Taylani asked about his plan, but then immediately instructed him about his stew. He was surprised when she said that it would last more than a day, although it wouldn't be done until tomorrow morning. Well, next time he wanted to cook dinner, he'd have to think a little bit farther ahead, apparently. Then, without any apparent transition, the captive asked about his plan again. He didn't plan on saying anything, but was a little surprised to find himself talking. "Well, normally plans wouldn't interfere with family, but in this case, they kind of do. I need to travel across, well, possibly all of Mizahar. If I joined a pavilion, that would mean I would be leaving behind a family--they would be tied to me and so to them. I can't do that to anyone else. I think I can handle myself here, so I don't need a pavilion. It would almost be selfish to drag anyone else into my plan." He was trying to explain it without actually detailing the plan. Perhaps it was rediculous, and it certainly couldn't be easy or someone else would have done it. All the same, he needed to do it. Then he looked to her, suddenly realizing something. "But wait, you've been..." he tried to figure out how to say what he meant, "...you know, other places. Other cities. Where are you from? What's...it like there?" He realized it was going to be difficult to ask about magical learnig facilities without mentioning magic. He left it there, hoping maybe if the conversation progressed he could figure it out.

Granted Taylani had only spent a season with the Drykas, most of that was unwilling and forced, but in that season she had gotten to know much about the culture and this man was the oddest Drykas yet. All the other Drykas was all about Drykas first, Family First, Clan First and self last. It was all about the family and the clan, all about the culture. This man seemed to remain an island in a setting where its all about community.

He reminded her more of how she was raised in Syliras then how the Drykas were with each other. She was slowly starting to see how bad that really was, to be all about the self and the plans for the self. She had big plans before her capture, she had excluded all learning to learn only what she had wanted to learn. Now she was faced with life trying to find skills that these people knew from childhood..and she was realizing just how selfish her life before the Drykas had been. All about her, and not about anyone else.

"I was born in Syliras." She said clippedly, not because she found his question to be rude, but simply because she had decided when she chose to stay with Fallan she chose to put that life to the grave. " I was not well traveled..the Drykas found me right outside of the city gates ..well not right outside or the guards would have ..." She stopped, looked away from him for a long moment, her throat working to swallow the lump that speaking of that day caused to rise. "Anyway, I haven't really been too many places. Though I hope that in the spring Fallan will take me to Riverfall. I have never been there and I heard that Endrykas will be close."
