It was another cold morning for the mountain dwellers, and even Syna's grand light gave little comfort against the weather. Her light did guide the way for the hunters and Endal who were out for the morning catch. Alori and Durveth were two of those, going out at the break of dawn hoping to get an advantage on the creatures before they went into hiding again. The winds were cold for so high up, and with the speed that the wind eagle traveled it was even colder.
The teen Endal was covered in furs, leaving no part of her body uncovered save for her hands. The archer glove provided minimum warmth and her fingers were still being chilled to the bones. Hazel eyes peered out and around her, but saw nothing but trees and darting shadows beneath. They had been tracking two elk but at someone point that had been given up when something even bigger caught their attention.
Durveth had spotted a bear, a large male that was out for his onw meal. It was a much bigger meal than two elk, and Alori knew that there would be plenty left for the kitchens, and the fur could make a coat or a rug. Durveth soared lower, large eagle eyes following the trail of the bear. It was on the hunt, but it's movements were slow. It was possible that the bear was tracking the same elk they had been, but the animals were too far ahead to either to tell.
I think it stopped. Can you go lower? Alori said, speaking into the eagle's mind.
The forest is too thick here, I don't have anywhere to land. We'll have to wait until it roams into the clearing before we can go down here.
Petch, that could take forever, what if it decides to take a nap? What then Durveth?
Alori was never the patience sort, and as much as she worked on that flaw, the teen had only gotten slightly better than she was before. Sighing, she leaned forward and rested her arms on the back of the wind eagle while she soared in a full circle over head...and waited.
