A surprise spar [Fox]

Orkis nodded and silently led the way to the clearing, contemplating the fight ahead.

He will be able to both defend and retaliate at the same time with the combination he has. He looks strong too..... I will have range on my side, my defense will be weaker but if i keep moving after I attack it could counter that. It will be an interesting match, who knows he might even tie me to a draw.

Orkis was still silent as he made his way into the clearing. He stopped in the middle and removed his bow and quiver, placing them on the floor.

He then removed the spear from his back, holding it in his right hand, bottom on the floor. The wind now was whipping nicely through the clearing, building up for the climax of this meeting between two Drykas.

"When you are ready Fox, we shall begin. What are the terms of the duel?"

A surprise spar [Fox]

"The terms are, this is a test of pure skill, the duel ends when one or both of us are incapacitated in any way, such as physical exhaustion, or injury. There is no prize for victory, other then the boost to ones ego and bragging rights, but I don't find those as true prizes" Fox said as he shrugged his shield off his back and onto his arm. "Do you have anything to add to the terms?" he asked as he assumed his fighting stance. His sword was in his right hand, his shield on his left arm. His left foot forward, knees slightly bent, shield held at the front where he could protect himself easily.

A surprise spar [Fox]

Postby Orkis Strongwind on May 6th, 2013, 7:59 am

Orkis watched his opponent as he spoke and donned his weapon and shield. He's right handed like myself, his left side protected by his shield. He will be slower than me, but i don't want to stay close i want to hit, retreat and repeat.

Orkis half listened to Fox as he spoke and shook his head to indicate he had nothing to add.

Orkis grasped his spear, his right hand towards the bottom of the shaft and his left a couple of inches in front of it. This way he could strike from a distance and hopefully keep a good space between him and his opponent.

Orkis was the first to attack. He approached fox, left foot at the front his body facing his opponent. he stopped about 4 foot away, resting lightly on the balls of his feet. It was now he would start his first attack.

The warrior was going to aim a quick thrust at Fox's torso, pull it back and strike again lower towards his legs then skip of to fox's left keeping away from the sword and keeping his distance.

Fox had to react quickly, which he did, but only just. He had enough time to jump back from the thrust to his torso, he wasn't sure how his studded leather armour would hold up against the spear, and lower his shield to block the attack aimed at his legs. He stood up after blocking and, seeing a break in his opponent's movments, pressed the small advantage he had, holding his shield to cover his torso and swinging his sword in an overhead attack towards his opponent, hoping that, if he didn't connect with the man, that he would hit the spear, he knew the latter was most likely as he would have to move in past the spear to actually hit his opponent.

Orkis' strikes were blocked, as he had predicted. Fortunately he had managed to put a little space between himself and Fox as his opponent attacked, advancing forwards with raised shield and a vicious over head blow.

The sword caught the head of his spear and Orkis had to tighten his grip to ensure it was not knocked out of his hands. He skipped to his right and aimed another blow at his opponents shield arm, hoping the constant blows against it would tire the arm.

Orkis new that the shield would make getting through tricky. Not that he wanted to hurt his opponent, only give him a sharp shock that would signal his victory of the duel.

Fox lowered his stance, narrowly blocking another attack. He moved his feet apart, as far as they would be when he was riding his horse, he then spun his foot around, bringing his right foot and sword towards Orkis, once his foot landed and his stance was strong, he brought his right foot back towards himself in a small flick, aiming for his opponents foot, in an attempt to trip him.

OOC: If you want an idea on how Fox's stance is, look up kiba dachi.
