40th day, Spring Again, Revy woke up from a nightmare. She hadn't had them as often lately, but whenever she did... they were much worse. A few times she woke up the woman next to her, but tried to brush her nightmare off by saying that it was nothing. Most of the times she'd just hug Zandelia in an attempt to get back to sleep, which often worked. However, today she was wide awake. Out of all the nightmares she's had so far, this one has been the worst. Not only did her victims and their families appear, as per usual without their faces, but also her family. They cursed her for her weakness, her inability to protect them from the cruel death, her crazed fighting which killed so many people. She felt exhausted.... mentally exhausted. Why didn't the nightmares stop? Why was she plagued by them like this? It wasn't her fault. She hadn't been strong, nor old enough to protect her family. She had been performing her job as she killed people. She wasn't to blame. She had to get her mind off things. Maybe some practice with her weapons would do her some good. She was at least glad that she had a day off today. That fat merchant decided that a rest was appropriate. If the pay hadn't been as good as it was, she wouldn't have continued after that horrible first day. That bloody fat ass thought that Revy was his slave or something. But before her thoughts trailed even more grim, she got out of the bed, hoping she didn't wake up her love. After having put on her armor, she looked at her weapons, trying to decide which one she'd train with today. "I could go with my greatsword again. I want to be able to use it properly, but that still leaves me vulnerable to longer range. Should I try to train with my javelins? I still haven't touched them since I bought them.... Yeah, let's do that. With those I think that I'll have the most versatility quickly.", she thought to herself. After picking up four of the fifteen javelins, she head downstairs. She hadn't looked at the other in the room to see if she had awoke just yet. Right now she just wanted to get out, clear her mind and not bother the other with her own problems. After having received a piece of bread and a fresh apple, along with a glass of water, Revy sat down for her breakfast. Vysia was used to the mercenary waking up this early and usually had her share of food ready. If she ever needed help, she just needed to ask the mercenary. Revy owed her that much at least. |
