ELSU
38 winter, 513 av
Elsu was a bit of a very large idiot. After all, who in their right mind would want to train with someone who was several times his skill level and unlikely to hold back? The answer was simple. Someone who was reckless. Reckless and willing to get his behind handed to him along with a collection of bruises he would probably have for at least a week. Or so it would be if he was sparring in unarmed combat. The Kelvic felt as though he had done enough unarmed sparring in the recent days, however, and so today he would be armed.

Armed with daggers. Against a longsword and shield, they probably wouldn't be able to do much. But he could at least try, and work on his avoidance of sharp, potentially deadly objects while he was at it. Ignoring his weapons for the time being, Elsu took a few moments to stretch, relaxing his muscles and loosening his stance. Content now with his flexibility, the Kelvic took out a dagger from it's sheath and proceeded to practice stabs.

Right foot lunge, extend hand down, twist to side. Elsu formed a quick rhythm of threes, a waltz of sorts. Right high, right low, left high, left low, and repeat, dagger in right hand. Then switch to left hand, same movements. Back to right, reverse grip, then to left, reverse grip. The dark haired youth quickly switched hands and repeated the exercise over again, thrusting into an imaginary enemy. He stopped after a moment, content with his warmup, letting his warm breath cloud the chilled air. Dark eyes searched the pit and his body followed soon afters, dagger grasped loosely in his hand and he trotted over to Kreig.

The man was shorter than him by a few inches, but was more muscular and generally more experienced in life. Two years were enough for the Kelvic to appear as though he was in his late teens, but two years were only two years, and didn't count for much otherwise. Whatever. Hopefully Elsu would manage to be quick enough on his feet to avoid the bite of that sword, although getting close enough to harm his opponent? That was going to be a different story altogether. Looked like he was going to get plenty of training in defense.

A grin stretched across his face as he tapped on the squire's shoulder with his free hand, body tapping his foot against the ground impatiently. "Wanna fight?"

'Damn cold' Kreig thought as he swung the blunt longsword, hid fingers firmly wrapped around the grip of the sword. HIs other hand gripping the handle of a round shield, its feel more alien compared to that of the long blade but he was trying to familiarize himself, slowly but surely he was. He always felt like he was lagging behind, he truly didn't mean for that but then it just happens. He swung the blunt blade through the air in a practiced drill, he swung it down then slammed forward with his shield and finally slashed the blade upwards. Then repeated...and repeated....and repeated......quite frankly it was getting a tad annoying.

Then came the lad, his voice interrupting his drills, Kreig was secretly grateful for that as he turned and looked at him. The lad was surprisingly tall, the only reason he assumed him to be a youth was the face.... his birdlike face looked quite young. At this point, Kreig had met far too many tall people to give a damn anymore, its lost its charm honestly. The only difference the lad had was that he was thin, quite so ' Does he eat enough? Kreig wondered as he lowered his blade.... then the lad's words finally registered and Kreig let out a feral grin.

Oh he did love a good fight; it was the fuel to his existence. He looked over the young man once more and noted the daggers.....the lad's weapon of choice quite obviously. How skilled was he with them? Was he so skilled that his confidence to fight a man with a sword and shield was justified? Or was he just an overconfident fool, a blumbering idiot thinking he could take Kreig on without trouble? He didn't know the answers to that; all Kreig knew was that he had someone to fight.

"Ay lad, I want a fight. But first, I'm I allowed the pleasantries of yer name? Mine is Kreig" He said to him, then motioned for the lad to take up a battle position as Kreig immediately took his own. The shield raised in front of his form and his sword ready to strike at a moment's notice .

ELSU
Kreig. The name sounded vaguely familiar, but then again, most names did. So no use dwelling on placing him, introductions were more important. "Name is Elsu. Nice to meet 'cha," He responded with a head tilt and a grin. Socializing was nice. Talking was nice. Fighting was sometimes nice. It was already shaping up to be a great day. Maybe even a new friend? Eh, that depended on how the fight went.

Eying the longsword and shield, Elsu's gaze flicked up to Kreig's face and then admired his stance for a moment. Bouncing on the balls of his feet, Elsu took a step back and then settled into a fighting stance, weight positioned in the center of his body and joints relaxed. He opened his mouth to speak, closed it, then opened it again with a loopy smile. "Just saying, I'm pretty terrible at fighting. So maybe not killing me would be appreciated, yeah?" A glance up to Kreig's face before his eyes fell on the man's torso. All movements originated from there, it would be easier to predict what the squire would do next by watching his center.

Kreig seemed to be expecting Elsu to strike first, so the Kelvic obliged with a quick step forwards, dagger extending in front of him towards his sparring partner's right thigh. Following through with the movement, he continued forwards, bringing the dagger up to strike at the man's face before stepping back, circling behind.

"I can try and promise that lad, but lets be reasonable.... all who fight should expect death, lest it bites you in the arse" Kreig snickered as he looked at the gent, he seemed to realize some things about fighting at least. The man wielded a dagger where Kreig had a long sword and shield... anyone could tell you that the advantage was in Kreig's favor. He had reach and defense while his opponent simply had the benefit of speed..... but depending on his skill the lad could perhaps be able to one up Kreig, if he could find an opening and had the precision along with his speed he could disable his movement or stab him in his vitals.

Kreig noted that the key for that to happen was for the lad to watch his movements like a hawk, indeed to predict one's movements is to also estimate where the next opening could be. Kreig knew that well enough as Elsu stabbed forward with his blade, dagger aimed at Kreig's thigh. Kreig turned to the right and stepped back, letting the attack miss him while simutaniously raising his shield, letting Elsu's follow up attack scratch upward at his shield ' Problem for you lad, is that I can see your movement's better' As if to make his point he quickly pushed his shield forward, attempting to violently put the lad off balance. He would then follow up with a horizontal sword strike from right to left and quickly step forward and shoulder bash the lad.

' Make this fun for me' Kreig's eyes would tell the lad, a mix of a glare and hunger, Kreig was having little fun... he wanted more resistance of the lad and he hoped he could bring that to the table, lest he might not walk away with his dignity intact.

ELSU
"I'm not sure I've lived long enough to die, yet," the Kelvic responded, tone and expression serious. "Two's a bit young, yeah?" He nodded to himself, as though sagely confirming his utterances. With his gawky frame and young face, it looked outright ridiculous. A comical frown settled upon his features as he added, "Gettin' killed in a practice fight isn't really the way I'd like to go." Sacrificing himself for his bondmate was more of the plan. Once he had a bondmate to sacrifice himself for.

The shield pushing him backwards was to be expected. Only one who was just learning how to use a shield wouldn't push back when a weapon was connected to it. That didn't mean Elsu had prepared himself for it — thinking while fighting was something he needed to work on. That's what made drills so easy and battles so difficult. Still, Elsu hadn't struck hard enough with his dagger that it was anywhere near lodged in his opponent's shield, and as it pushed back towards him, Elsu used the added momentum to lunge backwards, balanced and posed to strike.

Attempting to block the strike would be futile. The lad may be taller than his attacker, but Kreig was obviously stronger than he. Another step back, back slightly arched, avoided both the sword and the shoulder bash that followed. At this rate, the whole fight would be spent with Kreig pushing Elsu backwards, attacking and leaving Elsu to attempt to come up with a way to strike back. His dagger chased after the arm holding the sword, following the movement with his body to get closer to his opponent. Although the longsword had a longer reach, in particularly close situations it wouldn't have much practical use.

'Another Kelvic' Kreig thought, he's met them so often now that he was unfazed by such revelations. It did make him wonder which animal though. The lad was indeed spry however, dodging his blows and attempted to counter with a stab at Kreig's arm. In close quarters his longsword would be very much useless, he couldn't stab nor swing with it....he could do so little. But what Kreig knew and what Elsu didnts was that Kreig spent nearly two decades fighting up close and personal. HIs skill with the longsword and shield was indeed lacking, but in other areas...he knew just how to deal with this dagger wielding kelvic

He knocked Elsy's wrist away with the outside of his arm,, his sword held in a reverse grip he moved closer and pressed the blade against elsu's shoulder, with a tug upwards he preformed a draw cut... if the blade were sharp he's be bleeding and found his arm quite useless "I beleive this battle goes to me" Kreig grinned as he looked the Kelvic straight in the eyes "Care to go again?" Kreig offered, his blood lust was far from sated. He needed more and more fights, else he'd feel like a lover who didn't quite get that satisfaction after a bout of lovemaking with his partner.

He'd go all out against the lad, that was a certainty. Where he lacked with his weapons and he make up purely in other aspects, he would be sure to show the Kelvic that and maybe offer how to teach him how to fist fight....for a price of course.
