, and resume her place as queen of the forest. Nai’a then inquired, “I am sorry; I did not catch your name..?” C’Arya then realised she had not properly introduced herself, with all of the goings on. “I am C’Arya Tomva, of the third generation of Kelvics. I have tiger blood in me, I’m sure you have already gathered that though.” she said, smiling guiltily at the last part. “Two times a day? Okay, I can manage that. She then fell back into her bed, falling swiftly into sleep.

[Infirmary] ~Healing the Sick,Wounded, & Depressed

C'Arya Tomva... C'Arya Tomva.. Tiger...Wild Lands Nai'a repeated the woman's name in her head, noting that she vaguely remembered the Kelvic woman from the Wild Lands, with Aello. She knew the woman looked familiar but she just was not sure whether or not it was the same tiger, that was why she was not as startled as someone who did not know about Kelvics. The woman fell back after speaking briefly.

Nai'a smiled down at the Kelvic, glad she was feeling slightly better, weak but better. She hoped that one day she would receive a second mark from Rak'Keli, that way she could better serve her and heal people better. She would work hard everyday to receive that second mark, holding on to the hope that Rak'Keli will notice that work, hope, and her ability.

Mistress Claira walked in with a small tight smile on her lips, handing Nai'a the medicine she had made. Nai'a wanted to make the medicine herself, but there was no time for her to do that, she wanted to make sure C'Arya was going to be okay, she had a intense pull to heal and see her patient through.

Mistress Claira handed her the medicine looking down at C'Arya, She will be fine. This medicine will help her regain her strength. You need to finish up with the other patients on the list. Then you really need to go home and get rest, or you will get sick yourself, working so hard. Mistress Claira said this in a stern tone, most people would take it as a order from their boss, but Nai'a took it as the woman being nice. Maybe she just understood her better than others? Or maybe she refused to look at the woman as some did? Either way Nai'a nodded at the woman smiling, Yes Mistress Claira. The withered old woman nodded her head and strolled out of the room.

Nai'a bent down and brushed the hair out of C'Arya's face, noting that the fever was indeed gone, as well as the clammy sweat that was there before. She pulled the covers up over the woman's small, yet strong, body. Tucking her in as if she would a child. She wrote a note on a piece of paper that read,

"C'Arya here is your medicine, take this tomorrow in the morning and then at night. I hope to see you around Zeltiva again, not the Infirmary. Get strong soon my Kelvic friend.

Best Wishes,
Nai'a"

Nai'a smiled happy at the note, and set it under the medium size vial of medicine. She wondered if the woman could read. Most Kelvics could not read at all, but some had a basic knowledge of it. She was thankful that her former bond mate, a intelligent mage, spent the time to teach her how to read and write. Nai'a looked down at her concealer ring, that was once the mage's ring, she missed him everyday. As more and more days passes, and she had yet to find his killer or killers, she became more mad at herself. She needed to find the men, and make them pay for what they did to her bondmate. She cast the angry thoughts aside, bringing her attention back to C'Arya.

She looked down at the red headed woman once more, overwhelmed with the sense of being proud, as well as happiness that she helped heal her, that she was helping heal a lot of the people of Zeltiva, helping them fight this sickness that had begun to over run the city and it's residence. Nai'a turned and left the woman to her rest, walking out of the door, to go and check on her other sick patients.

[Infirmary] ~Healing the Sick,Wounded, & Depressed

Postby C'Arya Tomva on January 21st, 2013, 4:57 pm

C’Arya awoke from a sweet sleep, her hair sticking up in tuffs. She had been dreaming about the summer time, good hunting and no need for fire. She opened her eyes, rubbing them to get the drowsiness out. She sat up and looked around. She did not see anyone, but there was a note under a bottle of medicine. She picked up the bottle and set it aside, taking the note and attempted to read it, she was never very good with letters. From what she could understand, it was telling her to take her medicine, and that Nai’a wanted to see her again, not when she was sick.

She clutched the note to her chest, folded it and put it her pack. I wonder if my clothes are still where I left them? No matter, she would just have to do without. She shouldered her pack and reached up and plucked one fiery strand of hair out, and put it on her pillow, a goodbye note in itself. She passed a young man in the hall, who blushed and looked away when she walked by him. She pulled the door open and stepped out onto the road, traveling up its lengths to retrieve her clothes. When she reached them, she dressed quickly and walked out the gates, into the wilds beyond.
