Open Cloud gazing

Ezra is cloud gazing, he feels someone watching him and speaks out to them. Who is it?

While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Cloud gazing

Ezra watched the clouds idle by slowly from his position in the grass, laid on his back with his arms woven loosely under his head for support. It had been a while since he had been so calm and unguarded. Normally he had to keep up his stony facade to keep the people in the city from prying in on his life, But out here in the wildlands he could drop the mask and just cloud-gaze his worries away.

And that's what he planned to do.

Ezra sighed softly as he watched a particularly large cloud make its merry way across the horizon. If only he had a close friend to talk to when needed. He hadn't had someone he could call a 'friend' in years.

He needed someone that he could just simply talk to and wont be offended by his mood swings and sarcasm. Ezra knew that his personality tended to come off a bit asshole-ish but he couldn't help the way he thought.

Ezra furrowed his brow at a sudden feeling of being watched and he quickly fell back into his apathetic and guarded facade, all his muscles flexed forgetting all about the calmness they had held just a mere few seconds ago. He sat up slowly and brought one knee up so that he could rest the arm he had been laying his head on.

He let his eyes slide behind his fringe making sure to keep a watch of his surroundings. He sat on guard for at least 5 minutes before growing impatient and going on the offensive.

"I know you're out there, no use in hiding. If you have something to say to me this is your chance, if not beat it before I go over there and teach you why staring is rude."

He waited there in the grass for a second almost convinced that the person, or thing wasn't going to show itself before he heard the faint crunching of grass heading his way.

Kalye reveled himself to the young lad. With the ferret on his head, he spoke to the boy.

"I see you found me" Kayle said with a smile on his face.
"I was laying here and i fell asleep, but woke up when i heard a voice." he added.

Kayle moved towards the boy, still bearing his gentle smile. Ren, the ferret sat on his head. She opened her mouth and gave a large yawn. kayle laughed slightly and continued talking to the boy.

"you seemed troubled, is something the matter?" he asked the boy.

Kayle sat down facing the boy from a friendly distance

"Kindness is the weapon I wield. It's sharper, stronger and more powerful than any blade, and it penetrates someone's heart better than any arrow. it's power doesn't only come from the wielder, but from the hearts of many as well. Kindness isn't a weapon that should be taken lightly."

Ezra lifted his head at the boy as he sat in front of him, not to close but close enough for him to hear what he was saying. He scanned him over looking for a sign of a threat but found none. He slowly let some of his guard down meeting the boys eyes with his silvery ones.

"Nothing that concerns you" Ezra replied to his question leaning back into the grass holding himself up with his hands.

The wind started to blow causing Ezra's hair to sweep out of his face giving the boy a clear view of his sharp features and pale skin.

"why were you sleeping in the middle of nowhere anyway?" He asked the boy sitting in front of him, hoping he didn't catch the slight reddening of his cheeks. He tended to keep his face hidden, most people who found out about his Symenestra avoided him, so Letting someone he didn't even know see his face was kind of a shock. Damned wind.

Ezra mentally slapped himself for being so unguarded but for some strange reason he didn't feel endangered around the boy as he usually did around others.

He decided to let his instincts take control and he relaxed into a sitting position his legs crossed. He leaned forward watching the boy and waiting for an answer to his question.

Kayle inclined his head slightly at the boy’s response. Kayle noticed that the boy was looking at him as if he was checking if he was a theat. The boy leaned back, sweeping his hair showing his sharp fangs and pale white skin. Kayle noticed the fang, but didn’t know how to react to it. The boy soon asked Kayle about the reason he slept in this sort of area.

“Well… this place is peaceful, and Ren here has a lot of fun running around.” Kayle said, gesturing for the ferret to jump in his hands.

Ren leapt from Kayle’s head straight into his cupped hands. She wrinkled her nose as she sniffs the air, soon after the hair on her back raised and she retreated into Kayle backpack.

“Ren…? Sorry she’s shy… Anyways, how did you notice me in the tall grass? I thought I was hidden from sight.” Kayle asked.

Kayle stood up and retrieved his backpack and he sat down closer to the boy, who seemed to be more relaxed that before. His backpack ruffled as he waited for a response.

Ezra watched him move closer, surprisingly not minding in the least whether he got closer or not. He thought about the question The boy asked and watched him get comfortable in the grass.
"It was more of a feeling of somebody watching me than seeing you" Ezra replied after giving the question some thought.
He could feel his canines retracting back to their original size and slid his tongue over them quickly. "I didn't know anyone else came out this far, you must have a lot of time on your hands."
Ezra didn't know what he was even thinking. Making conversation, he spat the word out in his mind almost like it was poisonous.
He was never one to start conversations, and he had no idea what was compelling him to now. Probably loneliness a voice in the back of his head said.
Ezra scoffed at the voice. He didn't get lonely, bored yes, But never lonely. He watched the boy across from him relaxing his eyes a little.
Well if he was going to talk to someone he might as well be somewhat nice.

As Kayle watched the boy thinking about his answer he opens it backpack, tending to the shaking Ren. So the boy gave his answer and Kayle gave a slight chuckle as a response.

“So you sensed me, huh? Sure you didn’t guess?” Kayle teased.

Kayle gently lifts Ren out of the bag, but soon scrambles back in. Kayle looked at the boy’s silvery eyes as he listened to the boy’s next statement. Kayle raised his hand under his chin, adopting a thinking position. He thought about the boy’s statement and reflected on it. He gave a smile and returned to the conversation.

“I guess I do” Kayle said, laughed afterwards.

Kayle once again looked at the boy’s fang; he could obviously tell he was not a human. However, he believed everyone is a blank canvas and the actions they do paint a good or bad picture. So he wasn’t too bothered by it.

“So, What are you?” Kayle said bluntly, staring into the boy’s eyes.

Ezra blanked. Nobody had ever just came right out and asked what he was before. and the weird thing was that the boy didn't seem to concerned either.
He though about lying to him. maybe telling him he was a Kelvic. But he knew that wouldn't go over well. There was no way a Kelvic could be as pale as him.
Once again Ezra was left with scanning the boy again for any sign of threat his muscles flexing on reflex.
'Come on Ezra you know he isn't a threat, Just curious' the voice in his head soothed him.
He knew that, he did. He just wasn't used to such a blunt question. Sitting up straighter, Ezra decided to just out with it.
He looked straight into the boys unwavering eyes and let the smallest of smiles slip through his facade "I'm a mutt. or mixed blood. Human and Symenestra." Ezra for the first time looked the boy over and realized he didnt know what he was either. "What about you?"

“A mutt?” Kayle repeated.
“I think mix blood would be a better term. So you’re Half human and Sy… men… estra…, Symen…est… ra, Symenestra!?” He said, struggling to pronoun the word.

Kayle pondered about the race Symenestra, he felt like he’s heard about it before. However, his thoughts disburse when the boy looked at him strangle as if he was trying to spot something. Kayle touched his face checking if there was debris from the ground on his face, but there was nothing. He then brushed his cloak and clothing. Suddenly the boy spoke, asking about Kayle race. Kayle expressed confusion and he inclined his head once again.

“Umm… Last I check I was human…. I think…” Kayle said looking at his hand, inspecting it.
“Yeah, I’m human” he added, smiling at the boy.
“Why do you ask?”

Kayle was genuinely unsure about the reason why boy asked the question. He thought that he looked very human, so human that humans knew he was human.

Cloud gazing

Postby Ezra Luxford on February 15th, 2013, 7:20 am

Ezra rolled his eyes over dramatically like he always does "Well, there are races that can hide their form. "
He watched for the boys reaction to what he said before continuing "How was I supposed to know you were human? I don't have the snout of a Wolf Kelvic you know."
Ezra seriously was glad for that too, who would want a strong sense of smell in slums where he lived!? Not him that's for sure.
"So I don't think we have really introduced ourselves, My name is Ezra, and you are?"
Ezra asked as politely as he could before shifting himself into a more comfortable position.
As he waited for the boys answer he unconsciously began to fiddle with the silver ring on his right hands ring finger. Something he does often when his hands are restless.

Kayle gave the boy a simple smile as he spoke. Kayle once again pulled out Ren from his bag and then he began his introduction.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Kayle and this if my little companion, Ren. I hope that we didn’t come off as a threat when we first appeared.” Kayle said.

After the introduction Ren once again escaped Kayle’s gently grip and hide in the bag.

“Don’t take it the wrong way, but I think she’s sacred of you” Kayle said, staring at Ren, hiding under a winter blanket.

Kayle looked back up and noticed the boy fidgeting with a ring. Kayle new from experience that it meant Ezra felt uneasy. Kayle lightly exhaled his breath and began to speak in hope that it would settle Ezra’s nerves.

“So what’s that ring, was it a gift or something?”
