Saffron Aldwynn Appearance Race: Kelvic (Ocelot) Gender: Female Age: 12 Kelvic Years (Roughly 4.8 Human /years) Birthday: 11, Spring, 509 Birthplace: Riverfall Appearance: Saffron is a small, thin, generally unnoticed, Kelvic. She has long, tousled golden hair that hangs to her shoulder blades. Saffron leaves her hair down for much of the time, so it becomes tangled and matted. She has delicate features: a small pointed nose, a careful mouth, and thin eyebrows. She has pale but not sickly skin with a spattering of light brown freckles on her shoulders. Saffron’s eyes are a hazel of rusty orange, dark green and gray-blue. Her limbs are not heavily muscled, but not unnaturally thin either. Her chest and hips give her no curves at all, but she has small hands and feet. She looks almost fragile, but the determination in her eyes gives her a hint of toughness. Her clothes, though dirty, make her seem a little fierce. Character Concept Saffron is fragile and seeks being alone rather than talk to others. At a social event, she will normally slip into a corner and stay there, unnoticed until someone notes her absence. She is elusive and fleet and spry; none her age can outrun her easily. Startled easily by nature, she prefers softer speaking volumes and a neutral environment. She is kind, but awkward and clumsy in conversation. Clever and quite a creative thinker, Saffron is also very intelligent. She was educated in the basic fields of mathematics, history, science and language arts, and also learned a few lores of nature, and was taught how to hunt and stay hidden. Saffron is graceful with her hands, and is delicate with her tasks. Her smile, though rare, is sweet enough, if the emotion is true. Character History Saffron’s mother, Lorel, was also an ocelot Kelvic, but her father, Argo, was a sun-bear Kelvic (a strange combination, for the ocelot is arcane and the bear outgoing). Lorel found a bondmate, Celduin, while in gestation with Saffron, and, driven by the urge to stay near the bonded, left Argo behind in Syliras to travel to Riverfall with Celduin, who was a ship-owner and decided to live in Riverfall for its closeness to the sea and beauty. It was also a good location for Saffron and Lorel, for Celduin was able to buy a large estate with sufficient foresting for their ocelot forms. They lived happily for a time, living off of the money the ship-owner made from sending his ships to Suvan Sea and back, doing trade. However, when Saffron was about half a year old, pirates attacked the trader’s main fleet and the business started spiraling downhill. One season passed, and the ship-owner knew he wouldn't be able to sustain his family. Knowing that he wouldn't have the money to travel to another home with the entire family, Celduin left Saffron in Riverfall to live under the watch of one of his ship-owning friends, Cyrus. Celduin continued on to distant lands in Mirzahar, never having afterthought on Lorel's daughter, whom he left behind. Cyrus raised Saffron with utmost care, but did not love the Kelvic. He promised Celduin he would raise Saffron until he saw she needed no further protection. Furthermore, instead of sending Saffron off to normal school, Cyrus decided to let his leopard Kelvic, Mae, privately tutor her on the basic studies and using her dagger. On Saffron’s twelfth birthday, Cyrus deemed her ready to survive on her own and cast her out, giving her supplies for travel.
