They brought it, seryk burnt it

9th of summer

Seryk stood before the bubbling pot eating house, slightly intimidated by the bustling crowd that was already gathering in front of the house. Even though it was still very early. It was to be expected though, everybody wanted to have breakfast before they left for their own jobs. He walked inside the large building. Three large tables stood in the first large room, a number of people were already sitting down and either waiting for their food or already eating. he looked at the small line of people standing in front of a big window to another room. And judging from the smell and the clanging of pots he guessed that was the kitchen.

He made his way over there, ignoring the dirty looks from the people standing in line. A cook who was taking the ingredients of somebody looked away from his job and gave him a nasty look. “Start in the back of the line sir.” He said in an annoyed tone.

Seryk held up his hands in a disarming gesture. “I'm the new cook that was send here from the employment centre. Seryk tallgrass. I was told you guy's would know that I was coming today.”

The man gave one look at him and had to suppress a chuckle. “Tallgrass,” he let a snigger escape. “Yes we knew that you were coming. I thought you would look different though. Just come inside and I'll tell you what you're going to have to do. Rose is busy with cooking at the moment so i'll do the honors.”

Seryk gave the man an annoyed glare from the jab at his name. But let the remark slide. It was just a bad joke. He would have to work with that guy for a while afterall. He walked inside of the kitchen., the cook was waiting for him there.

“Right. Your job here is pretty simple, people bring you their rations and you cook them. But you probably already know that.” He began explaining, motioning for him to follow him. “I'll just give you the tour through the kitchen, tell you where all the utensils and spices are and then set you to work. It wasn't that big. The spice rack was located in the middle of the kitchen with all the preparation areas cluttered around it so everybody could get too it. The other cook pointed out the places were the knives and other utensils were stored. “Right, only thing left to say is how the pricing works.” He pointed towards the grandfather clock to the side. “The longer you take, the more the customer has to pay. But if you take more then 30 chimes he gets the food free. A piece of advice, since you aren't that good a cook yet. Keep your meals simple and the time you put in it short enough so that the customer doesn't feel ripped off, just fry the meat, cook the vegetables and serve it. Feel free to ask the other cooks if you don't know how to handle something. Just learn fast so you aren't a burden on everybody else will you?”

Seryk nodded. “Sure, won't be a problem. So anything else that I need to know about the job or can I start now?”

“I got nothing to say anymore, just go and start.”

“Okay, thanks for showing everything around.” He walked over to the window to take somebodies food. Exited to start his first day of work.
