The small zith was living up to his name as he was hacking small pieces of wood from a tree trunk with the sharp thingy he had looted from a corpse ages ago. Sure being the runt of the family had made him the but of all jokes and usually ended with him doing the stupid tasks nobody else wanted to do. But he had run away from his family to get away from all that! Not to end up in another group with a bunch of other lazy stupid good for nothings!

“Stupid wolfie humans, letting Snarl do all the work.” He muttered underneath his breath, his wings twitching and flaring in accordance to his horrible mood. He gave the trunk a few more whacks before putting away his hacking tool. And bend down to gather up the pieces.
“Always Snarl do this, snarl do that, snarl make fire, snarl set up camp. But what do they do? Nothing! Just sit around on lazy back and wait for snarl to do the stuff.” He groused as he made his way back towards their camping place. “They not even go look for wood while I make fire. No thats all my duty. Pha!” the small zith quieted down as he got into hearing distance of the camping place.
Lazy and infuriatingly ignorant mongrels they might be, but they where also wolves, pretty able to chew him into bite sized pieces without to much trouble on their part.

He each single person who was in the clearing an annoyed stare, he darelessly dropped the woodchips next to a smaller pile of dry wood he had gathered earlier. “Not even dug fire pit yet, lazy mongrels.” he muttered to himself as he sat down on his knee's and began brushing away leaves, twis and other flammable material before digging a small pit, using the dirt to build small walls around it to keep the fire easily contained.

He grabbed a few handfuls of the tiny wooden pieces and dropped them inside the primitive fire pit and began dug his flint and steel out of his rucksack. He leaned towards the fire pit, holding the piece of flint as close to the splinters and small pieces of wood and began slamming the steel against the flint. Keeping a keen eye on the splinters of wood for any sights of smoking or other signs that a spark had sparked a fire. He didn't have much success and the more the already irritate tried to light it on fire and failed, the worse his mood became. Slow mutterings and curses became louder and his wings gave a slight twitch with each failed attempt. When after at least half a bell of trying he managed to produce a small flame he let out an exited yelp of joy and carefully began to feed the flame the wood chips, steadily letting it grow larger and larger until he finally could dump one of the dry branches in the fire.

Snarl looked upon his achievement, a small fire that was happily burning away in a primitive fire pit, with not a small amount of pride on his face.

Setting up camp.[Cedrik, krepo and the rest]

The smell was unmistakable, pungent in the sensitive nose of the wolf which twitched accordingly as the infused mountain air caressed the delicate black skin. Beside him, his brother could smell the same thing. A glance at one another, red eyes filled with one and only remark "You are thinking the same thing as I, don't you?" The instinct took over that part of him which made him human, for now Cedrick was a true sky wolf in body and mind. A predator. A hungry bachelor, happy to sink his teeth into the rabbit who was unfortunate enough to smell so delicious. From now, the story would go as it had went many times before, when the two brothers would hunt together in order to sustain their not so comfortable livelihood. It would be as in the past when they'd hunt alongside their pack. The family from which they have now been expelled. But it was not in their nature to dwell upon such. It was in the nature of a wolf to always look ahead and ahead they looked for into the view, obscured by twigs in the undergrowth, came the animated grey orb with eyes like black beads and a heart that pounded so fiercely.

At that point they split their ways, Matti to the left and Cedrick slightly to the right. Being the worse hunter, he'd chase the creature though the narrow clearance between trees, only to direct it's movement in such a way that Matti would easily be able to pounce upon it and break it's neck in a single snap.

Cedrick moved ever so slowly, carefully, cautiously. Even the slightest mistake was now in the earshot of the rabbit, thus every elevation and lowering of the paw had to be as silent and fluid as possible. If twigs were the footing, he'd muffle them with the pads of his paw. Where possible, he stood on soil which kept him silent far better. The great white body would twist and squirm out of the way of low hanging branches as if he was going though a maze. breathing shallow, eyes fixed on the target, ears perked up for maximum awareness. The time and place was perfect. A strategic positioning of the rodent in a way for their sneaky plan to go smoothly, for every last one of it's movements had to be pre-mapped and conditioned. If it was to run into the undergrowth then things might get rather messy for the brothers. The evening was nigh which meant poorer vision for the b, yet did little to affect that of the wolfs and their red eyes. A small breeze that now combed though the trees flowed in the direction in which the rodent would not sniff out the monsters awaiting it's demise, but it's own smell lingered seductively upon their noses. And this air current was perhaps their greatest advantage. It allowed camouflage for the white beasts in the undergrowth.

With a degree of stealth, though perhaps not being the stealthiest of creatures, Cedrick assumed his position. Though it took him an admirable amount of time due to his slight lack of proficiency. Time in which the rabbit managed to hop a few inches for better grazing. it's ears now tilted backward towards Ricky and away from his brother. Perfect.

Just a few more steps, they wear all that was needed. Just a few more silent steps after which the Kelvic would leap out and the chase would begin. An elevation of the paw as momentarily he froze in hid air, all breath ceasing, watching with intent as the rabbit perked up it's beady eyes to look about but had not noticed the strands of white fur peaking from behind the leaves and twigs. Satisfied that he was still unnoticed, that paw dropped to the ground softly, gently, sinking into the soil beneath silently. Another one, his belly now lower to the ground as he weaved though yet another step and then another...

A crack, a sound. It was bound to happen, in all honesty. He was bound to mess up for he was never the king of stealthy approach. There was nothing left to do but to leap forth and chase the sucker down.

Having exuded himself into almost an instant spring, the sky wolf darted after the rabbit, a snarl on it's muzzle, thought singular and that to fallow the strategy, to catch the rabbit. Paws beat the ground as the prey and it's predator leapt downhill. Heart pounding, maintaining the blood flow to those muscles that kept him sly and mobile. Chest heaving with each leap. The wind combing though that fur, drifting past ears which were now laid back for the world relied solely on his sight. The chase was at hand. But he had no limitations now, or so thought not to have any. Crude perhaps it was, this hunt, but oh so beautiful. Alive.

Sometimes however, not everything goes according tot he plan as we may hope, for the rodent took not the path it was suppose to, but skidded direly adjacent, leaving the other wolf unable to pounce n it with such ease. A snarl from Matti came, a howl from Cedrick as the brothers now both engaged in this chase downhill. Matti however being closer, his Kelvic brother right behind him. Darting past obstacles, ripping though the bushes, bolting though patches of open soil between the trunks of tree anatomy, the two wolfs exhausted themselves to the very break of their ability. A few times they split and would come at the creature from both sides. Often they had to think fast and steer it from thick bush where it would easily escape. All the time they brought nothing but pure white fear to it's pounding chest. For the wolfs were admittedly fast, the rabbit too was fast.

But in this long exhausting chase, one party was to make a mistake sooner or later and to the joy of the hunters, it was the prey who committed such a mistake first. Beneath a fallen tree it squirmed, taking just a little more time, those few precious shards of a moment in which it took for the two now fatigues wolfs to catch up. Matti leapt onto the tree, Cedrick around from the side, snapping his teeth at it yet missing, scaring the rodent into almost a right angle turn at which Matti was already waiting for it. His great white paws crushing the spine as he leapt from the tree, teeth instantly embedded into the neck, breaking it in a heart beat. Dinner tonight was one fat rabbit.

* * *

Upon their journey back a familiar voice was heard. “Stupid wolfie humans, letting Snarl do all the work.” spoke the Zith as he made his way towards the camp, not noticing the bothers who now fallowed him at a distance. “Always Snarl do this, snarl do that, snarl make fire, snarl set up camp. But what do they do? Nothing! Just sit around on lazy back and wait for snarl to do the stuff. They not even go look for wood while I make fire. No thats all my duty. Pha!”

A temptation lingered in the back of Cedrick's mind, to howl at the capacity of his fatigued lung, to quieten those blasphemous words of Snarl's. If not for the pair of them, than the winged one would not eat. What good would the first do then? In honesty, though Cedrick would lay down his life in protection of that of Snarl's - for now they were family and family they'd remain - Snarl did irritate him so end at times. Rarely would they engage in conversation, and if such was at hand it was usually Snarl who talked whilst Ricky stared at him in his usual cold stare. In fact sometimes it seemed that the wolf didn't enjoy the company of the rest of the pack, even if such was not at al the case. For all the affection with which he would shower his brother, nuzzling and playing with him at times as if they were pups again, hunting with him, never once leaving his side; he mostly deprived the others of such affection, excluding the few times in which one might dig out that playful, friendly side of Cedrick.

Keeping their steps soft and a distance and a degree of stealth to the movement, the brothers fallowed Snarl until the clearing in which they camped was alas in sight. Quietly they slipped back among the presence of their comrades, bearing the kill of the evening which perhaps lacked in voluptuous glory. It was a kill none the less. It was meat to be shared, though mostly they brought it for Snarl. Any time they could sneak away to hunt again, indulge in raw meat, but Snarl was in charge of the survival in this wilderness thus anything they could do to make his job easier was a thing to be done.

Entwined finally into the fabric of this new prosthetic family which they made, Cedrick finally eased a little bit. Though preferring to remain in his wolf form, his true form as he thought of it, that was not to be the case for the sake of those who spoke not the language of the wolfs: being Snarl. An array of light burst forth for only a split moment, in which the wolf took the skin of a man. A man with skin so pale and thin that he could easily be mistaken for sickly, and thick hair as black as tar. A man with eyes as red as those of Uldr's followers, not that he really knew what those were. Not that he had any knowledge of the god of the undead at all. Bearing little love for clothing, he crept up by Snarl in all his nudity which had failed to phase him completely and watched as the Zith worked. Those red eyes awkwardly stared at every movement, every action before flames finally sprouted from the twigs in the fire pit. Truth it was, Snarl did irritate him often, but he was just as cherished as any other member of their little makeshift family.

Collapsing onto his knees, Ricky relished in the warmth of the flames upon his tiered body. Bony fingers caressed by warmth of air current that now elevated from the orange tongues that danced before his eyes like succubi. This was his spot now, warm and safe. A spot where tonight he'd sleep off the tiredness.
