Animal Husbandry Skill

I was curious if this skill could be taken in such away as to apply to . . . Humans?

Well... I don't know what terms you mean by that, but it doesn't in general. There is the 'grooming' skill, which is general body care, if that counts?

No, the facets that would be applied to this character would be the breeding and weeding out of undesirable traits.

Sorry dunno if you got a pm answering since this is a bit old. I haven't been on to read stuff lately from RL but seeing this is perked my interest. Now, breeding humans. You mean possibly breeding slaves? Something like breeding them to hold beauty or strength; or even a disfigurement that would mark their owner or breeder?

Well, animal husbandry wouldn't cover that in the least. While humans are alike with animals we can’t breed like them. Our genetic structure may seem very different to any other humans; but compared to an animal’s it’s really not. While say a fox has no problem inbreeding now and then; a human does. We have so many sicknesses and possible deadly mutations that something like a human husbandry isn't possible in a long term goal unless you had a gene pool of thousands.

Say you took two slaves and over forty generations bred them. Forgetting that something so large would get noticed from people who don’t like such a thing, after forty generations the resulting child would be close to brain dead. Humans have faults, a lot of them. Sometimes you don’t notice them because they're dormant. Say Gene A for blindness. Well it’s not active and so it’s harmless; until it comes in contact with Gene A again. Inbreeding would make this possible and aggravate it; making blindness happen 100%. While currently we have the technology to somewhat see these dormant genes and know what they might do; Mizahar does not. Not only would a lot of gold be needed and space, there simply isn’t enough people in Mizahar. You would have to inbreed and that would cause slow and suffering death just after a few generations from the lack of gene diversity.

Small term, slaves being traded between other slavers; or /borrowing/ people, might be possible for a while; but you would still run into problems. People like animals are naturally attracted to people with the largest gene difference possible through scent. No we can’t actively notice like dogs, but recent tests show that it happens without our knowledge. This prevents spreading bad genes for the most part. So I don’t see this as being possible. Mod might disagree though.
