Sinoa

30th day of Winter, 513 AV (morning)

Sinoa awoke from his bed in his dorm room feeling a bit stiff and arid, the layers of blankets covering his tiny bed didn't offer enough concealment form the frigid cold of the night. The Pycon eased out of bed and put on this lavender coloured dress and black felt robe to warm himself up. Unfortunately these articles of clothing did little for his horns and many finger tips as they still felt brittle and frozen. Sinoa had been having a clay tea every morning during the winter that helped rejuvenate him for the day ahead, until the Pycon had this tea he wasn't the same. The joyful hops that Sinoa usually did as he went down the stairs were absent, the Pycon instead cautiously eased himself down each step for irrational fear of shattering. He lumbered down the University hallways, talking little notice of the many tall folk that nearly trampled him. When Sinoa entered the cafeteria one of the cooks noticed the Pycon right away and knew what he needed
"We'll get you your tea little one, you just sit tight" The cook said with a pleasant smile as they went to retrieve the beverage.
"Thank... you.." Sinoa replied weakly with an oddly crackling to his voice.

Sinoa clumsily climbed onto one of the tall chairs present and then went limp like the doll that Sinoa was so often mistaken for. The Pycon waited for his salvation to arrive, he had done so many times but he always felt as though he would turn to dust before it arrived. The cook finally came with a generously sized mug and set it on the chair next to Sinoa.
"Okay, drink up little fellar" Said the Cook
Sinoa wasted little time and placed one of his four thick lower arm like legs into the cup. The warm liquid was absorbed into this appendage and breathed life into the rest of Sinoa's body. While Sinoa's face hadn't changed at all, the Pycon felt great relief. In a matter of moments all the water had been drained from cup into Sinoa, and subtle bits of steam could be seen emanating off the pycon. Sinoa looked up at the cook and generously thanked them before leaping off the chair and scurrying off to greet the day with the new found energy he had acquired.

Sinoa decided to head to the World Ends Grotto to see if there was any new performers that he could learn from. Sinoa waited by a door for a tall folk to open it, and when they did Sinoa rushed out into the freezing outdoors. The Chilling wind hit him and despite the tea he ingested, Sinoa felt very cold. To combat the cold Sinoa made sure to keep moving through dance. Sinoa pranced, leaped and twirled through the streets towards his destination. The lace frills on his dress beautifully swayed as Pycon clumsily flailed in public in a desperate attempt to keep his limbs warm. Sinoa arrived at Worlds End and upon entering saw that it wasn't buzzing with people as it usually was. A little disappointed but not without hope, Sinoa decided he would take his act outside to attract more customers.

Sinoa found an empty upright barrel sitting right outside the front of entrance, this would be his stage. Sinoa climbed on top and continued his energetic but sporadic dance.

Dancing the Cold Away (Kalina) [Job thread]

Postby Kalina on February 14th, 2014, 10:20 pm

For the most part, Kalina had done her best to avoid the busy areas of the city. She was somewhat confused by what defined the areas that her Master, Marcus had told her to avoid, and she was keen not to incur his wrath and be directly, obviously disobedient towards him. But Marcus, Amelia and Clyde were often busy with... whatever they were doing, and they had little time for the little ocelot's antics. But it had finally been pointed out the Kelvic child which areas she was allowed to explore, as long as she wasn't out too late or for too long. Taking the opportunity, Kalina found herself wandering through the World's End Grotto.

In her ocelot form, the grey ocelot was garnering a fair few glances, but she had never been unnerved by the staring, having always known that the more attention she received, the more playmates she might find. It had been the same in the lake-city, and she wondered if this place had a home for Kelvics too, like where Marcus had bought her from. Zeltiva was similar in that it had a big-water, so it followed that there would be other similarities with Kali's home.

The Grotto was a fascinating place, the small predator found. There was little for her to hunt by way of rodents, but she imagined that that was because it was too busy, with all the people moving around - they were probably hiding for the day, and would come out at night. Kalina could smell them, however, having learnt the scent (and taste) of rats during her travel to Nyka, and so she knew that there were some around the city. But their scent was somewhat masked by the curious, exotic aromas that were invading her nostrils from the many stalls and shops all around her. A few of them she approached; some of the smells she could just jot ignore, and she needed to know more. But, as she approached the stalls, the was quickly shooed away busy the humans. Only at a few of the, did she approach quietly enough, remaining relatively hidden within the sheer amount of people, to get close enough for a proper look at what was at the stalls.

She watched people exchanging those small pieces of round metal for the items on display, just like her Master had showed her happened in order to get anything. The concept was still a partial mystery to her, but it was beginning to make a little bit more sense, as she observed the transaction happening more and more.

Continuing on, she noticed a small, oddly chased figure moving in a bizarre way on a barrel. Pausing in the middle of the walkway, Kalina sat down and tilted here head to the side, her tail was close to her body lest people stood on it, but the end was flicking occasionally in relative confusion. "
Not human... not kelvic..." was all Kalina could think. It was like no animal she had ever seen before, not any human. And the smell was something new too, akin to... buildings, though again not as such. She stared. Just... stared.

Sinoa

The rapid movements Sinoa was making were doing a decent job of keeping the cold at bay. The tea he had drank was still working and it was lucky that the World ends grotto building was deflecting almost all of the chilling wind. With the cold not being as big an issue as sinoa had thought the Pycon could surely last in the outdoors for a while before his ligaments became tired. Although to Sinoa's disappointment his dancing while attracting many glances was not getting any of them to attract customers for the World Ends Grotto. Sinoa did however notice a certain feline who seemed to be watching his performance.

At first Sinoa was startled when he noticed the creatures presence, but then remembered the girl he had meet last season who could switch between tall folk and animal folk forms with relative ease. Kelvic's they were called, or at least Sinoa was pretty sure that's what they were called. He was only just getting to learn how to distinguish them from other tall folk but had no idea how to differentiate them when in animal folk form. Sinoa stopped his dancing and inspected the feline, if he were any other sentient race his eyes would be narrowed but his face remained devoid of expression. The way the creature tilted it's head reminded Sinoa of the other kelvic he met, but he still wasn't sure, so he decided he might as well just ask.

"excuse me, are you a Kelvic?" Sinoa asked with a surprisingly deep voice for someone so small. "if you are, would you please nod your head" Sinoa added after remembering the other kelvics inability to talk while in animal form.
Sinoa forced himself to make a smile in hopes that it would make the creature feel more welcome but his face ended up looking more like a strange twisted contortion than a smile.

The grey ocelot's eyes began to dilate as she watched the small thing jerking about. She didn't know what it was and she was desperate to know. It wasn't human, it wasn't kelvic, it did t have wings, like that woman from Ravok. And though all creatures did not vary too much for her in colour when she was in this form, this... dancing... thing in front her seemed more monotonous in shade than usual. Many were just walking past the dancer with nothing more than a fleeting glance, as if they were not surprised by it, and Kalina wondered whether that indicated the frequency of its appearances. "
Or maybe it never moves. Maybe it's stuck there..." But that didn't explain why, or especially how, the creature could move. " Something made it move." Though ignorant of many things in the world, such as magic, she had noticed some things about Clyde on their travels, things that were different compared to her Master. For the ignorant Kelvic, there was nothing in her world that could not be reality, nothing that was particularly peculiar, and she was passively aware of how little she knew.

Other people, however, were also stopping and watching the movements in front on the raised platform. They were, for the most part, smiling. She knew that expression: it represented happiness and such things... people didn't smile enough. "
This is... good?" But the creature stopped dancing, and stared right back at her. "Did it break?" she wondered as her she cocked her head the other way and continued to stare.

Then it spoke to her. This small, grey creature continued to surprise her and dumbly, the Kelvic nodded without thinking. Glancing around, Kalina noticed that others were carrying on with their business, not paying attention to the interaction and, deciding to know more, rose to her feet again and trotted over to where the the talking, dancing grey creature stood. Once there, she pushed herself up on her hind legs and rested her wide paws on the curved edge of the barrel. Soon to be fully grown, Kalina, in this position, was at about one foot, maybe a few inches more, and, though she was at an angle. It was easy for her to rest her jaw on the top edge of the barrel. Moss green eyes stared at the creature and, now that it was standing still, she could see it properly. With six human arms, four or which he was standing on, Kali wondered what was wrong with him.

Her irises were still dilated; she wasn't particularly struck on the smell the creature was giving off, despite it being approximately rat-sized, but she wanted to know more. Her movements were fast, as she angled her head to the side so as to open her jaw and grab the creature.

Sinoa

The feline shook their head in response to Sinoa's question, which made Sinoa a little proud but also relieved that his suspicions were right . Maybe the tall folk weren't as complicated as Sinoa had previously thought, they seem to follow fairly simple rules on appearance at least. Sinoa wanted to talk to the kelvic and learn more about them, maybe see if they knew the other kelvic he had meet in Zeltiva but remembered again that they couldn't talk. Sinoa decided to keep dancing for the Creature since that was what Sinoa assumed was its intention. Now that the attention was on him, even if it was only one kelvic, Sinoa needed to step up his game. Sinoa started wiggling his arms like an earth worm caught above ground, bending the appendages in a way only a creature without bones could. Writhing around like he was possessed, and waving back and forth with the music playing in his head.

Sinoa was so preoccupied with his dancing that he hadn't been paying attention to what the kelvic was doing. Before Sinoa could react the pycons torso felt warm and wet with jacked edges poking into his clay flesh. This was a place Sinoa had been before and knew all to well where he was immediately. "Get Me out of your Mouth" Sinoa commanded as he tried to contort his body free. He split himself in half allowing both halves to fall out of the creatures mouth and back to the barrel. With only the function of his upper half sinoa walked back on his skinny upper arms and started to devour his other half to replenish what he had lost.
"If you wanted to play you should have just asked" Sinoa said as he stuffed clay into his his newly formed mouth hole that took up most of what should have been his chest. " if you give me a head start you can chase me, just let me finish eating this first."

The creature spoke again and Kalina reacted immediately, dropping the strange, soft creature from her mouth. Her saliva dripped from her powerful jaw onto the talking, walking doll as she dropped back away from the wooden platform and sat on the ground. Her little test had taught her only a little about the creature: that it was soft and malleable, that apparently Kalina could bite straight though it if she wanted, and the creature would not die. Directly to the contrary, Kalina had done very little damage, yet the creature seemed to separate itself, slip itself in half and slip from her mouth as she dropped it.

The grey ocelot kitten watched in awe as it put itself back together and continued to reprimand her. "
What is it?" She asked herself. The Kelvic's moss green eyes widened further, if possible, as she watched it begin to eat itself. Her Master liked green vegetables, which Kali hated... there were lots of things that she didn't like that humans ate, but she had never tasted anything so foul. The fact that it was eating itself was curious enough, but it didn't seem to mind the taste and that was what Kalina found so strange. Her head tilted further to the the side in wonderment as she tried to recall if she gad ever met something so queer that it would consume its own being, something that could also apparently change its shape at will, didn't die if it was ripped in half, and didn't bleed if it was pieced by her sharp teeth. But she came up blank; it really was like nothing she had seen before.

At the offer of a game from the weird beast she had been watching, the ocelot's tail flicked in excitement at the concept, but it was an unconscious movement. So confused now, Kalina was consciously debating whether or not she should want to continue with this creature. It wasn't human, and it wasn't prey. Kalina had not yet been taught what she should do in such an instance, so up her gut reaction was to back away, to leave and explore somewhere else, or find another, a safer person, to play with.

But something kept her there. For a moment, she considered morphing into her human form: that way she could ask her questions. It there were too many people around: her fear of transforming in an unknown place surrounded by people she didn't know was still very much present. And she had no clothes, and Amelia's insistent words about not walking around nude in human form rolled lazily through her mind. Despite this, she needed to know more. Stepping forward once again, she pushed herself back onto her back legs and rested her front paws against the side of wood again. This time she didn't lunge for the creature - she just rested her snout on the edge and stared.

Dancing the Cold Away (Kalina) [Job thread]

Sinoa

The feline creature seemed to be willing to behave and listen to what Sinoa had to say, So He took a moment to ponder what game he wanted to play, Sinoa didn't have to many playmates and wanted this game to be the very best he could come up with,. Playing make believe was always Sinoa's absolute favourite but felt that would be hard to do since Sinoa couldn’t communicate with the creature. Sinoa wondered if a simple game of hide and seek would work, It wasn't the best game Sinoa had ever come up with but it would have to do. Considering the other Kelvic he knew seemed to enjoy looking for mice and fish, Sinoa believed this game would be well received.

"Okay I've got it" Sinoa shouted gleefully while shooting his smaller arms fist in the air "Lets play beast and prey, you be the beast and I'll be the prey"
"just give me enough time to hide and then come and find me...just don't actually try to eat me this time."

Before even waiting for any kind of response from the feline, Sinoa scurried off quickly to find a place to hide. Sinoa head was jumping from one possibility to the next, trying his best to consider all options. The hiding place would have to be crafty, Sinoa couldn't just seek refuge under a discarded crate, that would be far too easy. A nearby stall with a shivering tall folk, was covered in various clay pots that seemed to have a similar colouration to the pycon, and could potentially offer great camouflage. Hoverer Sinoa changed his mind when he realised that the tall folk wouldn't appreciate him hiding amongs their wares. Sinoa was quickly getting discouraged at the lack of ideal hiding spots. As he looked around, Sinoa was already drawing up blanks and the feline would surely be looking for him by now. Sinoa had to pick a place fast and quickly forced himself to hide under a odd looking stone statue in someones front yard.

The statue seemed to not be made into anything particular or at least not that sinoa recognized. it was smoothly carved amorphous blob but Sinoa couldn't help but find himself drawn to it. The statue had a bit of ivy that was starting to grow on it and was surrounded by various dead plants that had been ravaged by the cold. This hiding place was just big enough to properly cover sinoa and the surrounding line of bushes on each side of the house made spotting the pycon from the sides difficult. The house where this statue was erected was not a particularly remarkable one despite the owners peculiar taste in lawn ornaments. Sinoa sat in a rested position and patiently waited to be found.
