32nd of Spring, 513 AV

Scarlet was nervous, and probably rightfully so. It was the first time she was seeing Lucy after her birthday. She was told to look at the stables, but had no idea if the woman would be there in the first place. For all she knew, she was panicking that in the end there'd be nobody here, or at least nobody she wanted to talk to right now.

Last time, on Lucy's birthday, a lot of things had remained unsaid. She had wanted to come clean, but in spite of that all the circumstances denied her of this release. For now, it would have been a relief only to see her again and talk to her. The rest could wait for later. As she entered the stables, a pungent smell specific to the place.

"Hello?" Silence. There was no way this could work. Her heart was already racing faster, both at the thoughts of Lucy showing up any second now and the possibility of her not actually being there. She waited a second, two, ten. Still, there was no response. "Hello, I'm sorry..." She choked a bit as the smell invaded her nostrils and mouth. Despicable thing indeed. "I'm looking for Lucy Tides. Is she here?" This time she spoke louder and clearer. Now, it was a time to wait.

[Windmount Stables] Truths Which Bind (Lucy)

Lucy had been at work for about three bells and had finished most of her chores. She went to visit her favorite mare, Lucky. "Hey girl, how've you been?" Lucy asked the horse and she neighed while nodding her head. Lucy laughed understanding that this meant good. It had taken her nearly twenty days to understand how horses think and she was wondering when she would get to ride one. That's when she heard her name being called from the doors of the stables. 'Ah, a familiar voice.'

"i'll be right back." Lucy said and gave lucky a few pats on the head before leaving the stall. She closed the door and locked it to make sure she wouldn't have a repeat of what had happened the time she forgot to. She walked over to the doors and was surprised at the sight of Scarlet. She smiled and looked down at Scarlet.

"Hello there, come to watch the horses today?" She asked although she was sure Scarlet had come for something else by the face she was making. 'I wonder if I made that same face the first day I worked here.' She laughed at the thought and not at what Scarlet was going to say next.

Scarlet blushed a little. If only she'd have been here to watch the horses, she wouldn't have been so nervous. "Hey, birthday girl." She smiled, trying to fix anything but her eyes. It was probably for the best if she kept avoiding her gaze, since she wouldn't have known what to say.

Silence. Scarlet kept a moment of silence as to let the scene set in. They were going to be here for quite some time, and it was for the better if both of them could face such situations. Moreover, it was necessary for Scarlet to gather up enough courage to talk to her. The silence was both a blessing and a curse at the time; It would've been easier if she talked first. But those things never did tend to happen by themselves.

"I'm here..." she started, but stopped before she could say something. The dryness in her mouth had reached an all time record. She took a deep breath and spoke again. "I'm here to talk. I wanted to see you so much after that day..." Great job, Scarlet. Amazing work in not scaring her away. It had been some time since they talked on her birthday, but Scarlet figured that was not a way to start one's conversation. "I'm sorry. It's just good to see you again."

The knot in her neck, the butterflies in her stomach didn't cease immediately as she had expected. Instead, they got stronger the more she tried opening the conversation with Lucy. It seemed almost impossible to not be embarrassed with herself. "You can ask me anything, and I will answer. I promise not to avoid stuff like I did back then." Socially awkward didn't even begin to describe what Scarlet felt towards Lucy

[Windmount Stables] Truths Which Bind (Lucy)

Lucy was about to tell Scarlet that it wasn't her birthday when she realized it was a reference to the day they had met. 'I feel somewhat slow again...' She waited for Scarlet to talk but she didn't for a few chimes. The two just stood in the door of the barn, Lucy staring down at Scarlet who seemed to be avoiding eye contact. 'Is there something on my face that she thinks is weird?' The next words that came out of her friend's lips were redundant to say the least but it put Lucy at ease. The awkward silence was finally over. Or so she thought but the conversation took an odd turn. 'What she going on about?'

"Ey, knock that off will ya?" Lucy asked and gave Scarlet a hearty pat on the back. "No need for them troubles here. Let's just go on a watch the horses alright?" Lucy suggested and stepped around Scarlet to get out of the barn. Her black boots crushed the grass as she closed the barn doors. Her long legs then strode over to one of the arena's, the horse's workout one to be exact. She leaned over the fence watching the jockey train his stallion.

"A question for you then... what are you?" Lucy asked but kept her eyes on the jockey. He was kind with his stallion unlike others, he seemed more connected with the animal. 'Well that's admirable.'

[Windmount Stables] Truths Which Bind (Lucy)

Postby Scarlet Evony on April 22nd, 2013, 7:40 pm

The relaxed air with which Lucy waved her off brought a smile to her face. The way she treated the place as if it were her home brought even more relaxation and acceptance of the fact that she was here, and the smell became less and less important. She looked around, admiring the scenery and the work posed by the other helpers around the stables. Life seemed good here, where man and animal worked in harmony, as one.

However, the proper question put at just the right time, even though startling her for a bit, needed to be answered. She pondered on a way to avoid it, only for a second. She promised she'd tell the truth in full, and she wasn't going to let herself break this promise. "I will show you, but not here. If you can lead us to a place where we can be private, I'll show you and tell you everything." Scarlet looked around, and drew closer to Lucy, telling her in an almost whispered voice. "I'm a kelvic."

She didn't know how Lucy would react to her confession. It was known most kelvics were looking for a bondmate, and an inexplicable feeling deep down inside Scarlet left her with the dry taste in her mouth she had been having since she got here. What's so special about her anyway? It's not like... Or is it?
