Kalina * * Appearance   Human Form Appearance in Human form Although, as a Kelvic, she ages at an accelerated rate, Kalina stands at only 4' when in human form. Well fed all of her life, she is developing normally, and appears to be around seven to nine years old at the moment, and she is ageing at about four or five years for every calendar year in human form. Her slim frame leaves people to estimate her weight of just under 60lbs. Though, as the girl engages in a relatively active lifestyle, as human and otherwise, and her diet as an animal consists primarily of red meat and fish, a substantial proportion of her is muscle, compared to other human children of her apparent age. Though much of her appearance is that of a pure human when in said form, her eyes still retain the qualities they have when in ocelot form - a warm, mossy green shade with flecks of chestnut and, in brighter light, a small, slit-like black pupil which grows in lower light to match the vision of her animal kin. Her deep-set, unusual eyes are accentuated by her pale skin and her hair, much like the fur in her ocelot form, is grey with some dark brown and golden flecks, which flows in knotted locks half way down her torso. Never in one position for too long, the girl cares little for her appearance, which is clear from her often mismatched clothes, which she grabs as she transforms.   Animal Form Appearance in Animal form Though not fully grown yet, Kalina now matches other true animals of her species in size, coming in at the smaller range of 42cm at shoulder height. This size puts her comfortably in the region of around about twice the size of a domesticated cat. Her race is known as the 'dwarf leopard', and she is a sleek and agile feline with a coat and markings similar to that of her larger leopard relatives. Her rounded ears and relatively large paws set her apart from other felines of her size; the paws making it particularly easy for the tree dweller to move quickly and silently amongst the branches and on the ground. She will not grow much bigger, and her small size gives her an advantage, as she is able to curl up on the lap of a grown human adult, but her size should not allow for complacency - her form is still that of a wild feline, and her sharp claws, teeth, and powerful jaw can kill with ease. Her coat consists of medium-short hair, which is easily kept clean. The small black spots, quintessential to her species, form larger circles and lines which make up the irregular striped bands, continuing onto her 12 inch tail. With colourings that could only be described as 'clouded', she is not a golden colour like most other ocelots, rather grey and brown in shading. Though not as striking and desired as the traditional golden, she still turns heads in her form, just like all of her wild feline kin. And like them all, this alluring coat alone makes her sought after.   Markings and Scars Distinctive Markings As an inquisitve cub, Kalina finds herself in her fair share of scraps and fights, play and otherwise. She also has little care for herself when curiosity strikes and she finds herself in holes too small for her form. From this, her body, both animal and human, is littered with harmless cuts, scrapes and bruises. A more serious mark, though now only a scar she received when she was around only a season old, lines her throat; an angry red, jagged line running in a circle, the shameful mark of Kalina's young ignorance.It is more obvious when she is in her human form, as she has no excess of fur to hide the scar. In ocelot form, if one looks closely enough, they will be able to see a broken line of fur around her neck, where the scar tissue prevents any fur from regrowing there. On warmer days, it will appear as a white-silver line, rather than a red one, but the reflective surface is still unmistakable for what it is. Kalina also has a Scar on the underside of her left rib, from a hunting accident. A deer's antler gashed her side. Due to lack of treatment - and not resting her body - it never fully healed, and she will always carry the patchy scar, and will sometimes experience pain from it. * Personality Still a kitten in attitude, Kalina finds easy joy in her playful antics. Much like a human child, she is ego-centric and not particularly concerned with the world beyond her immediate surroundings. For the most part though, she prefers to be in her animal form as a way of releasing much of her energy, and has been known to bounce around, mewling in search of attention from anyone, or anything, around her. In climbing trees, she enjoys watching the world below her, though has little self-restraint and often pushes herself into the dealings of others, trying to make a game out of everything. Unlike most other felines, Kalina and her ocelot kin have no fear or dislike for water and this is one of the few ways she can be persuaded to clean herself, clearly detesting the concept of bath-time in her human form. In point of fact, from an observer's viewpoint, the young Kelvic is clearly much more confident in her animal form; something that could probably be attributed to the fact that she thinks she could get away with more in her cuter, much more alluring body. An intelligent girl, she knows she'll be forgiven much more easily for any transgressions, none of which are initially malicious in intent. Her inhuman eyesight (which, for ocelots, is better than nigh on all felines and canines) allows for her Kelvic form's sleeping patterns to generally control her sleeping habits. As a child, she sleeps for a substantial portion of each day, and enjoys being awake at night, when is deemed most natural for her, though at such times, when others are not around for her to garner attention from, she finds herself sometimes lonely. It is in this respect that she differs from her ocelot nature, being a sociable being, rather than a solitary one. Her nocturnal tendencies, however, leave her to be unpredictable, especially when lack of sleep renders her grumpy. Benign to a fault, her predatory nature as an ocelot leaves her with fast reflexes, both in human and animal form. And, given the chance, she will hunt down, chase and kill small rodents as a feast, or just for the hell of it. Though not capable of hunting larger prey, due to her size, she has a powerful jaw and her sharp, pointed teeth could effortlessly pierce the skin of a small deer, were she presented with the opportunity. Her eating habits extend into her human form to some extent; preferring red meat, barely cooked. Impatient too, she prefers not to have to wait for her food, and she learned quickly that it took longer for cooked food to be prepared. ________ As she grows and is taught by those close to her, Kalina is becoming more self-aware and conscious of goings on that do not directly involve her. Her social etiquette is developing and, whilst she continues to have many long bouts of childish behaviour, for those who know her they can see a marked difference in the girl's maturity levels.

Kalina * * History [Under Construction] For the entirety of her first three seasons of life, Kalina has only ever been able to call the Kelvic Research Institute her home, though - at the time - she had no idea why, or what a Kelvic even was. Born of two Kelvics who also knew no other home other than the KRI, her parents were forced to breed to see what the result would be. As such, Kalina has never met her father, the researchers having removed him soon after he had inseminated her mother. Her birth was easy, her mother only having been in labour for a few bells before the birth. Both mother and daughter were healthy, thanks to the treatment from the handlers at the KRI. Soon her animal form came to light for the researchers to study, though it made no difference to the child, or to her mother. She was happy, knowing no different, and playful. Half way though Autumn, Kalina's eyes opened in animal form, and a little while after that she began to walk in human form. From that moment on, there was no stopping her; the ball of energy was always on the move and sniffing out every corner of her small compound. The days that she was allowed out soon became her favourite. As part of the KRI, there was a small compound that she, and other Kelvic subjects, were allowed to exercise in, seemingly at the whims of the researchers. It was not uncommon for the Kelvic kitten to feel an extreme amount of envy whenever she watched another allowed to enjoy the outside world, or receiving the attention of a researcher. This jealousy only got worse when, during the Winter season, she was removed from her mother and put into her own cage, in the same corridor as other feline female Kelvic specimens. It frightened her, yes; she had never been away from her mother's side. But as days passed and she became used to her situation, the one thing affecting her most was the undeniable boredom she felt from having her own cage, and no one to entertain her. In order to move her away from her mother, the handlers at the Kelvic Research Institute collared her, when, in both of her forms, she could sustain herself on solid foods. Having never felt anything around her neck, other than clothes, when she was in human form, the metal and leather collar felt foreign to her. That was the first hint to the young Kelvic that something wasn't right... and then they pulled her out of her mother's cage. Frightened and uncomprehending of her current situation, she made the rash decision to transform into her human form, where she would be better equipped to communicate her needs, despite the fact that her young age left her language lacking and immature. As an ocelot kitten, her human form was slightly larger, resulting in the already tight collar digging into her neck. Handlers watched on in horror as the now human girl clawed at her throat in agony, the blood flowing freely to the floor as she writhed. Enough sense returned to the young Kelvic to find the quickly failing energy to transform back to her previous form and, exhausted from the fear and exertion of changing twice in quick succession, he did not fight the handlers as they moved her away from her mother. She received the care she needed to physically heal. But the scars left behind from that moment were psychological as well as mental. Like all Kelvics, the young girl has little trouble changing from one form to the other, provided the energy available to do so is there. But it is one of the very few times she is entirely serious and self-aware. She is very cautious over her transformations, meticulously analysing her surroundings, the people she might be near, and especially her attire, before beginning the morph. As a result, to observers who don't know her, she may appear slow, uncomprehending, and even disobedient towards those who ask her to change from her animal form, seeing as she can't vocalise her hesitancy in that form. On the Seventh Day of Summer, 513AV, when Kalina was three seasons old, she was bought by an Agent of the Black Sun, a man by the name of Marcus Ahysen. Taking her home, the pair were only in Ravok for thirty days before he took her from the city and, with companions in the form of Amelia Cross and Clyde Sullins, they travelled to Nyka and then on to Zeltiva. Though she enjoyed being away from the lake-city (the small feline hates large bodies of water), she missed Ravok and the amount of attention she received from her Master there. * Relationships Kalina adores meeting new people, and she doesn't care who that person is. Never having been every good with "stranger danger", she has been in a number of undesirable situations due to her lack of self-preservation. Most people she will meet for a short period of time and then she will never think about them again; she's had her fun and, ultimately, they mean little to her. But a few she had met numerous times, and they are salient enough for her to have formed a relationship with them...   Marcus Name: Marcus Ahysen Relationship: Master Having bought Kalina from the Kelvic Research Institute on the Seventh day of Summer in the year 513AV, Marcus has had Kali for little over a Season now. The Agent of The Black Sun gave her attention from the offset, which the young Kelvic liked, making him a good person in her eyes. He has also, quite probably wrongly, spoilt her with fish, mostly trout, but occasionally better foodstuffs, which has caused the young kitten to believe that she can get anything she wants. Though the pair have not yet bonded, Kalina has been treated well enough that now she finds herself inherently wanting to please him. Still little more than a child, she has much to learn and causes Marcus much embarrassment, but she is trying.   Amelia Name: Amelia Cross Relationship: Friend/Mentor Having saved Kalina from bullies, Amelia has since gained a shadow, of sorts in the form of the young Kelvic. Half way through Summer, 513AV, the pair, along with two others (inc Marcus), left Ravok for Nyka, and from there, on to Zeltiva.
