The Kandukta Basin is an enormous lake that is fed by dozens of little springs and tributaries throughout Taloba. It is the major source of water, and a popular watering hole for the inhabitants of the region. Prone to flooding in the summer, the Kandukta offers a bountiful harvest in the form of fish, water, and underwater herbs. It attracts all sorts of wildlife, from the little birds to the enormous jungle critters and other animals. A variety of fish, from the small, poisonous, rainbow-colored 'seed' fish to larger gulpers and great long Falyndar fantails, a favourite of the Myrians for their difficulty to catch and their beauty.
The Basin is located just west of Taloba, but despite this, it still sees some activity from the Dhani, who sometimes linger in the water. If they're caught, they're done for, but it's a matter of catching the shape-shifting menaces, and that's not so easy. Every summer, the Kandukta floods, covering the surrounding areas and making the churning water just that much more deadly. It recedes in the fall, when the rainy season is done. |
