Sculpture Yard

Every city has there artistic meeting place. For Avanthal it is the sculpture yard. The sculpture yard is a small park of sorts surrounded by a grove of ever green trees that is full of sculptures of every kind. Theses sculptures are made from almost any material one can imagine. Theses are sculptures mostly made from stone, snow, and ice but other materials have been known to be used. The sculptures are all over the yard and are in many different shapes. There are many bears and other northern wildlife that are the subjects of the artists that are chosen to display their art in the yard. In the center of the yard is a beautiful gazebo made of icestone. Around the inside of the gazebo there are stone benches so visitors can have a place to sit where they can see the whole yard.

If one ventures to the back of the yard they will find a small gated section with a life size sculpture of Morwen created by one of the first leaders of the Skyglow hold, Pavic Skyglow. He was said to have been the best artist that Avanthal had ever known. Surrounding Morwen's sculpture are sculptures of all the past leaders of Icewatch. Many people come to visit this area when Morwen is traveling throughout Mizahar during the winter. Pavic's sculpture is a very good representation of the goddess and it brings comfort to her followers when she is absent.

It is a very high honor for an artist to have their art accepted to the Sculpture yard. Although it is not the highest honor an artist can have. The very best art resides in Morwen's palace. Many artists spend their free time in the yard. They frequent the sculpture yard in hopes of learning from past artists and meeting other like minded people. When ever a work of art is accepted into the Sculpture Yard there is a great ceremony in honor of the artist. All people of Avanthal attend even Morwen and for that reason alone it is almost every Skyglow member's dream to have their art accepted into the yard.

During the djed storm of Spring, 512 most of the sculptures in the Yard were destroyed. The citizens of Avanthal had been slowly rebuilding and restoring the Sculpture Yard to its former glory. Much was done to save the statue of Morwen. As of Summer 513 AV, renovations on the winter goddess' statue were finally finished. All other sculptures were either fully restored or completely replaced by Skyglow Hold.

PC Sculpture Additions :
Ilhor Skyglow added the Hope Sculpture Summer 15, 512 -
Before him stood two human hands, young and elegant, most probably a woman’s. Their palms were open, and resting on them was a small plate on which was carved a small, perfect, glowing snowflake. One of the hands had its fingers extending outwards, inviting the viewer to take the snowflake, requesting nothing of him, but to reach. But the other hand had its fingers ever so slightly cuddled inwards, like ready to close around the snowflake in an instant, for those unworthy to take it.

When I was just a kitten,
They said I'd be a gem.
But now that I'm a Cheshire Cat,
It's odd how odd I am...
