Alabast Hartbane Appearance Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 14 Birthday: 44th, Spring, 499AV Birthplace: Mithryn Outpost Appearance: Height: 5'10" Weight: 140lbs Build: Slim Character Concept Bast is an adventurer, a hunter, a protector and a steward. He is in love with nature and the wilderness, he loves his family, and he hates bullies and cheaters and anyone who take advantage of others. He was raised with a strong urge to defend others and preserve peace and harmony. Much more a doer than a thinker or talker, though he has nothing against thinking and talking, and is very conversational. Likes to be a part of a team, whether that's his family, friends, or the Syliran Knights. Character History Bast has an older brother and sister, and a younger sister. The older siblings, Kasai and Isikai, are fraternal twins. Kasai is a like any hot headed seventeen year old boy and always chasing skirts or giving his younger brother a hard time when he's not training for the Knights, and Isikai is strangely just like him, just as brash and hot blooded and prone to give Alabast trouble in the name of entertainment, though she enjoys hunting more that Kasai and is more focused on doing a good job than hyping up her own name. Alabast's younger sister is Yomi, nine years old, and she's the one who really runs the family and is spoiled so rotten she's sweet again. Alabast and his siblings can thank their mother, Oya, for their odd names. Now a school teacher for the farmer's children on the Outpost, Oya was educated in Zeltiva, with a focus on the Ancient Tongue and insisted to Alabast's father that all her children receive names in the language despite his protests of wanting to name them something normal like "Steve". Speaking of Alabast's father, the man goes by the name of 'Left-Eye' Lu (formerly 'Long-shot Lu') to the Knights of the Outpost, Kalu Hartbane to Oya, and 'Father' to Alabast and his siblings. Kalu himself earned not only his nickname but his family name as well, as he was quite a renowned deer hunter in his youth before joining the Knights and being transferred to the Outpost where he met Oya. Life is hard on the Mithryn Outpost. Alabast is only glad his isn't a farmer's child, as he'd have to spend every day he wasn't in lessons tilling the field in back breaking toil. Instead, Alabast has spent many days of his youth with his father and older sister, either hunting or patrolling the woods around the fields, and keeping the area safe. Kalu and Isikai are both Knights of the Green Company, 4th Regiment Gold Quadron. Meanwhile, Kasai is a member of the Grey Company, finding life behind stone walls (and closer to unwed farmer's daughter's) much more to his liking. Alabast and Isikai both have marks of Sensitivity from Oriana which they earned together. Isikai had long been on the trail of poachers in the area around the outpost, but had no luck pinpointing their location. Bandits had moved in to a cave nearby. Bandits are bad enough, but the wilds of Syliras are no easy place and the men were desperate. They had taken to over hunting and poaching the animals around the farm lands, killing bears and their cubs for their meat and valuable skins. Killing off so many apex predators in an area could have disastrous effects on the ecosystem and Isikai needed to put them down. It was only a matter of time before they started trying to pull night raids on the crop. Alabast was tracking game in the area for his father (who likes to keep account of the eatable animal populations) when he stumbled across their cave. He immediately went back and notified his sister (who was the nearest knight of the Green Company), and the duo (more Isikai as Alabast was still weak with the bow) sniped the poachers from afar. Oriana took note of this action and marked the siblings with her Gnosis, for the dual purpose of ensuring the safety of her bears and working together as a family. Recently, Alabast has left the outpost to live in Syliras as squire to another family, his father citing that he needs to see the city and live there for at least a while if he's going to join the knights and protect it's citizens.
