A Funny Place to Meet a Zith (Laute)

Fighting someone a great deal taller than her was always tricky. For one thing, he had longer reach, and was easily able to keep her out of striking range. When her bite missed, she got a nose full of his fur instead, filling her head with a scent she wouldn't soon forget. Their feet seemed to be having their own private battle, both trying to scratch the other, both getting in each other's way. Scorn winced with a hissing intake of air when his claw sliced into the bottom of her foot.

She decided she did not much care to have her wrists grabbed, so she bit one of the few parts of Laute she could reach: his hand. As she sunk her teeth into his flesh, she glanced sidelong at his face. Her eyes were less hostile than they had been moments ago. Now they were almost...playful.

Then she tried a trick she would never have dared with a non-Zith. She abruptly stopped flapping, and folded her wings tight against her body. Her full weight suddenly pulled at Laute, and if he didn't compensate, they would go tumbling into the sand together.

A Funny Place to Meet a Zith (Laute)

Postby Laute on September 5th, 2013, 3:52 am

Her fangs sank into his hand, a sharp, sudden pain. Reflexively, he let go of her, scowling as he did. Laute never liked to lose, even if all that he lost was a small advantage. His hand was wet, the blood hidden in his dark fur, but like their bites, it wasn't serious.

Only his pride was injured and he wasn't going to let it stay that way for long.

He almost let out a growl when he noticed the change in her body language. The anger was gone, and her expression wasn't as tight, as fierce as before. Something else shined in her eyes, but Laute hadn't seen another Zith in almost a year.

He wasn't sure what that meant, what the change in her scent meant. His brother had--

and he wasn't thinking of his brother tonight. His own anger had all but dissipated by now and while he remembered the threat to Aditi, it no longer seemed serious. The competition was more important, the urge to win this battle for dominance. Still wary, he started to lean forward when her wings suddenly snapped shut.

His limbs still entangled in hers, she was pulling him down with her. Shocked, they tumbled through the air for a few hazardous seconds. The night sky merged with the dark forest and soft sand before he furiously beat his wings in an attempt to remain aloft.

Still mixed up, they didn't do much good in his downward position, and he moved his right wing a bit, trying to turn himself over as he flapped his left wing more and used his right to steer. It pushed their bodies upward slowly. He tried to position their bodies better, to ease up their angle of descent. It would be easy to let her go, to just adjust his own body, but that was too much like letting her win. Keeping his grip on her, he used his weight to push forward.

Grunting, he was almost drenched with sweat at the effort it took to at least straighten his position enough that his wings could keep them afloat. His wings ached from the attempt, his breathing laboured, and he gave her a fanged smile at his success.

A Funny Place to Meet a Zith (Laute)

Scorn grinned slyly as they went down. She grabbed for any of his limbs she could reach, waiting eagerly to see whether he would be able to pull them up in time. His struggle offered a brief respite from the biting and scratching, and for a moment, she was free to observe him. She was sufficiently impressed by the strength of his flying, not to mention his unwillingness to let her go.

Upon seeing his smile, she felt no need to hold back, so she pulled herself up and slammed her mouth against his. She wrapped an arm around his back, holding on with her claws so that he wouldn't get away from her.

Instinct had almost completely taken over, but she had the presence of mind to unfurl her wings. She didn't want to crash now after all, and if he were busy trying to keep both of them aloft, Laute wouldn't be able to focus on more interesting things...

Laute almost pushed away in surprise at the hot mouth covering his. Almost, but her claws dug into his back and he was pulled closer instead.

This was unexpected.

Unexpected, but not entirely unwelcome. He was of age now, after all, an adult, and even if he hadn't realized what this implied before, he was finding out now. He had left his colony before he could come to terms with the changes in his body and this...

This was something different. This was something new. His senses felt on fire, heightened and sharper than before. The scent on her sweat was all encompassing, her touches electric, and a base instinct that had lay waiting for years responded. He had seen the mating dances as child, not quite comprehending, not quite caring.

And now he was responding by instinct. Following his desires, he pulled her closer, crushing her mouth. His claws still scratched her back, but more carefully now. The randomness of his movements was gone, and it was an experiment to see what made her react more.

Pulling his head from hers, he bent his head near her throat, his fangs grazing the sensitive skin there. There would be more blood drawn before this was done, but not like before.

This was primordial and he rumbled in pleasure.

A Funny Place to Meet a Zith (Laute)

Postby Scorn on September 10th, 2013, 11:06 pm

OOCI did not want to go into much detail here. I hope my transition is not too abrupt x.x

In her recent travels, Scorn had not really thought about how long it had been since she'd done this, but now that it was happened, she realized it had been too long. As she embraced Laute and the emotions he brought to her, the adrenaline fueled her wings, and she brought them higher and higher into the air.

~*~

Their coupling ended with Scorn's arms wrapped tightly around Laute, pressing their bodies together. With a contented sigh, she relaxed against him, adjusting her wings so that they could glide gently back to the earth. She nuzzled his neck, any trace of violence gone, consumed by their passion.

She knew that she wanted this man to join her colony, and not just because her colony currently consisted of three Zith in total. But that would require convincing him to stay in Kalinor, and if she didn't even like it there, she couldn't imagine he'd jump at the chance to move in with a bunch of un-hunt-able prey. No, it was going to take something convincing to make him stay. She would have to prove to him that it would be worth it. But how?

Abruptly, she felt pangs in her stomach. She had not eaten yet tonight, and she had just used up a lot of energy. She found her gaze drifting to Laute's slave. It was the closes source of meat for miles, and so vulnerable! It would be so easy...

But if she went after the slave, Scorn had no doubt that Laute would leave with no hesitation. That wasn't what she wanted. Though, if she decided to show off her hunting skills, she could impress Laute and eat. It was such a perfect idea she wondered why she hadn't thought of it sooner.

"I hunger. Let us hunt," she purred.

A Funny Place to Meet a Zith (Laute)

Laute felt warm, covered in a layer of light sweat. It mingled with hers, their scents mixing together as they lowered to the soft, sandy ground. It wasn't entirely unpleasant, though a part of him flinched from having her scent all over him. Possession, it felt entirely like possession, and it had been a long time since he had belonged to anyone. The only solace was his scent hung heavily on her as well.

There was a turmoil in him, a wave of conflicting emotions. The anger, the desire, it all left him as he lightly panted. His bones, his muscles, they stopped burning with a fever and all that was left was a soft coolness. Within him, there was nothing, the feelings seeping out of his skin with each bead of sweat. It had been a long time since he had felt like this, void of everything.

Scorn was watching him, and he wasn't sure what she expected. There was no colony here, no rules in place. Was she expecting a mate? Was she expecting nothing, just a relief from being alone? The questions crowded his head, threatening the calm he had just gained. Above him the moon hung high in the sky and he could deal with the aftermath of his actions tomorrow.

As they landed, he felt himself detaching from Scorn. His feet sinking into the soft sands, he looked down at the small cuts and bruises that littered his skin. That littered her skin. The aftermath of a battle of pride. Of passion. There was a reason most Ziths didn't pick a human as a mate and listening to Aditi as she shifted the sand with her hands, he couldn't understand why his brother did. She was fragile, he could hear it in the shifting of her bones as her hands picked piles of sand, transplanting them around her. Aditi would never have lasted mating.

No matter. He could feel a hunger grow in him, a reminder of his earlier plans to hunt. Scorn purred to him, a voice that dragged his attention back, and he nodded.

Hunting with a Zith again. It seemed tonight he was receiving a lot of surprises. Earlier he had heard several deer in the woods, a mountain lion, an elk. More than enough for the two of them.

"Yes," he responded, arching his back to remove the crink in his bones. "I noticed a mountain lion, earlier."

A Funny Place to Meet a Zith (Laute)

Scorn reluctantly let go of the other Zith, as they landed. She missed his warmth immediately, but her stomach was just barely a stronger motivation. She perked up when he mentioned the mountain lion. Predators were always more fun. There was just something about taking something that wasn't used to being prey, and making it prey. It made Scorn feel powerful.

Though as his heat faded and they took to the air, a familiar sense of competition welled up in its place. She tried to quickly find their prey, but Laute already knew where it was, so of course he would know which direction to go before she did. Slightly put off, she followed him nevertheless, keeping only slightly behind him and to the side, so that as soon as she picked up the scent she could show her stuff.

As they flew she had time to observe her new friend. She had been so thrilled to see another Zith that she hadn't bothered to be curious about him until now. But she was curious. What had led him to leave his colony? Why was he so fiercely protective of his slave? Well, now that Scorn thought about it, she supposed it was bad form to threaten his property. It would be like stealing a kill, sort of. But she didn't know it was his! So it was completely not her fault at all. Not that it mattered, because it all worked out.

Before too long, Scorn picked up on the predatory heartbeat of the cougar, and its scent. Flapping her now mostly-dry wings, she pulled ahead of Laute and tilted, going into a dive. Smart enough not to give the cougar a chance to retaliate, she swooped in and raked her claws across its back, flying past and back up into the sky before the now angry animal could do more than snarl with rage.

A Funny Place to Meet a Zith (Laute)

The cougar was northwest of their location. He took point, after taking a backward glance at Aditi. There were no predators near her and she was still within earshot of the cougar. Safe enough. She knew enough to climb a tree and call for him should anything happen--few predators were able to follow then.

He turned his attention back to his companion, relishing in the aerial companionship. There was a slight irritation in her, no Zith liked to follow after all. Laute hid a grin, reminded of his own hunts with his brother. Nimis had always been quicker on the uptake.

After a few minutes of flying, Laute could tell Scorn had caught onto the scent herself. There was a competitive edge to her movements, an aggression that showed as she dived after the big cat. Laute let out a soft bark before following. She might have gotten the first strike, but he'd be a newborn cub if he let her finish it without a blow of his own.

The wild cat was hissing up after Scorn's attack, hurt and angry. It didn't know enough yet to be afraid, so high up the food chain it was. There were no predators for it, aside from the Symenestra that lived here. Laute screeched, low and threatening as he dive-bombed the cat himself, his claws grazing its head as it twirled to meet him. Its jaws snapped up, and Laute swerved to the right as it tried to paw at him. His claws had dug a shallow wound into its head, blood flowing down the right side of its face, almost blinding one eye. Pulling up, he contemplated diving again before looking at Scorn. Her move.

Scorn watched Laute's maneuver critically, and found it acceptable. She took her time circling the cat, leisurely picking out her next move while to thing bled and searched the skies for its attackers. She saw the blood dripping into its eye and grinned as a wave of anticipation hit her. It was a good opening. Adjusting her trajectory, she came at the cat from its right side.

She held her claws forward and latched onto its next just before it figured out where she was coming from. It turned and flailed, trying to shake her off, but it was too late. She already had her claws deep in its neck, and the more it tried to struggle, the more damage it did as Scorn tore up its flesh.

With the bloody mess now at her fingertips and the cougar's movements slowing down, Scorn considered the battle already won. This turned out to be a slight miscalculation. As Scorn bent her face to the gory mess, the cougar rolled over, pinning the Zith girl under its body.

A Funny Place to Meet a Zith (Laute)

Laute's fur rose slightly at Scorn's attack, and he growled. What had been a courtesy before, his elation over hunting with a Zith once more, would not be done again. He had not expected her to attempt a killing strike so soon. At the very least she hadn't succeeded, leaving him a chance to make the final blow.

And it would be almost too easy. The cat had rolled over onto Scorn, leaving its vulnerable belly open to attacks. In its rage, it had forgotten there were two attackers, not one. Laute attacked before it had a chance to compensate, digging his claws into the soft flesh. The neck was too small a target to latch on now, not with Scorn still pressed under its mass and her own claws hooked there.

Of course, this position left him dangerously close to its claws and fangs. He pulled his claws through its flesh as much as he could, the wound opening bigger and bigger as he did so. The cat was already kicking at him, its claws adding to the wounds from the mating. Laute kept his wings pulled in behind him, not eager to risk any damage from the cat's violent throes. His chest caught the brunt of the attacks, and he hissed as he dug his claws in deeper.

All that was left to worry about was the fangs, and as long as Scorn held on, the danger was minimal.

Provided she could hold on--the blow might have loosened her grip. Laute grunted as the cat struggled to turn and pin him down. Though he had hoped otherwise, it was up to Scorn to finish off the cat.
