This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

On the outside, Dire and Dynastic Glassworks looks like a simple stonewalled shop with nothing more than elaborately stained glass doors in the front and an oval sign post to indicate its true scope. The inside would not appear much different at first, taking function over form with non lacquered wooden floors, simple painted walls and an array of wooden or glass shelves. What awaits them inside is a surprising array of fine glass sculptures.
ImageThe main showroom is thirty-five by twenty feet in size and accommodates at least one make of almost every piece that D&D produces. The last hundred square feet in the back is a doorway and small storage space reserved for its staff. What most don't get to see is the other two thirds of the facility which contains a glass blowing facility and more storage space for delicate pieces. Only Nessala, the store's clerk, and its owner are allowed in this area, though apprentices may be as well with supervision.

Once inside, one will usually be greeted with a hearty hello by the lovely Nessala Oleander, who will then encourage patrons to look around as they please and do be weary of their surroundings. Once someone is interested in a product, Nessie will gladly go over all of the colors and kinds of glassware available for that particular piece, subtly enticing you to make a purchase of a fine item.

Dire and Dynastic Glassworks makes two types of glass so-far unique to Kenash: Kenashern and Glitter. Kenashern glass is made from local mineral sands which generate a broad range of odd earthen tones when blown, making it a signature product for Kenash. Glitter glass is simply clear glass that has carefully blended swirls of glitter dust mixed into the glass, making it sparkle in a rainbow of pleasant colors. These textures can even be cast into ornamental weapons of solid glass, which are popular with the dynasty class.

  • D&D is closed on recognized Kenashern holidays and major festivals.
  • The proprietor almost never works the shop area. What time he spends in the store is spent in the backroom facilities making glassware. If desired, Nessie will tell patrons to return a few days later while she arranges a possible appointment.
  • Glass weapons larger than Tiny might not be in stock, and thus require several days to a week to craft depending on size. (Stricken out means it's not for sale at all yet)

PoB: Kalinor
Title: Clerk
Skills: Mathematics 10, Glassworking 5, Philtering 5, Seduction 15, Persuasion 15.

Additional Info: Nessie is a sweet, youthful Symenestran girl barely in her twenties. She is a cut above the average Freeborn in terms of looks which come from her genes. Because of this, she has a knack for persuading or even seducing others, especially of the opposite sex. Nessala came to Kenash from Kalinor in search of knowledge, adventure and potential victims to glean. Instead, she stuck out like a sore thumb and nearly got in a tangle with the law. The shop's proprietor, Acteon Zulaca, spared her from imminent slavery by pretending that she came from afar to learn from him. He offered her a job clerking his glassware shop and she was in no position to decline. After a couple weeks of impressive work, she was offered a solid pay rate and decided to stay in Kenash as D&D's clerk and apprentice. Her natural charm and better grasp of mathematics makes her an essential piece to the business, enrapturing potential customers and improving sales.

The plain wooden area represents the shop showroom area and small storage closet.

The yellow wooden area is the storage room, which contains glassware in stock on sturdy shelves and fine cupboards.

The red stone area represents the glass hot shop, where the furnace and other glassworking equipment are kept.

Finally, the green tiled area is the philtering shop, where metals and sand are processed into glass dyes. There is a garage style door that lifts up to allow easy transportation of large equipment outside or let cool air in.
